The door swung open at once. A tall, black-haired witch in emerald-green robes stood there. She had a very stern face and Harry's first thought was that this was not someone to cross. "The firs' years, Professor McGonagall," said Hagrid. "Thank you, Hagrid. I will take them from here." She pulled the door wide. The entrance hall was so big you could have fit the whole of the Dursleys' house in it. The stone walls were lit with flaming torches like the ones at Gringotts, the ceiling was too high to make out, and a magnificent marble staircase facing them led to the upper floors. They followed Professor McGonagall across the flagged stone floor. Harry could hear the drone of hundreds of voices from a doorway to the right -the rest of the …show more content…
Harry nervously tried to flatten his hair. "I shall return when we are ready for you," said Professor McGonagall. "Please wait quietly." She left the chamber. Harry swallowed. "How exactly do they sort us into houses?" he asked Ron. "Some sort of test, I think. Fred said it hurts a lot, but I think he was joking." Harry's heart gave a horrible jolt. A test? In front of the whole school? But he didn't know any magic yet -- what on earth would he have to do? He hadn't expected something like this the moment they arrived. He looked around anxiously and saw that everyone else looked terrified, too. No one was talking much except Hermione Granger, who was whispering very fast about all the spells she'd learned and wondering which one she'd need. Harry tried hard not to listen to her. He'd never been more nervous, never, not even when he'd had to take a school report home to the Dursleys saying that he'd somehow turned his teacher's wig blue. He kept his eyes fixed on the door. Any second now, Professor McGonagall would come back and lead him to his doom. Then something happened that made him jump about a foot in the air -- several people behind him screamed. "What the --?" He gasped. So did the people around him. About twenty ghosts had just streamed through the back wall. Pearly-white and slightly transparent, they glided across the room talking to one another and hardly glancing at the first years. They seemed

She walked down the darkened corridor, her heels clicking against the smooth marble. Shadows danced across the tall walls, the orange flames from the iron metal torches formed various shapes across
At the bottom of the stairs, she turned to the left and went nearly to the end of a long, stone hallway, small rooms dug into the walls. She walked into the living quarters of her family and smiled. They'd gotten one of the biggest rooms, since her father was helping on the company's project here in the Sahara.

Soon after entering Hogwarts, Harry must face a road of trials which will eventually lead him to achieve his unlikely treasure. While roaming the halls after curfew, Harry receives detention in the forbidden forest, and comes face to face with the Dark Lord. Other obstacles come to place when Harry travels down the trap door into the chambers; such as devil’s snare, a human wizard’s chess game, and the room of keys (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone). The series of tests make Harry’s mission difficult; however, the knowledge he gains from the unsuccessful trials bring him closer to his main goal. These minor bumps in Harry’s journey strengthen him emotionally and physically, readying him to defeat the traitor at the end of his succession of tests. Unexpectedly, the betrayal comes from the quivering Professor Quirrell who voluntarily gives up his body to the Dark Lord. Harry sees himself in the mirror and realizes he is magically in possession of the Sorcerer’s Stone. Shortly
Harry Potter and Articulus Flinch left the Dursleys' Gallery to go to London, where Harry was going to buy the equipment needed for his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
“Well, Voldemort’s going to try other ways of coming back, isn’t he? I mean, he hasn’t gone, has he?”
When the door opened, the unearthly stillness inside sprung to life. The flapping of wings and loud squawks of some type of bird greeted them. Both she and Thomas had to duck down as the bird flew past them and out the door.
You sweat and shake as you tremble to the three-legged stool. All the students stare at you, hoping for you to join their house, as Professor Mcgonagall places an old, tattered, hat upon your head. It opens it’s mouth and gets ready to scream the house you will belong in for seven years.
I was jolted awake by my sister's grimy finger shaking the living daylights out of me. "What do you want Sofia?" I groaned, still half asleep, my eyes temporarily blinded by the sudden exposure to bright light. "We're going to Diagon Alley, we're going to Diagon Alley." Julia chanted with a cheery smile on her face and skipping out of my room to go pester someone else. That's when my brain started to function again. My Hogwarts letter had just arrived yesterday and we would be visiting Diagon Alley to purchase our school supplies. I rubbed my eyes groggily and shifted my gaze over to my alarm clock, 9:35. Shoot! I need to get ready, and fast. I stare hopelessly at my wardrobe, quickly deciding on leggings, Uggs, and an oversized sweatshirt.I
“The other one. I forgot his name. He’s dying a lot sooner than this one.” He scowled at his test subject, “They said to test him anyway.”
