This allowed Sund to collect more accurate heights which gave Sund a clearer image of the perpetrators, which she could us when she come to creating a suspect list. Most witnesses do get height wrong as it is a judgment error, it’s beneficial to try and be as accurate as possible and this technique seems to work (Yuille & Cutshall, 1989). Sund received some conflicting evidence from Lila as in the first interview she believed all of the robbers had guns but during her second interview she changed her mind: This could have been due to the cognitive technique used before hand as it may have allowed Lila to remember more clearly what had happened. It also could have allowed her to falsely remember information. As Berkerian & Dennet (1993), found the cognitive interview can increase false information given within adults. Conflicting descriptions are given by Lila during the two interviews as shown below: …show more content…
So does this mean only one person didn’t have a mask on or is she confusing herself, as she may not be able to describe the man who grabbed Liz properly, so decided to say he had a mask on instead. This could be due to Lila trying hard to remember and focus on the number plate so was unable to divide her full attention to the person grabbing Liz and not able to divide her attention (Lane, 2006). Diving attention effects memory, as studies show people who had to divide their attention during an event had poorer memory for the event compared to those who paid full attention (Lane, 2006). The evidence Lila provided was good, as she was quite accurate in measurements, gave a good overall description and timeline, but some inconstancies occurred between her
Short stories often develop a theme in a short time frame. Their authors must do this with limited settings and characters. The short story Killer, written by Paula Goslings, contains many themes with the main one being deception. One of the ways the author expresses this is through the narrative convention of style or mood. In this piece the convention of plot is also utilised by the author to develop this idea. Characterisation is another narrative convention successfully utilised to explore this theme. By themselves these elements are nothing, but when together, they effectively portray the theme of deception in the fantastic short story Killer.
1. I wrote arguments in my persuasive and literary analysis to fulfill standard one. I used my research as evidence and combined that with my prior knowledge to make educated arguments to support my claims. I spent time going through information and analyzing the information to find sufficient evidence.
The cognitive interview increases the credibility of eyewitness testimony by decreasing memory error and confabulations.
In Canada, the leading cause of wrongful conviction is due to the factor of eyewitness account. It has been proven that individual’s minds are not like tape recorders because everyone cannot precisely and accurately remember the description of what another person or object looks like. The courts looks at eyewitness accounts as a great factor to nab perpetrators because they believe that the witness should know what they are taking about and seen what occurred on the crime scene. On the other hand, eyewitness accounts lead to a 70 percent chance of wrongful conviction, where witnesses would substantially change their description of a perpetrator.
Pointless action gets two teammates into an argument over “little” money. In this article it goes by to explain how IK Enemkpali “sucker punches” Geno Smith, the starting Quarterback of the New York Jets. The punch cause Smith jaw to be fractured in two places. New York Jets head coach, Todd Bowles, action towards the whole incident causes Enemkpali to get cut from the team. Enemkpali was upset with Geno Smith basically because Smith was given 600$ to attend a camp. Due to a death in Smith family, he couldn’t attend the camp which cause Enemkpali to lose 600$. As the two head back to training camp for football practice, Enemkpali gave Smith the silent treatment and then after the punch had been thrown.
Assuming the office of chief Superintendent of Education in Upper Canada, Egerton immediately swung into action as he continued to make countless creative, as well as, extensive changes targeted to remodelling the Upper Canada school system whose general control of the school was within his jurisdiction- the Chief Superintendent. Egerton had the prerogative to “set standards for the curriculum; supervised the training, inspection and examination of teachers; and oversaw the selection and distribution of textbooks, through a central depository and press plant which encouraged the publication of works by home-grown authors. Libraries were organized in every school”. (Claude W.D, 2002, para 7)

Ever since Hunter Jordan died, Ruth and James were heavily affected. In order to combat this, they both use different ways to grieve over his death. To begin, Ruth, James’ mother, rides her bike to grieve for her husbands death. To show proof, James says, “She would ride in slow motion across our street… It was her way of grieving,” (7). As one can see James believes his mother rides her bicycle to grieve for her deceased husband. In addition, James also notes, “it was something [the bike] my stepfather found on the street in Brooklyn and hauled home a few months before he died.” (5). To explain, James says that his stepfather found the bike and brought it to Ruth a few months before he died, so Ruth uses it to remind her of her husband. Furthermore, another way Ruth grieves is in church. James says, “she would occasionally do something in church that I never saw her do at home… she would bow down her head and weep.” (50). As one can see, Ruth cries in church to grieve for her husband because if her kids see her, they would think she is crying because God makes her happy.

Erik Larson uses repetition to tell his readers how much it would take for Olmsted to complete his task on time and how stressful it was. Larson uses the would “if” to communicate to his readers that there is a chance that everything could work out but “if” one of these does not, then they fail. By repeating “if” repeatedly Larson’s readers understand that there are many different things that, in order for the fair to be complete on time, need to go right. So by using this repetition Larson communicates to his readers how stressed they were about the fair. Therefore, this repetition that Erik Larson uses allows his readers to understand how stressed they all were about all the factors that needed to go right in order for the fair to be completed
The setting is Meadowlane Elementary and a bashful nine-year-old Lilibeth Martinez was sitting in Ms. Moss’s class preparing for the FCAT Writes. My earliest memories of writing are about when I was in the fourth grade and everyone was preparing to take the FCAT Writes for their first time. I remember sitting all the way in the first row, fourth seat, scribbling furiously on a piece of paper as I jotted down all of my ideas and sentences with my Hannah Montana pencil. I was obsessed with Hannah Montana at the time. Ecstatic at the idea of getting to create a story made of my own imagination, thoughts and opinions. Although my gleeful bubble popped the moment I saw the prompt was about explaining the wonders of wearing uniform the day of the

Willow Davenport and her family have always loved the wild west. They love it so much, they sing and dance in their own Western themed show. Always on the hunt to expand their holdings, they are elated when the ranch next door goes on sale. They jump on the chance to buy it.
The scribe did not notice the eyes of the horseman turn northward and look with pride, scorn and a smugness toward the Mariamme Tower. This was only seventy-four feet high, but one of the most beautiful and characteristic towers ever conceived and designed. Built as the final of three wall towers, it was named for King Herod's first and most loved Hasmonean wife, whom he had murdered so he could marry his evil seductive mistress, Herodias. The tower Simon feasted his eyes on past that shorter tower was the Phasael Tower, named after Herod's brother as of today stood as the tallest structure in all of Israel. “Until this afternoon!” thought Simon. “I will build a higher structure than any! It will be higher and remain
English 2201 helped me discover not only myself as a writer, but allowed me to go more in depth with learning how to write in the field of my intended discipline. This is the first specific English class I have taken that focused on the style of writing I will need to be familiar in the future with. Because of that fact, I defiantly enjoyed this class. I feel like my knowledge and ability to navigate the writing techniques of my major have improved and my in-text citations skills have improved greatly. Overall this course opened my eyes to the many different styles there are in the field of Communications, which is my intended field of study, and how to use these styles correctly and efficiently.
