We had been asked to measure all this in KPTM for at least three days continuously. This project will surely increase our information that relates with data communication and network. 2.0 Problem Statement While we are carry out the project, there are some limitations that we have to face: 1. The signals strength in KPTMKL is low in a range, sometimes cannot be connected. …show more content…
Day 2 ( 2 / 4 /2014 ) Figure 3 : Figure 3 has shown that Wi – Fi CS2 has an excellent Received Signal Strength .Wi – Fi student- zone2b has a fair Received Signal Strength . Free public wifi has a poor Received Signal Strength . Figure 4 : Figure 4 has shown that only Wi – Fi CS2 can be detected because Wi – Fi student – zone2b and Free Public Wifi are have a low signal. Day 3 (3 / 4 /2014 ) Figure 5 : Figure 5 has shown that only two WiFi had being test that are WIFI-L3 AND wifi-43.2 . WIFI-L3 has an excellent Received Signal Strength but wifi-43.2 has a poor Received Signal Strength. Both of the Wifi had a type WEP security settings . Figure 6 : Figure 6 has shown that only WIFI-L3 can be detected because wifi-43.2 have a low signal. Picture above show a good and a bad RSSI Table Explanation Mac Address This is a unique identifier for a wireless network. In an infrastructure network, this will be the radio’s MAC Address ,In an Ad-Hoc environment, this will be a pseudo-randomly generated mac Address SSID Abbreviation of “service set Identifier” ,which is the name an 802.11 wireless network uses to identify itself RSSI Abbrevation of “Received Signal Strength Indication”,which is the amplitude level of the wireless network as seen by a computer’s
There are 9 IEEE 802.11 services in total which can be classified into to categories:
Belkin has included it's MultiBeam antenna technology that minimizes signal dead spots. Walls and obstructions can cause signal loss, and this feature corrects for that as much as possible. Additionally, the Self-Healing feature will detect connection and network issues automatically a repair them for you.
He mentioned using applications like Airport Utility to track wifi strength in an area, you can walk around and it will tell you when the strength decreases and increases depending on where you are standing. Although we usually pass off troubleshooting wifi strength issues because we do not manage the wireless, it could be a way we can check to make sure if there is an actual strength issue in a resident's
Wireless network infrastructure has become just another connection method for corporate and home users alike. This rapid acceptance can be attributed from:
This is a direct extension of the 802.11b that extends the maximum data rate to 54Mbps, making it possible to serve up to five times as many users. Our Wi-Fi network is based on the IEEE 802.11 b/g standards, which is the most commonly used standard. We have added Wi-Fi access points in our network to give easier access to corporate data and services. Most of the devices in this network, for example the personal computers, smartphones, digital cameras, tablets and digital audio players connected using the Wi-Fi technology. The hotspot will be in the range of 20 meters (66 feet) indoors and a greater range outside.
It is the normal apparatus used to hack WEP and WPA utilizing Dictionary assault. This is having a toolbox which contains distinctive assortments of instruments that are utilized for hacking like airmon, airodump, aireplay and numerous more
Outline a wireless network and technology that you use regularly. The WLANs which are derived from the IEEE 802.11 standards, and marketed under the Wi-Fi trademark name. The WLANs security is neither forthright/candid nor simple, and it is continuously varying. Even though, as WLAN increase client output, they also expose the networks to a new group of potential hackers. With the present inherent security weakness of the 802.11 standard, all companies, small, medium or large, need to find out their security conditions derived from the applications using the WLAN. The standards also provide requirements for high-speed networks that support most modern-day applications. What sorts of security issues do
A site survey of the city was done around town. The test area was 3 x 4 grids Using Wireless Analyzer software, by taking readings throughout the coverage area a heat
Wi-Fi Protected Access 2, the follow on security method to WPA for wireless networks that provides stronger data protection and network access control. It provides enterprise and consumer Wi-Fi users with a high level of assurance that only authorized users can access their wireless networks. Based on the IEEE 802.11i standard, WPA2 provides government grade security by implementing the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) FIPS 140-2 compliant AES encryption algorithm and 802.1x-based authentication.
Today’s generation is technology reliant. People think that their life is incomplete without technology. No one could stay away from their phones for a second. People get frustrated when they get weak Wi-Fi signals and this frustration could create a big negative affect in their lives. There are many students who get low grades due to weak Wi-Fi signals. It is shocking, but it is true. Edmonds Community College is a really old and respected college, but a black spot on this college is bad internet. Edmonds Community College’s website states that they got free Wi-Fi for students, but it does not states that how bad it works. Classes in Edmonds Community College mainly rely on Canvas which is a website for students. This website is important
It’s very important to determine the device and application requirements based on bandwidth, protocols and frequency. In wireless network, bandwidth, protocols and sometime environmental conditions affect the speed of the channel so we need to calculate the aggregate throughputs before designing the network. Today, users carry Wi-Fi devices such as notebooks, laptops, tablets and Smartphone’s so total throughput must be calculated by estimating number of connections rather than the number of the seats. Some common wireless networking standards such as 802.11a/b/g/n invented in the IEEE association must be supported by wireless network. For better performance and for faster devices (802.11n devices), dual-ratio access points should be deployed. Table1 [3] illustrate the different IEEE standards and throughput.
Wireless networking hardware requires the use of underlying technology that deals with radio frequencies as well as data transmission. The most widely used standard is 802.11 produced by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). This is a standard defining all aspects of Radio Frequency Wireless networking
Wi-Fi standards can be now improved by means of using this router. Upgraded tri-band is available as a result of which the connection will be thrown smoothly and the devices will get automatically connected without any delay.
Wi-Fi Internet access is fast gaining popularity as we are entering the 'unplugged ' phase of communication technology. This journey towards an unplugged world began with the first telegraph and first radio. Since then, telecommunication technology has not looked back and has shown its versatility by contributing to every field of technology. Wi-Fi has developed from synergy of wireless communication, computer networking and Internet technology. It has radically changed the way we connect and communicate.Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) is a generic term that refers to the IEEE 802.11 communications standard for Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs). Wi-Fi works on three modes namely Ad hoc, Infrastructure and Extended modes.Ad hoc network is P2P mode. Ad hoc does not use any intermediary device such as Access Point. Infrastructure and Extended modes use Access Point as interface between wireless clients. To create wireless networks with a range of about one hundred meters,802.11 technologyWith proper planning and selection antennas, same equipment can be used to make point-to-multipoint links and point-to-point links of several hundred meters. In this projectto enhance the coverage area of an access point to several hundred
