1. Brief autobiographical sketch, including what led to your interest in the practice of clinical psychology.
Elizabeth Gilbert, famed author of Eat, Pray, Love, once wrote, “you spend a lot of your life having people tell you to follow your passion… passion is hot, it burns. Every day, you can’t access that… Instead, follow your curiosity.” After graduating from Terra Nova high school in 2002 I felt pressure to follow my passion and apply for a college degree to pursue it. I was accepted to San Diego State University but declined the offer and instead enrolled in my local community college, Skyline College. I didn’t feel connected to a passion society says young adults should feel after graduating high school. Instead, I took a few classes over two semesters and then decided to leave the bay area where I grew up and move to Las Vegas. It was here in Las Vegas that I discovered what I was curious about (where my curiosities lied?). Las Vegas has an eclectic, diverse, interesting, and beautiful flow of people constantly coming in and out of the city; and it was by observing and interacting with these people everyday that I became curious about human behavior. After taking 10 years away from school I returned to Las Vegas’ College of Southern Nevada in 2012 to receive my associates degree in psychology. I graduated with high honors, as a member of Phi Theta Kappa, and continued on by applying to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) for a bachelor’s in psychology. It was
This discipline i choose for my career field description was structural engineering with is a branch of civil engineering. Structural engineering focuses on the framework of structures and designing structures to withstand the stresses and pressures of their environment and remain safe, stable, and secure throughout their use. In other words, structural engineers make sure that buildings don't fall down and bridges don't collapse. Structural engineering is among the oldest types of engineering, dating back to the first instance of tree branches being lashed together with vines to make a shelter. Throughout history, people have been designing and building increasingly larger and more sophisticated structures, from small huts to the International Space Station.
The future; after high school, after college, the future is a later time period that will happen in one’s life. For my future I plan to attend college and later become an engineer. College is one of the best choices available for high school graduates to ensure a successful future. Colleges offer specialized learning that when attended can open many opportunities. Two colleges I may attend after high school are Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) or California Institute of Technology (Caltech). After college I plan to choose a career in the field of engineering. Two career possibilities are Aerospace Engineering or Biomedical Engineering. By researching these two universities and two possible careers, I have learned about the many possibilities that lie ahead for my future.
A respectable college education gives people the advantage to lead themselves in any direction they want to proceed in life. College is a time that students can truly become individuals. They have the opportunity to become more independent and to take on new responsibilities. The bonuses of a college education include more self-confidence, greater economic stability and security, and it makes you a major contributor to the greatest nation on earth.
My career goal is to be a successful fiction author and to publish over two full series. I’ve chosen this career because I’ve already started writing and I love it. I think that I’d be good at writing because I’m really creative and I love to read, then scribble down whatever pops into my head. I’m always in the middle of writing something and my finger hitting the computer keys is not an uncommon sound. This makes me assume that I’d be good at writing as a career.
What do you want to be when you grow up? Is one of the many questions that are asked by teachers and adults. Through the research and development of this paper, I feel that I am finally prepared to answer that question. College has always been in my plans but which college? Well, I have it narrowed down to three excellent and well -known colleges. Ohio University of Athens, The Ohio State University of Columbus and Miami University are the colleges that I feel would foremost prepare me to become an athletic trainer.
I have been an enthusiastic learner throughout my education, especially having been encouraged to explore more than what is needed to pass while home schooled as a child. Thus, as I head into college, I see a plethora of educational opportunities in my future. I my aim is to take classes to broaden and deepen my education as much as possible, especially since I will now be paying for my own education. My ultimate goal is to master in Library Sciences to become the best librarian as possible alongside being an author. I love to write, but I also know that any good writer must start from the bottom and face rejection before being successful, so being a librarian alongside that to earn money while working with the books I love so much will be
The number one question you will hear during your college career is "what are you majoring in?" Evan Lalonde said "be comfortable with the fact that you don't know anything." (6) the quote expresses to be content with the unknown. College is the time to explore many fields and interests to help you better select a career. There are endless options of classes, clubs, and activities to help spark your passion. I agree with Evan LaLonde’s statement because I think there is tons of pressure put upon us by parents, counselors, and friends to know exactly what we want do with our life when that simply is not the case. One of the advantage of going to a community college is having time to investigate different occupations, it allows us access to
College is the first step in a student’s life in the transition from being a kid into adulthood. As a young child, I had always had 1-2 careers in mind I would like to pursue. My interest in everything finance came early. Each and every Christmas for about 4 straight years I would ask for a toy ATM. My impression at the time is that I would get “unlimited money”. When I finally got one, I would not let go of it. My interest in money didn’t stop there. I was always curious about the way money works and the how the Federal Reserve incorporates and controls it. My interests led me to frequent trips to Washington, D.C. to see the Federal Reserve Bank and other landmarks such as the Capitol and even the White House. I actually discovered and gained
Have you ever wondered if getting a postsecondary degree will help in your future? Well if you said yes then this essay will give you the information on why it is. Earning a postsecondary degree can increase your income according to the article (college still worth it?). Some people prefer not getting a postsecondary degree because it cost to much or it’s too much work while others get it and have a higher income. Earning a postsecondary degree will have a positive impact on someone’s life because there will be more job opportunities, earn a higher income, and a longer life expectancy.

The fact that the University of Michigan has one of the best, in general education programs in the country is enough to make most students want to attend its classrooms. Specifically for me that highly ranked program lies in the University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, where Biology department is held. But those facts only state that overall the college is the best, but doesn’t get to the underlying reason; The professors and faculty are some of the best in the country. My goal after college is to become a researcher in human genetics or join a firm that works in developing state of the art genetics based technology. To do this I firmly believe that I need one of the best educations, provided by the best professors, if I want to enter my future job with 100% certainty in my work. With low average class sizes and instruction from the nation's best professors, I know it’s possible to easily interact with the professors that will help me mold myself into knowledgeable student I want to be
When I was younger, I wanted to be a pediatrician because I liked helping children my age. I wanted to do something in the medical field because I admired my mother being a nurse anesthetist because she seemed to have so much passion for helping others. I wanted to be just like her, but I thought doctors made more money. Being an only child, I was very interested helping children in my age group because they were the only ones I interacted with at school.
I graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology. Throughout my two years there and other two years at Kishwaukee Community college, I’ve earned a place on the Dean’s List
Higher education is optional, but to enter a respectable career, one must continue their education in order to achieve his financial and/or personal goals. Teenagers who attend college use their extended schooling to further obtain knowledge. The primary objective of higher education is to enhance one’s abilities for his future. A student can learn from school in numerous ways, but liberal education is not a way to attract students into further and higher education. However, students can learn a lot more through experiences that have affected their personal lives. I agree with author Mike Rose’s theory that education needs are reached to obtain a higher academic level by teaching students information that can be related to their personal
“A college degree is not necessary to be successful.” This sentence is something my family lives by, neither of my parents graduated from college. Even though they did not graduate from college, they are still successful and provide me with whatever I want. My brother went to college and never ended up finishing getting his associates. The trend in my family is to not get a college degree but still end up successful. I am going to break that trend by getting a college degree and becoming more successful than them. They are right, you do not need a college degree to be successful, but getting one can aid you in your success. College degrees will put you in front of someone else that does not have one while trying to get a job. I am challenging their idea of college and am going to be more successful than them.
