“We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!” Christmas was always in my mind no matter what time of year it was. I discovered a couple months back that our close family friends, the Taylors, could not afford anything to get their children any Christmas presents. I had a prompting to share this detail with the rest of my family members and we acted upon this news. We decided to take this opportunity to serve our great family friends, which we owed so much to them for all that they have done for us. We decided to save our money and that we each would not get more than five Christmas presents for ourselves. Instead, we would have our Christmas presents be contributed towards the family. That would be our Christmas present. To be able to give back and see how happy the Taylor family would be on Christmas day. …show more content…
This list was very long, for they have fifteen members of their family. Preparing the list meant that the next step was shopping for the family. That also meant a lot of shopping for the Taylor family. Another act of service was shown when our other family friends, the Gilberts, donated two thousand dollars to help purchase gifts for the Taylor family. They are also close with the Taylors and wanted to help contribute to this Secret Santa act.
As the list was finally finished, the shopping began. I got to travel to many stores with my mother as we searched for the needed items for the Taylors. I couldn’t contain my excitement while we were shopping. I just had a joyful feeling as we shopped. It really brought the Christmas spirit and made me even more excited to hear about the Taylors’ Christmas. We collected and bought all the presents for the Taylors and our living room was filling up with the many gifts. That meant it was time for us to begin
Merry Christmas! Christmas is a special time of the year. People all around the world enjoy the Christmas season. Some traditions are specific in their country. Australia and the United States share some traditions, however, other things are completely different.
This years theme is “Leadership and Legacy in Georgia History.” Our topic is the Bradley-Turner Family. The Bradley-Turner family has been very influential in Columbus and Georgia’s history.
Christmas like Thanksgiving believe it or not, do happen to share many traits. One major factor that the two own is the warmth and love of bringing family and close friends together. It’s the few times a year that everyone has a reason to all gather around to
With the wreaths and Yule logs that come standard with this holiday comes a caring from deep in the hearts of people unbeknownst to them at any other time of the year. At the sight of the Christmas decor and the flames roaring at the hearth, a warmth envelops the heart, one with which no flame, however hot, could compete. We see in our gift-wrap and our greeting cards and our holiday stockings an entirely new persona occupying this world we live in, reprieving us from the daily heartaches we all know as familiar.
Thank you for inviting me back for summer #6! I am so grateful you'll have me once again. I am planning to come home to work opening weekend but at this time I am unable to attend the meeting on Sunday, April 9. Please let me know if that is an issue.
Like I said in my introduction, this paragraph will be about when I went shopping multiple times with my family. I know it might sound dumb for a first paragraph but, too me it was awesome. That's because, I love spending time with my family, especially when we're all getting along. Let me break down this day for you. First it was a good morning, my mom made me breakfast and everyone was in a good mood. My Brother was happy, my Dad was being hilarious, and my Mom just seemed like she was having a great time. Then we all got dressed, I was making sure that I looked extra stunning. So we get into the car and my favorite song comes on “Despacito” so my family and I all started singing it together. About an hour later we get to the South lake Mall and we went to four stores, Hollister, Vans, Journeys, and American Eagle. My Mom, Brother, and I all went to those four stores while my Dad went shopping somewhere else. It was going well , we were all having a fantastic time together. Then once we were done shopping we went to McDonald's got some food because, who doesn't adore McDonald`s right? Then we headed back home, it was a great day and for sure one of my favorite memories from this Summer. Keep in mind my family and I did this like 2 or 3 times this year, so it was extra fun.
Every person has a place or a person they can go to in order to experience a sense of belonging. This positive feeling gives one the opportunity to escape the stressful factors of life and the ability to not feel like an outsider while being yourself. Looking back on my life before a sport, I was lost. After picking up field hockey, my life was transformed socially, physically, and mentally. Now, four years later, I am grateful to have such an amazing school team that allows me to feel like I belong there almost every time we are together, both on the perfectly trimmed grass with straight, white lines that mimic turf field, or in the noisy hallways crammed wall to wall with kids. Because this is a school field hockey team, I can always remember that I have somebody to talk to from the beginning of the school day to the end of practice. Without this group of people, I would not be lucky enough to become familiarized

The typical black family has only six percent of the typical white household, and Latinos has eight percent of the typical white household. The median white household had $111,146 in wealth in 2011, $7,113 for the median black household and $8,348 for the median Latino household. This is a huge gap because of the economic disadvantages for people of color. The economic gap means that families of color cannot have the same benefits as white families. With homeownership, about 73% of white peoples own homes, while only 45% of black families and 47% of Latino families own homes. Also white family’s homes are worth more than other families of color. That inequality comes from the 1934 National Housing Act that redlined black neighborhoods, which
Born on October 6, 1836, in Hamilton Square, N.J., John Taylor was the son of James F. Taylor, a brick manufacturer, and Rebecca Borden Taylor. Rainear, and two years later he gained an interest in the business.
“We get underprivileged families who can’t provide for their children for Christmas and they sign up through The Salvation Army,” Noah Manibusan, the event chair, explained. “We can get them whatever they need and basically give
" Christmas is the season for kindling the fire of hospitality in the hall, the genial flame of charity in the heart."
Christmas is meant for joy and laughter, not injuries and pain. Each year there are hundreds of injuries that occur on the morning of December 25th. When the holiday approaches Americans love to get into the Christmas spirit. Each family celebrates Christmas with their own traditions and rituals that determine their holiday activities. I would have never thought that my family’s traditions for Christmas morning would help me shape my values.
We each take a huge breath as we step out into the crispy snow that snaps under our boots. I make my way to the front door, illuminated by the red, green, and blue Christmas lights. As I open the door and step into a house full of cheek pinches and hugs, an array of Christmas smells welcomes me and makes my mouth water. As my family and I are quickly made comfortable, I look around... All the house is full of Christmas decorations, and the carols are heard all over the house. My cousins are running, playing , and laughing.
