1. I wrote arguments in my persuasive and literary analysis to fulfill standard one. I used my research as evidence and combined that with my prior knowledge to make educated arguments to support my claims. I spent time going through information and analyzing the information to find sufficient evidence.

Colleen puts a claim in each paragraph to support the main idea of that paragraph and to convince the reader to accept the claim. In paragraph seven Colleen’s point is that more pressure causes students to cheat, her claim is that with the increased pressure to do well in school it causes students to cheat. By effectively supporting her point Wenke displayed a good writing technique because she used claims in the correct places. A claim is one of the three main parts of a persuasive essay and Colleen correctly placed them in her essay.
While attending writing class, I learned about the 4 steps in writing, bases for revising, organizing, and connecting specific information, and I also learned about the different types of essays such as descriptive, narrative, process, cause and effect and argumentative essay. I have been a student at Milwaukee Area Technical College for 1 semester, and over the course of my enrollment I have grown and learned more that I knew prior to attending this writing course. Participating in this writing class has taught me so much more than stuff about literature and language, it has taught me another way of expressing myself. I have learned here how to write and express myself, how to think for myself, and how to find the answers to the things that I don 't know. Most importantly I have learned how important technique, outlines and organization are. My goal in this paper is to inform writers about how my writing skills have improved.

Taking English 1302 with Texas Tech University has been a highly rewarding experience. This class focuses on literature reviews and researched arguments, but when I signed up for this class I did not know the difference between the two. Now I know that literature reviews use sources to inform the reader about current studies on a topic, while researched arguments use sources to support the author’s claim and persuade the reader. During this class I have learned how to write a literature review/ researched argument as well as many mechanics related to general writing.
Outline, planning, revising, rough and final draft, grading. This is the typical process for writing an essay, I however as a young high school student never followed this. I started with an idea in my head and go on from there. I never considered a need to plan and prepare an outline, just to write a rough draft that I would have to revise, draft, and draft again. It would just be easier to start writing the final draft first right? No. This class has taught me many strategies on how to accustom my writing to a college level. Over the semester in this class I have grown, learned how to effectively draft, and experienced argumentative writing first hand.
Throughout this semester we have had to write many types of essays. Although this is a college English class there is still room for improvement. I made much improvement during the semester of the class. I was able to identify my weaknesses. I learned how to make improvements to the areas I was having problems in. Although each essay we did was different I was able to begin with one essay and throughout the semester turn it into two other essays. I have learned about the different types of claims, like claim of value, fact, and policy, and different methods of arguing, like induction and deduction. I have used all of these techniques throughout my writing. When I am struggling with a prompt, like for my quotation essay, I look at it like an argument. This helps me make my purpose clear. A good example of my strength of argumentation is my paper on why schools should not have letter grades. In this essay, I used points and evidence to argue my claim. I also used a deductive method, meaning that I started with an observation and worked my way to a conclusion. This allowed me to effectively argue my claim and use evidence to support it. The essay I believe that demonstrated my best work is essay number 4.In that essay I was able to express myself and share my believe with my reader. I was able to provide concrete evidences that support my claim. In my mind that essay could change someone's opinion on how they view the public school system. There were some minor grammatical errors in the essay but over the essay was excellent.
