     Child Labor, refers to the economically active population under the age of fifteen years old, who are employed in various industries (Grootaert, 2). Recently, child labor has become a large topic of debate; however, in most cases, it is very unfavorable. The perception that globalization is leading towards the exploitation of children, is becoming an important problem for international business. In my opinion, child labor should be eradicated. It is not only harmful to the health of children, but it takes away their chance for an education, and simply takes away their childhood.

When their work do not affect their “health and personal development or interfere with their schooling,” they do not fit the negative notion of child labor (ILO, 1996). Children sometimes assist their parents with housework and take a part in building family businesses without their working hours affecting primary education. This is indeed a beneficial experience for children, because they learn to be productive within their communities. On the other hand, ILO (1996) applies the term child labor when work “is mentally, physically, socially or morally dangerous and harmful to children; and interferes with their schooling by; depriving them of the opportunity to attend school; obliging them to leave school prematurely; or requiring them to attempt to combine school attendance with excessively long and heavy work.” When child labor is engaged in enslavement, separation from families, and misplacement of children on the streets, ILO experts refer to it as the most extreme forms of child

Throughout history, children have always worked, either as apprentices or servants. However, child labor reached a whole new scale during the time period of the Industrial Revolution. Throughout the time frame of late 1800s-early 1900s, children worked long hours in dangerous factory conditions for very little wages. They were considered useful as laborers because their small stature allowed them to be cramped into smaller spaces, and they could be paid less for their services. Many worked to help support their families, and by doing so, they forwent their education. Numerous nineteenth century reformers and labor groups sought to restrict child labor and to improve working conditions.

Children are being robbed of their childhood by corporations, that do not care about them. These corporations turn a blind eye towards the dissatisfying life, that is led by these children. They do not care about the children's education or the manner in which they grow up, and they expose them to harsh physical labor and unsatisfactory pay. These children are robbed of the years in which they should lead a normal child's life, and they don't get to truly enjoy being a child. These children are exposed to unhealthy situations to both the body and the mind,situations that a child should not be involved in. They are often unable to pursue proper academic studies, because of their jobs, and this could be because they aren't allowed to study, or simply that the lifestyle they lead doesn't allow them to study. On the other hand, children working at a younger age helps them shape an appreciation for hard work, and they learn to value money and time. Working at an early age also helps shape the economy of the third world countries that these children work

During the Industrial Revolution and in the Romantic Period, child labor was very common for most of the children that lived during that time. Many of the families were very poor and needed all the extra money that they could get. Children were sent to work in various workplaces such as factories, mines, and even mills. The children received little or no pay from their jobs. The workplaces required extremely long work hours usually from sun up to sun down with very few breaks in between. Most children also received very harsh treatment if they slacked off of their work. The owners of the companies gave little or no attention to the children. They wanted the production to be made each day no matter how hard it was on them.

Child Labor is not an isolated problem. The phenomenon of child labor is an effect of economic discrimination. In different parts of the world, at different stages of histories, laboring of child has been a part of economic life. More than 200 million children worldwide, some are as young as 4 and 5

The economy is steadily changing and is an essential part of every person’s basic needs. Families in lower economic brackets are finding it harder and harder to make ends meet, whereas, families in higher income brackets enjoy vacations and the luxuries money can offer. Today’s children in this world are ever more exposed to these diversities and are exploited for labor in today’s child labor black market. You may have imagined children in third world countries working in the fields or in the factories, but what about American born children living within the borders of the United States. Well, if you thought that was impossible, that children can’t possibly be working in United States Factories, or fields, you were wrong. Well according to the article Child Labor of America, over two million children ages four thru sixteen worked in the United States labor force during the 19th century.

The term “child labor” refers to children who work to produce a good or service which is then sold for money in a marketplace. Many of these children were either not paid or paid dismal wages. The exact ages of childhood differ between countries and time periods though it is documented that children as young as four were of idle working age in Britain during the Industrial Revolution (Child Labor during the British Industrial Revolution). The two most common forms of children in factories were “Parish apprentice children,” and “free labor children.”

Although children had been servants and apprentices throughout most of human history, child labor reached new extremes during the Industrial Revolution.There was a big impact on the daily life of a child labourer as poor children often worked full time jobs with minimal pay in order to help support their families. Young children worked long hours in factories under dangerous conditions. children were easier to manage and control than adults because their size was perfect as it allowed them to move in small spaces in factories or mines.The practice of child labor continued throughout much of the Industrial Revolution until laws were eventually passed that made child labor illegal.

Although we can all appreciate our parents making us deliver newspaper to teach us the value of the dollar, it's on the other end of the continuum we need to be concerned about. When children are forced to work long hours in the fields, their ability to attend school or skills training is limited, and consequently, so are their possibilities of economic and social mobility and advancement in later life.

The percent of children in the ages 5-14 year old working is 25.8 which is 4,692,293. The percent of children that are in school between the ages of 5-14 is 59.8. It is good to know that most of the kids are in school but it still affects the education of that 25.8 percent of the kid that are working. Children also work as domestic servants. Children may work long hours, and their isolation in home makes them susceptible to sexual abuse. Children living on the streets sell food and water, carry packages, unload buses, engage in prostitution and distribute drugs and alcohol. These activities expose them to various forms of exploitation, including physical abuse, intimidation and theft. There are reports that children also are forced to work in quarries, breaking stones into gravel. And there still fighting for their lives to be as normal as any other young child in this

In conclusion, child labor is a crutch that holds up the economies across the globe. Without it everything would come crashing down. Businesses should not bow to critical pressure, for in doubt businesses are helping undo unemployment and financial crash across all nations.
