Imagine for just a minute living as a young, about five and a half year old, little girl. The average five year old would probably be doing things such as coloring, learning to read, being spoiled by their parents and napping. But in Roald Dahl's novel ,Matilda. Let's just say Matilda is Not your average five year old. Her hobbies include reading extensive novels, memorizing the twelve times tables and writing limerick poems. While living with a rather ignorant family, you know the kind that eats in front of the “telly” every night and doesn't believe in exercise or reading. Matilda has to overcome the challenges thrown at her by her Mother, Father, and of course the dreaded Mrs.Trunchbull, her horrendous school principal. Lucky for Matilda, she has Superlative smarts, outstanding wit, and a heroic personality.
Matilda the protagonist in Roald Dahl’s novel, is many things, In particular what stood out indubitably, was matilda's remarkable intelligence. One example of this may be found on page 53, “Matilda said quietly , ‘Dad, you made exactly four thousand three hundred and three pounds and fifty pence altogether. ‘The father glanced down at the paper in his hand. He seemed to stiffen.He became very quiet. There was silence.’” As clearly shown in the text stated Matilda undoubtedly proves she is far more intelligent than many, including her own father who not to mention is in his forties and Matilda of course, is only five. Matildas smarts are shown yet again on page 13,
