There are several types of murders that one could commit. For example, serial murders are a sequence of murders in which there is a time break between victims which could range between days or even months. To be defined as a serial killer, one would have to kill several victims in three or more separate events.
Moreover, one of the most widely known and notorious serial killers in the United States is Ted Bundy. I choose Ted Bundy for a case study because I work for the Pensacola Police Department and I see daily the pictures in the hallway of his capture by my agency and I have heard the stories told of his arrest by officers that worked here during that time. Ted Bundy grew up in what could be considered an unconventional family, during that time anyway. His mother was unwed and only twenty-two years old when she gave birth to him. Bundy was later adopted by his grandparents to hide the fact that he was an illegitimate child. Later in his life, Bundy went on to study at the University of Washington. He was highly educated and after he obtained his psychology degree and went on to pursue a degree in Law. Bundy was an active person in both social and political matters. Bundy is even noted to have received a letter of recommendation from the Governor of Washington at the time. Women began disappearing in the area Bundy was as well. A year later, a police officer stopped Bundy for a traffic violation and found an assortment of burglary tools inside his vehicle. These included a crowbar, a mask, rope, and handcuffs. He was arrest for possession of these tools and police started putting facts together then and began linking him to several ongoing investigations. Ted Bundy was arrested in 1975 for the kidnapping of Carol DaRonch, one of only a handful of women that actually escaped Ted Bundy’s serial killings. Bundy was convicted and sentenced to jail for that crime. It was only two years later, Bundy was indicted on murder charges for the death of another woman that lived had lived in Colorado. Bundy acted as his own lawyer in trial and while reviewing law books in the courthouse library he jumped out a window and made his first escape, he was captured just eight days later and returned to
