Many people struggle with the decision of where they want to go to college and what they would like to do for the rest of my life. For me, this choice was made easier with this ticket. This ticket was to a Texas A&M football game, but in a broader sense it was a ticket to much more than just a football game; it was a ticket to the Aggie experience and what it means to be a Texas Aggie.
Many of the traditions that make Texas A&M unique find their origins in Texas Aggie football. Standing with the student body as part of the 12th Man helped me to understand the traditions and commitment of the original 12th man as he stood on the sidelines. It is this sense of loyalty to the 12th Man that makes every Aggie fan proud when they hear the roar of the crowd. Aggies say that they have seen their team win and lose, but none have ever seen them quit. This is the same when it comes to the Texas Aggies, and part of what makes Texas A&M so special.
My ticket to the Aggie experience actually started the night before the football game at Midnight Yell. With the thousands gathered in Kyle Field at midnight, the Yell Leaders walk in a line from end zone to end zone and tell mysterious stories about the Aggies beating the opposing team by 22 points the last time they played. When the crowd sings the Aggie War Hymn, the

The Aggie experience must be experienced: feeling fellow Aggies tugging you side to side as you sing “saw Varsity’s horns off’, hearing roar of the crowd and the boom of the cannon whenever the Aggies score, following the corp members down Military Walk as they carry the Yell Leaders the Fish Pond. Finally, the experience is topped off with the hysteria of finding a seat at Layne's afterwards to eat, making sure to tuck your ticket stub away for
People always ask “what is an Aggie” an Aggie is a student attending Texas A&M University. In the 1900s, Texas A&M students were called "Texas A&M, the state's first public institution of higher education.”
My state is Texas. It makes up 1/12 of all of America's land. It joined the union December 29, 1845 making it the 28th state to join. It is also known as the Lone Star State. But it got its name from the Indian word ‘tejas’ which means friend.
The Houston Cougars were the darlings of the 2015 college football season thanks to their head coach Tom Herman, leading them to a 13-1 record and a Peach Bowl victory over the Florida State Seminoles.
People knew the Aggies would be good but its safe to say they've exceeded expectations so far this season. With convincing wins over Iowa State, Baylor, Texas, LSU and Florida, they already look primed for a three seed or above in the NCAA tournament.
In today’s society, a good quality education is an important and valuable necessity. As a college student at Lone Star College, my college experience has greatly influenced me in an enormous amount of ways. By attending college, I have not only had a chance to receive a quality education and degree, but also an opportunity to socialize and interact with various people from different cultures. In addition, the professors on campus have been extremely helpful towards teaching me to succeed in both inside and outside the class room. Furthermore, my college experience at Lone Star has greatly influenced and encouraged me to be successful and achieve my dream of becoming a doctor.
Woooooooooo, Pig! Soooie! October the 25th is the day every year I’m reminded how my family “sacrificed attending the Arkansas vs. Auburn game” to be at my birth in 1997. Raised in a family of whole hearted, Hog fans, the University of Arkansas has always felt like home. As a young child, making the scenic drive from southeast Arkansas to the Ozark Mountains fascinated me. The beauty of the nature had such an enchanting charm about it. I will always remember as a little girl walking through the campus telling my parents, “just wait and see, Madison Brooke Miller will be engraved on the sidewalks of senior walk.” Growing up, it was the traditions that first intrigued me about the U of A, though after visiting a variety of universities out
The Jayhawks are an American alternative country and country rock band that emerged from the Twin Cities music scene during the mid-1980s. Their country rock sound was influential on many bands who played the Twin Cities circuit during the 1980s and 1990s like Uncle Tupelo, The Gear Daddies and The Honeydogs. They have released several studio albums, including five on the American Recordings label. On hiatus from 2005 to 2009, the band has since reunited and released a new album, Mockingbird Time, in September 2011.[1] After another brief hiatus, The 1997 touring lineup will be reuniting to play shows in 2014 to support the reissue of 3 albums released between 1997 and
Football is back in Aggie Land! Well for the Spring at least; as the North Carolina Agriculture & Technical State University football team held their annual Blue vs Gold Spring Game on last Sunday afternoon. There were some big plays, some stand out players and a hard hitting action last Sunday, so let’s hop in.
As I walk down music note road I listen to the delightful sound of the acoustic guitars playing one of my favorite songs. Everywhere I look I see amazing artists singing. The cars are made out of old musical instruments that play relaxing jazz. The beautiful blue beach sounds like classic pop music. I ask the dj to play a song and me and my friends dance. I walk home with my friend on the piano sidewalk and look at the gorgeous guitar trees blooming in the spring. I pick the flute flowers and make a buckeye. I say hello to everyone walking by and give the buckeye to my friend. I look around this beautiful town and think I'm the luckiest person in the world. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Then I walk to music school. At school we learn
As a candidate for the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Honors College, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the invitation to submit an application for consideration. As a UTSA student-athlete, such an opportunity is an extraordinary moment in my life, reason being, the UTSA Honors College invitation validates that I am worthy of the title a true student-athlete. Accordingly, this opportunity dispels the negative stereotypical categorization associated with being an athlete; therefore, to represent UTSA Football Team in this educational endeavor is an honor.
Charles H. Martin wrote a compelling monograph about the journey of segregation in college sports. The book showed readers how the “color line” in college football, specifically in southern football, reflected the traditions and beliefs of southern society. The reader gets a glance into the complete segregation of college sports to the complete integration of all college sports. In the beginning, African American students could not play sports on all-white teams and they could not go to the same schools at white students or even drink from the same water fountain as white students. The reader gets to walk through the history of the integration of college sports with Martin to eventually see full integration.
It was September 17th, 2016. There I am sitting in the student section, next to some of the most school-spirited people I have ever seen in my entire life. Everywhere I looked, Syracuse fans were dressed in orange representing their school. I watched as students, and families, like I had mentioned were all gathered in this enclosed dome to celebrate the Homecoming Football Game on that surprisingly hot day in Syracuse, New York.
A recent breakthrough had happened during the winter of 1875 as a indian tribe the Sioux tribe had came into white settlers territory and raided the whole place. How did this all happen? We had many Interviews and discussion from many perspective point of view about the Longhorn Bighorn. As white settlers came into Dakota and Montana a tribe of indians the Sioux tribe was already there. the Whites began to preclude the Sioux tribe out of the land and putting them in Indian reservations. The Sioux tribe refused live in the reservations and began to have controversy. The sioux tribe began to steal cattle horses, and began to raid white settlements.
When I was asked to take a picture of something on Centenary campus that was meaning full to me,the first idea that that came to me was Centenary wrestling All-American trophies. Centenary wrestling has 9 All-Americans. To become a All-American you must “buy in to the program”. Buying in to the program is a saying Coach Garrquies tells all of his
BOOM! I was scared to tears the first time I visited the campus of Virginia Tech. I was four years old. As the marching band played, I held my father’s hand and walked into Lane Stadium. And then it happened. BOOM! The cannon blasted marking the touchdown in the opening minutes of the game as we walked by. I jumped and I may have cried, but it is a memory of pure excitement. Being a Hokie means I will make new life-long memories.
