On the other hand, he believes that if I have a boyfriend, I am going to get pregnant and stop attending school, like every girl my age. This world is enormous, complicated, and scary at some points, but when you really want something and are passionate about your goal, it will come true no matter the circumstance. Life is not easy as my many obstacles will cross our way, but we all just have to find a way into fighting it. Like with my father, I have learned that this is my life and I have to do what makes me happy. And what makes me happy is that I have someone besides my family that loves me and who I love back and that I am one step closer into getting my career that I chose. One thing is that we have to have faith and believe that we can do or be with what makes us happy, as I do in my relationship and career. As in the book stated, “when you really want something it’s because that desire originated in the soul of the universe. It’s your mission on earth. And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it" (22). As stated here faith will bring whatever you really are wanting. If it is your soul, no matter what obstacle crosses you, you need to keep
The book I read is called The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. The Alchemist is about a boy from Spain, whose name is Santiago and is a shepherd. The book tells how he gets around countries, and how he deals with his problems and how he solves them. It shows how he follows his dreams, and who helps him along the way.
This is one of the ways to overcome obstacles like a genius. We must not wait for outside support when we want to pursue our dreams. We can dig deep and find all the answers that we need to keep going. The difference between a genius and an ordinary person is revealed by what they do when they hit a roadblock. The power to become all that we want to be lies within our soul. We can unleash a huge amount of positive energy when we stay excited about what the future holds for us.
As the author said, sometimes the fate can be changed by choice you make. It encourages the reader that it is always possible to change and fix destinies before it is too late. One important quote that the author wrote is, “This book is meant to show us how... our destinies can be determined by a single stumble down the wrong path , or a tentative step down the right one." (Moore xiv).

Sometimes, in life we lose everything that we deem as important so that we are able to find out what truly is. The two works that I’ll be examining correspond to this statement. By examining the works Siddhartha by Herman Hesse and The History by Herodotus, we can see that being happy in life doesn’t always come easily and there are some bumps along the road to get there. Siddhartha shows us that in order to achieve the happiness that we want, we have to look at the life we are living at the moment and decide if it is what we really want. And The History also shows us that in order to achieve the happiness we want in life, we have to reflect on the life we’ve lived and make a change. Siddhartha and Croesus teach us that the obstacles we face are the stepping stones
However, if we choose to give up on ourselves in the middle of the journey just because we have low self-esteem and do not believe that others can support us, we can never be successful. Hence, only the person who endures throughout the journey and believes strongly in hope is qualified enough to be successful.
There are many obstacles in everyday life, but none as detrimental to ones future as fear. Fear can cause people to not only avoid achieving their goals in life but it also forces them to think about it throughout every day. Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist shows that those who wallow in fear will never achieve their personal legend, and those who conquer fear will achieve anything they strive for. Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist is a commonly analyzed and criticized piece of literature. One of these articles is Rejendra Kumar Dash’s “Alchemy of the Soul: A Comparative Study of Hermann Hesse’s Siddhartha and Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist”. Dash’s article is a literary criticism of the different parts of the character’s journey in The Alchemist.

The Alchemist by Paul Coelho starts off with a shepherd boy named Santiago. He grew up on the countryside of Andalusia with his herd of sheep. They traveled far and wide, all over the region seeing new sites and meeting new people. He had been having the same reoccurring dream that haunted him for some time now so he decided to go into the village of Tarifa to visit a Gypsy woman that could interpret dreams. He explained his dream to her and she said that he must go to Egypt and search for his treasure by the pyramids. He nor the gypsy knew what his treasure was or how to find it but he must give her a portion of his findings to the gypsy. Santiago then met an old man, the king of Salem to be exact.
