Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, Dennis Raider, and the Zodiac Killer; All of these men are real-life examples of cold blooded killers that walked free for many years. They grew up in communities, attended schools, they drove the same roads you and I do, and they may have even appeared to some as – normal. Serial killers live amongst us today, many are not suspected by their neighbors, friends, or family, until the day they make a fatal error leading to their arrest, and for some, they may never be caught. With this being said, it really makes an average person ask themselves, what is going on in a killers head? Or the even bigger question is, how did they become that way? Are these killers products of their environment (nurture), or a product of their biological make up (nature)? It is important to define the terms environment and heredity, as so they are not ambiguous. Environment is defined as the circumstances by which one is surrounded. Hereditary is defined as being based on inheritance, generally in the sense of genetics, which is our biological makeup. Are serial killers more prone to kill out of the various factors of their independent lives? Or are they more prone to kill due to the natural circumstances of their genes passed from their ancestors? I believe serial killers genetic nature (heredity) is the largest contributing factor to their desire to kill. In this essay I am going to review how serial killers possess low orbital cortex activity, and the MAOA gene. I
