This semester we tried to learn and discuss the influence of research work in landscape architecture design. Landscape architecture is becoming more and more important in people’s daily life today and it is essential for us to have a good awareness of how research work would affect landscape architecture design. I will illustrate this point from three parts: (1) why is research an integral part of landscape architecture? (2) what roles do it fill? (3) how will landscape architecture be impacted by over the fifty years as a result of landscape architecture research?

This project takes place in South Australia. In September 2000, ACME Fabricators advised its staff that their new factory and offices out in semi rural Angle Vale would be ready for completion by the end of April 2002. ACME was responsible company and liked to keep their premises clean and tidy and their staff happy. The new premises at the Angle Vale were developed on a 4.5 hectare site, previously used for grain crops. Consequently, ACME decided that significant landscaping would be required to enhance the amenity of the otherwise bare land.

Human and environmental behavior is an area that studies how landscapes influence people (Powers 2009).Visual mapping and engaged action are some of the research methods that help with gathering data to find out about human behavior in the landscapes. This paper discusses the strengths and limitations of both methods as well as shows five examples of the methods used in research and projects.

By the end of January the landscaping site works were finished and the irrigation system was installed.
