The American Civil War began on April 12 1861. There are several reason that the Civil war began. The first reason was the major difference in the economic and social status that was taking place in the South versus the North. Second reason that the war broke out was the issue of states’ rights versus federal rights when it came to who would have more power in the states. The third reason was

Meanwhile in the North they were an economy based on agriculture. The North was using raw cotton and turning it into finish goods. This would cause a rift in the economy of the north and the south. This change meant the evolution of the North would bring many different races and classes having to work together to accomplish their new way of life. With the south stuck in their antiquated ways they would fall behind in infrastructure and technology. The issue of State Rights versus Federal Rights was other major issue that would bring on the Civil War in America. This had been an issue since the American Revolution. With the introduction of The Articles of Confederation. The Article of Confederations gave the power to the federal government. This weak federal government would soon be replaced when the Articles of Confederation would replace with the U. S. Constitution in 1789. This caused many issues among the states. Many of the states felt that they should be able to decide if they were going to consent to certain federal acts. This would bring about the idea of nullification, which would give the states the right to rule federal act unconstitutional. The new government would deny the idea of nullification pushing the states to move toward secession. The third issues that cause problems between the north and the south was the issues of whether the new states that were entering the union, would they be a slave or non-slave state. The
America’s transformation into the country we live in today has been formed through numerous events during its short history but the event that will split the United States into North versus South is truly one of the most defining events in American history. Through numerous events leading up to the start of the Civil War, I will attempt to show how the United States was destined for conflict and that the Civil War was inevitable. The first way I will show how the war could not be avoided will deal with the issue of slavery. Slavery should be the first mentioned because many conflicts within the United States leading up to the Civil War and the division of the United States dealt with slavery. The Missouri Compromise should also be talked
The Civil War was provoked for several reasons which included industry, slavery, and territorial disputes among the Northern states and Southern states of the newly established United States. The first recorded engagement of war between the North and South is documented to have taken place on April 12th, 1861 at The Battle of Fort Sumter. This was the starting point of a war that would claim over 600,000 American lives in a relatively short span of 4 years.
Many different issues upon the north and south caused the Civil War, but slavery was the main conflict. Due to slavery, different political beliefs and systems were created causing conflicts such as disagreements during Westward Expansion and the election of Lincoln. The Constitution tried to balance the inequalities with many compromises, yet failed.
The Civil war had started in 1861 in fort Sumter when the southern states did not wish to give up slaves, due to the hiring of paid labor would decrease profits. It was the summer in 1863 and General Lee was trying to figure out how to best end the war, with the succession being successful or victory for the south.
The Civil War was caused by economic conflict, slavery issues and the disagreements between the North and South.
Jim Murphy wrote a book called the Long Road To Gettysburg. It is a nonfiction book. It has 109 pages. The two main characters are General Robert E. Lee for the South and General Meade for the North. Other minor characters include General Joseph Hooker of the North and General John Dooley of the South. This book teaches you the Horrors of Gettysburg. The theme is violence is never the answer.
There were many problems, events, and situations that led to the Civil War. One of the major reasons for the outbreak of the war was sectionalism. Once the United States was split, many of the country's fundamental issues were disputed, with slavery being at the top of the list. Some of the other major issues in dispute were representation, tariffs, and states' rights. Sectionalism is defined as, the sharp socio-economic differences that divided the Northern and the Southern states in the U.S.
The Battle of Gettysburg involved (who’s)Union’s army lead by George Meade and Confederate’s army lead by Robert E. Lee. George Meade, was born december 31, 1815 in Cadiz, Spain. Robert E. lee was born January 19, 1807 in Stratford Hall, VA. The Battle of Gettysburg was a way to try and stop Confederate general, Robert E. Lee from the second invasion of the north. It also occurred as a result of General Robert E. Lee's push north into Pennsylvania in an attempt to move the mass of the fighting in the east away from Virginia and into Union territory.
The Civil War happened due to the many differences between the North and the South. For example economic, social, cultural and political differences. These all helped lead America to a Civil War. But to an extent, the most important cause was the fact there were many disagreements with states' rights versus federal rights.
Disagreements between the North and South over State’s rights, interpretation of the constitution, and tariffs were more significant as to the cause of the Civil War than the opposing views on slavery. Even today there are still hard feelings between the north and south and democrats and republicans because of how things turned out during the Civil War. There are also still differences of opinion as to the true reason for this war. This being said, it could be easily assumed that slavery was the key issue. But as we all know, the emancipation proclamation was not signed until after the war began, which showed that freeing slaves wasn’t the priority.
The Killer Angels is an historical novel about the Battle of Gettysburg during the Civil War. The book captures the human nature of many historical figures over three fateful days in rural Pennsylvania in 1863. North and South, Yankee and Confederate; The Killer Angels provides a glimpse into the hearts and souls of some of the men who fought in this infamous battle and their own reasons for being in a fight to the death against their fellow countrymen.
The civil war, fought from 1861-1865, was started after seven southern slave states declared their secession and formed the Confederate states. The Union had many advantages that, ultimately, led them to victory. The had many political, economic, and military benefits that aided them in their victory.
The Civil War, often called the War for Southern Independence began on April 12, 1861. The main cause of the war was slavery. The southern states depended on slaves to help grow crops which were the main source of income for the south. Slavery was illegal in all of the northern states but most people actually were neutral about it. The main conflict was if slavery should be permitted in the newly developing western territories.
In 1860, the world 's greatest nation was locked in Civil War. The war divided the country between the North and South. There were many factors that caused this war, but the main ones were the different interpretations of the Constitution by the North and South, the Kansas-Nebraska Act, and the arrival of
Gettysburg was fought during the Civil War between the Union Army of the Potomac led by General Meade, and the Confederate Army commanded by General R.E. Lee. The battle only was waged over the course of three days, but it would prove to be the most costly of the entire Civil War. In this paper, we will show how the Confederacy failed to identify certain principles of war, which lead them to incorrectly conduct a center of gravity and critical vulnerability analysis on the Union. Because of this failure, the Confederacy opened the door for the Union to score a decisive victory.
