The Big Impact Of The French Revolution On The Restaurant

The initial impulse of the French revolution was destructive. For those who lived through all, or even part, of these vast upheavals, the shock was overwhelming. Maximilien Robespierre was a proud disciple of the enlightenment and declared that no political writer had foreseen this revolution. Robespierre (1758-1794) was one of the leaders of the Committee of Public Safety, the effective governing body of France during the most radical phase of the revolution. The leaders of this revolution attempted, perhaps more than any other revolutionary leaders before or since, to totally transform human society in every way. (Supreme Being) Although Robespierre began with patriotic intent he still was the face of the Reign of Terror and was viewed as being a radical person.

As the Enlightenment began in the middle of the 17th century, people began to use reason rather than stick to tradition. New Enlightenment ideas spread throughout Europe such as ideas on government. Enlightenment thinkers such as Rousenan believed that the best government was one formed with the general consent of the people. Other Enlightenment thinkers such as Voltaire and Montesquieu believed in freedom of speech and a separation of power within the government. All of these ideas led to the French revolution. During the time period France was still an absolute monarchy under King Louis XVI, causing people to want change by implying new Enlightenment ideas. The revolution in France broke out in 1789 do to social, economical, and political issues including the growth of bourgeoisies, taxes were paid unevenly throughout the three Estates of France, and the Third Estate’s desire for a representative government.

When it comes to dining-in at a restaurant we all want the best service that we can get. When I think of “the best service” I think about the cleanliness, nice waitresses, good food, and affordable prices. There are so many different options when a family thinks about going out to eat, especially if they have small children. It’s often hard to go to a nice dine-in restaurant because sometimes it’s hard to find something on the menu for everyone in the family. I have experienced many things at two completely different restaurants. I can say Demos’ is better than Logan’s because the food and service is much better.

The revolution seemed necessary for the idea of the enlightenment era. The main people who the French were trying to meet the ideas were Montesquieu, Voltaire, or Rousseau.

The American Revolution, along with many revolutions occurring throughout Central America, were all directly inspired by the French Revolution of the late 1700’s. Evidence of this can be seen simply by looking back at world history. History shows that many philosophies of the American Revolution were actually ideas that either closely parallel or are directly taken from the writing of various French scholars, such as Voltaire and The Baron De Montesquieu. The very essence of American politics, Democracy, is in actuality, a French concept as well. Democracy was originally created following the French Revolution to replace the Monarchy.

New ideas sparked change and conflict in the late 18th and throughout the 19 centuries when the french revolution was in place. it changed the idea of government and it sparked a series of revolutions later on in the world. however, even before that, the enlightenment period was a change in the way people thought as to why and how things work. this also caused conflict because the new scientific ideas that were found,explained many things was against the word of the catholic church/ the pope.

Chefs and restaurant owners goal during the revolutionary war of French cooking was to make new and personalized dishes that were made with combinations that never existed before. Chefs and cooks while getting their professional training were instructed and forced to learn how to cook dishes that were considered standards of cooking and are now called classical cuisine. Chefs began to grow tired of making the same dishes and using the same recipe, these chefs than began to rebel against the establishment of cooking. These chefs started to experiment and tamper with dishes to see what new creations that they can

The French Revolution was a time rife with violence, with many revolutionaries using extreme actions to overturn the French Monarchy and create a government based on equality and justice, rather than tyranny and despotism. This violence reached gruesome and terrible heights throughout the revolution, but was justified by the revolutionaries, who believed that their goals of total equality, the end of tyranny, and the return to a virtuous society, allowed them to use means necessary to attain these sublime and holy goals. Their goal of total virtue for France was a good goal, but the methods in which they attempted to achieve it were tyrannical. Additionally, nationalism was used as method of convincing the French that pure and virtuous thoughts that drove the revolutionaries to such terrible heights. The Committee of Public Safety believed that personal freedom should be foregone in order to protect France from foreign monarchies in Europe who wanted to reinstall the monarchy. Although their original intention was to better France through overthrowing the monarchy, their methods in eradicating the ideology of the monarchy were cruel and extensively terrible.

The French Revolution of 1789 was one of the biggest upheavals in history. You may be wondering what exactly led this to happen, but there were multiple long range causes. Political, social, and economic conditions ultimately led to the discontent of many French people especially those of the third estate. The ideals of the Enlightenment brought new views to government and society.

Bread and salt were the foundation of cuisine for the French, take this away or add taxes to it a revolution would begin and that is exactly what happened. Although the French Revolution had many factors that played in the cause of it, food was a huge contributor. Not only did food had a profound effect on the French Revolution, but the French Revolution greatly impact the culinary world in its aftermath.

America and more specifically, New York is a center of international cuisine. It is quite easy to find all manners of French food in New York, from macarons to baguettes to bouillabaisse. One can experience the fine dining of “France” or can taste the specialties of a tiny French bistro and still stay in New York.

This long period of social, political and economic change in France lasted 10 years, starting in 1798 and ended with Napoleon Bonaparte. The French Revolution greatly affected all of Europe at the time and continues to represent the embodiment of revolution to this day. This constant struggle between the heavily taxed, burdened, and unrepresented third estate and those higher created an environment of monumental change for everyone. In the years leading up to the French Revolution, new beliefs and ideas were reaching every corner of Europe creating the thought that men should live free of oppression. However, in France the leader Louis XVI lead like a tyrant leaving the people impoverish and angry. Through the analysation of numerous circumstance present during the Ancien Régime, such as an inferior fiscal leadership, massive debt, and the forthcoming of new ideas during the Enlightened period, it can be concluded that the means for this revolution were justified as it is in our essence to revolt for a change.

Edmund Burke published the Reflections on the Revolution in France in 1790; after the Bastille had been stormed by the Paris mol. He reflects upon about how France was very chaotic. Burke opposed the values of his contemporary revolutionaries; and he predicted that the French revolution would cause problems of fear and chaos to the country. Burke also believed that the revolutionary leaders were more interested in themselves and that they wanted power, however; and really did not care about the well-being of the French people. He believed in the concepts of liberty, equality and the right for everyone; he argues that people should have the opportunity to own their private property. Furthermore, Burke viewed the revolution as a violent takeover of the government, emphasizing that citizens should not have the right to do this. He also argues about importance of tradition in that tradition is what holds society together.
