Tell Tale Heart Failure

Heart failure is a chronic, progressive condition in which the heart muscle is unable to pump enough blood through to meet the body 's needs for blood and oxygen. Basically, the heart can 't keep up with its workload. American Heart Association Statistics (2016) reveals that heart failure accounts for 36% of cardiovascular disease deaths. Projections report a 46% increase in the prevalence of Heart Failure (HF) by 2030 by affecting over 8 million people above 18 years with the disease. Healthy People 2020 goals are focused on attaining high quality longer lives free of preventable diseases, promotion of quality of life, healthy development and healthy behaviors across all stages of life (Healthy People 2020, 2015).

Failing means to be unsuccessful in achieving a specific goal, however if your goal is to fail have you succeeded? Failing a class is not always the best way to go, but if you ever wonder how to fail there are plenty of things you might want to do. Failing isn’t always easy, but it’s not too hard either.

Edgar Allen Poe's "The Tell Tale Heart" is a short story about how a murderer's conscience overtakes him and whether the narrator is insane or if he suffers from over acuteness of the senses. Poe suggests the narrator is insane by the narrator's claims of sanity, the narrator's actions bring out the narrative irony of the story, and the narrator is insane according to the definition of insanity as it applies to "The Tell Tale Heart".

Failure is something that all people encounter in their lives. In some situations failure can break a person or make a person, meaning a person can fail at something and just simply give up. Others will fail and that failure can give them the inspiration to try harder to one day achieve their goal. I'm the type of person to fail and work harder until I am content. As my championship baseball coach would say "What’s our motto? Never give up!"

“The Tell Tale Heart” is a famous short story written by Edgar Allen Poe. The story was first published in 1843. This story is about an unnamed man who kills an elderly man due to his “vulture eye”. The man serves as the narrator in this story and describes to readers in detail as he carefully stalks the man, kills him and hides his body under his floorboards after he cuts him up. Eventually, the narrator’s guilt eats him alive to the point that he confesses his crime to three visiting policemen. His guilt takes form as the old man’s heart, which he believes is still beating underneath the floorboards. This short story is considered one of the Poe’s most famous short stories as well as a Gothic fiction classic.

John Updike's short story, "A&P" is fictional in a sense that it has a common pattern that leads the reader through a series of events. These events began when three young ladies in bathing suits walk in A&P, and catch the eye of a young man named, Sammy. He seems to favor the chunkier girl of the three that walk in to the store.

Tell Tale Heart was written by Edgar Allen Poe and is about a sociopathic psychopath who murders an old man that has a red eye because it makes him angry when the old man looks at him. This short story is written in first person so that you can imagine what the narrator is explaining instead of being told exactly what is happening. Poe uses attention grabbing syntax and devices to create a mysterious and dark tone.

A&P by John Updike is a story that intrigues individuals if it is closely read. Sammy, a nineteen year old boy, works in A&P, which is a supermarket where he sees three girls enter in bathing suits. He watches them as they walk the aisle of the supermarket because for once he was intrigued. After all these years of working and living in the town, Sammy finally felt like the world or the town was brought to life after seeing the girls. Sammy saw the three girls and he never stopped looking at them.

Edgar Allen Poe’s 1843 short story “The Tell-Tale Heart” dwells on themes of true insanity and what it does to its victims. The unnamed narrator begins a fixation of an old man’s eye and decides the old man meet his demise for him to truly receive peace. There is tension between readers of “The Tell-Tale Heart” over if the illness within the narrator is mentally ill or not. Throughout the story his mental illnesses are showcased first-person, including a continuous plot of him trying to prove to himself that he is not mad, and a subconscious guilt for murdering the old man.
