Superhero Monologue

Well, here I am. I’m at Yokeman Regional Medical Center. Thanks to the skull fracture and the sprain on my leg, I’ll be here for a bit. They gave me just the right amount of pain medication so it’s just a numbing feeling. I’m expected to do some physical therapy for a bit after the release me. I feel fine, relieved actually that this is all over. It’s been four days since that horrible night where my old science teacher tried to kill me. Speaking of which, I had a nice talk with my mom about her past this morning, and how it almost got me killed. Now, she refuses to leave my side. Randy is in jail, not the local jail, he got transported to the big house in Phoenix. The rotting corpses, and the bodies from the old church, only one of them died, but it was all overdose. Randy was growing the mushrooms in the church and giving them out to the people who were willing enough to join his little cult. He created that cult in memory of Robin, not the one he killed, but the one he remembered from High School. You

The air reeked of alcohol, the intoxicated breaths of young people colliding together over drunken slurs to create one distinct scent. She kept her head low as she made her way through the maze made by the seemingly endless crowd. Full of regrets, she was doing all she could to get out of there, the distraction turning out to be nothing more than a few drinks with people who didn't even know when her birthday was. The song finished abruptly, followed by simultaneous cheering. She kept moving, weaving in and out of people with fierce determination until she walked right into him. She murmured a quick apology and went to continue when the familiarity of the figure in front of her hit. She hesitantly looked up, heart dropping into her stomach at the mere sight of him.

One day there were four kids playing the playstation. Their names were Korey, Javi, Cole, AJ and Lane. Then Korey’s mom called all of them for lunch. Then they went outside, but there was a really old house. We asked my mom and she said, “ yes but but careful”. Then we decided to go to the house at night. So we ate dinner, and then went into my room to get dressed in black spy clothes. At about 11:50 we started to drive down to the old house by riding my atv. It took us ten minutes to get there. We made sure that we had all the gear that we needed. So we went inside, and we saw a dusty dinner table, and we saw old silverware.It was only 12:00 we promised my mom we would be back by 6:00 Then we stuffed started to get strange we was tired so

“Oh,” Darlene replied, his meaning not lost. She slipped the card in with her money and lip gloss. She disliked dogs and Daryl’s niece wasn’t going to be the first place she inquired for new work, but it was nice to have a backup option. “Thank you,” she added.

Nothing was heard, only the water droplets that drops from the crack ceiling. Making a small puddle on the ground, having mice roaming around the place.

“Concentrate, Aiden!” He clapped his hands. “Please you really need to focus. This is important. Children have to be careful when they venture into the forest. There’s a pack of wild, voracious wolves with gaping mouths reeling with fangs and forked tongues each as thick as my wrist. They roam the woods, ten feet or more, and then hung in the trees, breathing raggedly tasting your scent, considering how best to devour you. As a matter of fact only, the other day several of them snatched a baby elf out of its sleeping mother’s arms and thrashed the poor little dear to pieces.

I hated these white walls. I hated these Stepford Wife magazines. I generally hated hospitals altogether. When you first walk in a hospital, it’s like you're either walking in for a miracle or you’re walking in for your awaited coffin. I’ve been in and out of hospitals for awhile now, so I have seen the radiants of life and the darkness of death. I’m like you, Tin Man, I need a heart transplant. I’ve been waiting for my own Great and Powerful Oz to give me a heart for about a year now. I simply went to the ‘why me’ charade and had been shoved with Hallmark greeting cards from people. My family, my own flesh and blood, didn’t know how to approach me without some kind of an ignorant barrier. My older brother, Eugene, he didn’t have any imaginary armour on or a puppet smile for show. He came into my hospital room one time at night, a little bit tipsy, and said something so heartfully sugar-coated: “You have a big heart, little sister, that’s why you need a bigger heart to take in your engaging compassion for others. You’re no saint, but you’re a wonderful person, and I need you to fight against your painful heart because you will be dreadfully miss if you’re gone.”

Finally making contact, she flung her assailant as hard as she could, hearing a dull thud as the intruder hit the wall before banging back and forth between the hall walls like a ping-pong ball.

I push the cracked oak wood tavern door open. Eyes sweep across the room falling on me. Wearing a dark hood and cloak concealing all but my piercing ice blue eyes and half of my nose. My wide chest, wiry arms, thick legs and my two swords also hidden away underneath my cloak. I’ve been growing my beard out, short cropped it isn’t much to deal with. The tavern is laid thick with the scents of; stale alcohol, fresh bread, and charred savory meat roasting on the spit in the center of the tavern. In the opposite corner of the tavern sits a table bathed in shadows with four armed individuals.

I slam my locker and turn to my best friend, Kelly Walter. "Please tell me again why we had that dreaded geography test today." I said. "Cheer up, Ally. It was pretty easy. You're stressing over nothing." She said.

I felt the sticky, sweet summer air plaster my clothes to my perspiring body, the wood of my violin getting dangerously damp as I cranked out note after note; a mechanical doll spinning slowly around my room as I performed to nobody but myself and the smell of mochi rising from the kitchen.

Surrounded by crowds of people sharing the same thought; are we really getting home today? Pepsi is too anxious. Vomiting all over himself and his new uniform. Sunshine lays into him, cussing and screaming. Laughter erupts! Growing rowdier as Doc yells “No matter what don’t stop us now, I’ll fix him”. Close knit groups of friends are scattered around having vivid discussions of the first thing they are going to do when they’re finally off. Grady chimes in on a conversation with his deep southern accent trying to imitate his favorite musician, DJ Screw saying “Man shiiitttt first thing I’m going to do is grab me a bottle, some shrimp, and sit my ass in the tub”. Craw Daddy can’t help but tease Grady, by reminding him to lay off the alcohol
