The risky part about driving and texting is that most people can’t multitask the two together, so people are either paying attention to the road or, which is most likely, the phone. One time I remember my family and I were going to central Philadelphia, and in the highway someone in front of us was going right and left, we thought that he was drunk or on something, but when we passed the car, a young teenage boy was texting. This example provided me how risky driving and texting on the phone is, what if he either turns too much right or left and hits a car, or worse a pedestrian. Also when texting people we use one hand to text and the other to drive, however what if a really sharp turn pops up. The scary thing about it is that I have seen people text in two hands while driving which was basically wishing for their own death. Overall, the people who text and drive could really be putting themselves in danger because one, they are not paying attention and two, they are driving with only one hand and for some no

Furthermore, millions of people die when they are distracted while driving because their eyes are not fully on the road and they are not really paying careful attention. It all leads to deaths, crashes, etc. People tend to forget how dangerous it is to text while they are driving. Texting while driving has become such a problem these days with people being distracted and causing accidents all because of their phones. Texting and driving is dangerous in general, but one major issue with texting and driving is that it takes the driver’s hands off of the wheel. In order to drive the car safely, both of the driver’s hands must be on the wheel and if the driver is texting chances are at least one, if not both of their hands are on a cellphone. “In just the 5 seconds it takes to send or read a short text message, you’ve already zoomed past the length of a football field”(Texting & Driving). So while the driver is not driving the car the way they should because they are holding their phone instead of the wheel, there could be cars pulling out in front of them, stop signs, stop lights, or pedestrians crossing in front of the car. This puts not only the driver at risk, but it also puts other drivers on the road and pedestrians at risk.
