As Thanksgiving is being headed into I have multiple things to be thankful for in my life. I am very fortunate for everything in my existence. Many people don’t have the things I do. Citizens in Kenya and Africa and multiple other places live in small shacks and barely get enough to eat. Plus while we’ll be gorging ourselves tomorrow on this thankful holiday they will still only be getting about one small meal to eat. I’m not only thankful for a good source of food, but I have many other things I have to feel grateful for. One of these things being is my house and yard. I live on a lake which is a huge luxury for some people and I am very fortunate to have this. I also have a large yard filled with things to do. Another group i can be grateful …show more content…
The sports I participate in are also a large portion of how I spend my life. I attend Alpena Gymnastics, do aerial silk and sometimes like playing soccer and basketball. These things of course all cost money which I am very blessed to have. Sports not only give me something to be involved in, they also give me friends and morals. Money and a stable income in my family result in happiness. A way that my family expresses that is by traveling. We’ve gone multiple places inside and outside of the country. I have also realized that I have many possessions. I own a lot of clothing and things i need, but my collection of belongings also consists of things I don’t need. These are some things I should feel grateful to be able to do. The biggest most important thing to have is family and I have a large one. My own family consists of 7 people and my extended family is very sizable also. My mom has 4 siblings and my dad has 6, which almost everyone had kids. This Thanksgiving most of us will be eating together at my uncle and aunt’s house downstate. Being able to gather like this and make memories is a huge blessing as well. Overall I have many things that I can and should feel thankful for and blessed for in my
This year Thanksgiving is on November 23,2017. Every year my family Thanksgiving is the best, to me at least. So we always have Thanksgiving at my Grandmas and Grandpas, but not this year we are having it at my house. Which I mean could be good and bad. Good is it is at my house so it’s cool and bad, the house has to be completely spotless or my mom will freak out. Normally what we do every year is we get my family together and have dinner, mess around, and watch football. This year my dad's brother is coming with his three daughters and his wife and my grandpa and grandma. I really can’t wait to see them all because I don't really see them that much as I would like to. When we have a family dinner like this we always have a lot of food for everyone.
If you're planning to renovate your home, you probably have several problems you want to solve to make your home more user-friendly. Although you may be focused on addressing the immediate needs and wants of everyone in your home, you should also plan your renovations with an eye for future needs.
When I imagine “The First Thanksgiving”, I think of peace and harmony. Then my History complex comes in, I remember all of the rape, cannibalism, and disease spreading that happened in the years before “The First Thanksgiving” ruin my picture perfect scene. The Pilgrims did not have a farming aspect when they came to The New Colony but with the help of the Native Americans they learned how to survive. When I was younger we always were taught that this time, in history, everyone got along and they were happy. The Pilgrims came to have religious freedom and not to be treated as second class citizens. This is a notable act but they had various pathogens that they were immuned to but the Natives were not. Historians say that the pathogens that
A day before Thanksgiving in 1971 a guy that called himself Dan Cooper boarded the NorthWest Airlines on flight 305. He was in a wearing a dark suit with a black business-like tie. While Dan was in the airplane he opened a brief case and showed the flight attendant a bomb. When the plane landed in Seattle, Dan demanded $200,000 in cash, four parachutes, and food for the crew. He let the passengers off the plane but left three pilots and a flight attendant on board. The crew in the airplane headed South of Seattle while it was dark and drizzling. 45 minutes after takeoff Dan sent the flight attendant to the cockpit while he was putting on the parachute. Dan also tied the money to himself and lowered the back stairs and somewhere in Portland
We set sail from England to create the first permanent settlement in North America. We could only go to North America, because our king, King George, granted us charter to establish a colony named Virginia. We landed in Virginia around May 13, 1607, and created a fort called Jamestown. We built our fort on a peninsula, which my friends and fellow shipmates died by diseases. We came much unprepared for this type of life. Most of us came for gold, silver, lumber, and furs in which we could sell in Europe.
Thank you for your service! I admire your commitment to work full time and take college classes. I am a military brat and spent many years living on post. I have experienced not having a vehicle and walking to the exchange for both lunch and dinner. I also ate at the DFAC for many Thanksgiving Day dinners. Good luck this semester!

While children are growing up in America, they are told several tales of America’s establishment and history. However, these stories are generally not told as they actually happened. An instance of this is the story of the Pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is explained as this elaborate ceremony where the Pilgrims and Indians gathered in harmony at this large harvest in celebration of their coming together. According to the primary document of William Bradford’s journal, Thanksgiving didn’t pan out quite as it is explained to Americans today. In the film, The Addams Family Values, the Addams children take part in a traditional, yet misconceived celebration of the first Thanksgiving. This
Here are popular events in South Phoenix, Arizona, taking place during the 4-day Thanksgiving weekend for seniors to enjoy:
I hummed along to the radio that always played in the kitchen as I cooked. My body move back and forth to the catchy tune while I iced a lemon pound cake. As the pots on the stove bubbled and spit steam, the timer started buzzing on the counter top. The turkey was ready, and I couldn’t wait to see how it looked. After baking it all night, I was finally about to pull the big bird out of the oven.
It was Thanksgiving Day and for the Johnson’s that meant football and a classic Thanksgiving meal. In the morning the mom began her long hot day of slaving in the kitchen to get food ready. She started by prepping and stuffing the 10 pound turkey. Then she was cleaning all the dirt off of the potatoes in boiling water to soften and cook them. Once she had finished all of her cooking the house was smelling better that it had ever before. The food looked delicious, perfectly creamy potatoes, a golden brown turkey, corn on the cob covered in butter, and a big bowl of stuffing. It was about 3pm when they decided it was time to eat all of that good food. The Johnsons had 3 teenage boys who play football and are excited to eat and watch the games.
The next day after Thanksgiving, which always is on the fourth Thursday of November, is called Black Friday and it usually marks the beginning of the holiday shopping season. It has come to be known as the busiest shopping day of the year.
Yes, the teacher excitedly told the students that they were sharing American Thanksgiving Experiences. The teacher repeated the question with some animated gestures and a very approachable tone to share their experiences on Thanksgiving celebration. All students took turns in narrating their experiences in simple but understandable English.
The holidays are terrible, yes most people say about how the holidays are amazing fun. People celebrate Christmas thanksgiving and new-year, with family and have fun, well for some people the holiday season is a absolute terror. Aunts who kiss you and say how much you’ve grown and changed your looks, Uncles who always makes it appoint to make a racist comments and always turns in to a conversation about politics. While the children run around screaming and playing with their new toys. The teenagers are the best favorite the guys in the family can choose two different paths to take. First they can of course join in on the racist comments or, they can just play video games the entire time. Teenage girls though can also pick to different choices,
On Thanksgiving Day, I decided to observe my 86-year-old grandmother. I was with her for the whole day. My observation began that morning when she woke up and walked into the living room. My grandma started off with turning on the coffee maker. While her coffee was brewing she went and took a shower. When she was done showering she went to make her a cup of coffee and then she had a seat on the couch. My grandma told my little cousin to bring her purse out of her room. He brought it to her. She then pulled out a bag of pills. She picked out 5 different ones and then took them with her cup of coffee. She then took the rollers out of her hair as she sat and watched the morning news. While she was watching the news, she remembered that the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade was on and told me to turn the channel to it.
