The Black Lives Matter Movement

1.The #BlackLivesMatter movement was created by Alicia Garza,Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi after the George Zimmerman was found not guilty to Trayvon Martin death. Black Lives Matter is supposed to bring awareness of the systematic oppression of black people in America.

Alicia Garza created the Black Lives Matter Movement with Patrisse Cullors and Opal Tometi after the death of 17 year old Trayvon Martin. Black Lives Matter is an ideological and social group in a world where black lives are systematically and institutionally targeted. It became more than a hashtag and began to empower people. They began to move the hashtag from social media to the streets. It is movement to all people and supports the coming together to fight and protest against oppression. It has had many public protests in cities worldwide with supporters of all races in tow. The Black Lives Matter Movement has connected people across the country working to end the various forms of injustice impacting our people today. Alicia Garza along with her co-founders of the movement have hosted national conference calls focused on issues that are critical to working hard for the liberation of African Americans. The goal is according the the founders of this movements is to create a space for the celebration and humanization of black lives.

When Melba has eggs thrown at her at the moment she feels embarrassed, when talking to her grandma she has figured that white people see it as a form of control to make them feel bad about themselves. When talking to her grandma she sees how being unhappy with herself makes the boys who had thrown eggs at Melba happy and make themselves feel powerful because they know they took something from her.

The Black Lives Matter movement has been floating through social media for many years now. According to the official Black Lives Matter website “Black Lives Matter is a chapter-based national organization working for the validity of Black life. We are working to rebuild the Black liberation movement.”  The movement was formed against law enforcement officers murdering African Americans because of fear. Black Lives Matter was created by Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi, a group of activists who are now close friends.The movement was created in 2012 after George Zimmerman was found innocent for the murder of Trayvon Martin. There were many unlawful crimes involving police officers killing African Americans that have affected the supporters of Black Lives Matter.

For many years, there has been an unjust treating of the African American race. They have been killed and disrespected by several people, including the police force. Only recently has that been broadcasted in the media. It goes back to the 1960s when ‘televised footage of well-dressed white people heckling black children as they walk to school” (Stephen) to present day that is now being broadcast on various social media platforms. This isn’t being done to show of the actions of these people but more in a way to expose them and the harshness going on in the world. The Black Lives Matter Movement is a spawn of the growing social media culture and has impacted how people treat racism. Now, solidarity and togetherness is possible across the globe

movement in this nation because. It shows how black people are battling for Justice with marching and protesting. Another reason for this movement is that black people are getting shot down by police in their own communities and neighborhoods.

The Black Lives Matter movement is a movement in the wake of the deaths of black men at the hands of police. It continues to gain public attention following to many incidents involving the deaths of unarmed black Americans during the encounter with the police. This issue is gaining widespread awareness from not only black but also white American adults, but attitudes about the movement vary considerably between groups.

A term that is currently up for debate on the meaning is “Black Lives Matter”. The black lives matter movement started as a result of recent black deaths caused by police officers. Examples include, Ferguson Missouri and Baton Rouge. Every time a new black man or woman tragically loses their life at the hands of law enforcement the nation goes into full out protest mode. In an effort to put an end to black men dying this way, the black community started the Black Lives Matter movement. The way that this term was originally meant to be used was in a positive way. The black community wanted their voices to be heard; they wanted the nation to know that they were just as important as everyone else and should be protected equally by the police.

Society recently has been making its job to revert racism and to clarify what being racist is. The Black Lives Matter Movement, founded in 2012 by three women of color is now a household name in less privileged ethnic enclaves. The reason why is because this group focuses on having marginalized groups within the Black community front lining the protests for achieving their justice. However, the Ku Klux Klan founded in 1866 has ideals that completely shift the other direction. They shift towards hate crimes and even domestic terrorism. They are in favor of having white wealthy Christian men in power. Privilege also plays a role within these racialized groups. President Obama said, “When people say Black Lives Matter, that doesn’t mean blue lives don’t matter.” On August of 2014, The Blacks Lives Matter movement began. Why the movement started was because of a white police officer shot a black man Michael Brown just 18 years old. They say it was because they thought he was pulling out a weapon.
