The Changover: A Short Story Essay

I kept thinking about my first day of school and how Abby never quite talked to me. I wish I could go over to her house right now, but I didn't want to push her. Maybe she was trying to tell me that I was never really her friend. The window was cold against my forehead.

As I am walking down the hall to Ms.Johnson’s room, I see something different. There is a sub today. I just really hope she isn’t as mean as she looks. When I walk into the classroom I get my folder and go to my assigned seat to start my “do now”. When the teacher walks in she says,”Everyone sit down and don’t make a noise unless you want a step!”

“Chace held me just like he did at the creek party. Only this time he brushed his lips against my temple. I felt this fluttering in my stomach. After that, I wanted him to kiss me.”

“Yeah Vanessa, I thought we were too! Now it turns out that you’re just a backstabbing brat!” Harper yelled, harshly.

“That’s the puzzle. It makes no sense. But not all is lost. Katy is working on that angle right now.”

“Hey, you!” shouted a voice far down in the hallway. “So you’re the new girl, huh?”

"Like I said, mind your own damn business." Jaylee heard him mutter "bitch" under his breath, and she rolled her eyes again. Luke was moodier than a girl on her period, and that was saying a lot.

Right after she said that, she went silent. I wondered why she was not mentioning anything about her meeting with my teacher, Mr. Frick. I became very anxious, even though I could not recall a time when Mr. Frick had gotten

"Where are you going at this time of day?" she shouted. "Playing hooky, I suppose. I'll just call the principal and tell him!" She looked like the ugliest thing I had ever seen. Oh, did I ever hate her.

“Emily all you care about is showing me, Brad your boyfriend, to your friends. And you proved it tonight too. You were even planning how to walk in and how I should look at you.”

"Zac says we're friends with benefits, but I wonder if I'm just a substitute for his old flame."

“Well all of your friends are missing. All of them. Blaire, Jeremy, Chris, and Amanda. They’re all just gone and the only connection is you.”

“Because I like you. And I feel Tre will be happiest with you. Now, don’t this the wrong way, but I feel that Tia girl is the better fit for him, but something about you makes him gives off this happy vibe. Happiest can beat out the better fit if you know how to move the pieces the right way. Back to the lesson…”

“Oh, thank god. I thought you’d ask what to do to get Kurt to be a bondage boy and I’ve got nothing for that. Unless you do a musical. Kurt would make a badass villain. And what makes you think they haven’t been together two years?” Sebastian asks.

"Maybe, but I don't know. I was going to Lily's partner but, she has a partner."
