In todays society everyone uses cloud computing from big businesses for work to individuals for personal use. Cloud computing is rapidly changing and constantly offering new and better services for all users. On an individual level, instead of occupying all the available space given on a personal computer, a user can choose to use the cloud services to store any information. Many IT companies have been changing from using their own IT infrastructure to them using the computational services of the cloud. When using the cloud, a user may think they still have direct control, which is not true because there is a level of abstraction. The loss in detail is introduced between the owner of the information being stored and …show more content…
Most people think that backing up their devices once or twice a week is good for their device. The reason users back up there devices using cloud is because they want to have more storage on their devices and keep all their data at the same time and the cloud allows them to do so. This can be very helpful and useful until something goes wrong. Back in 2014 there was an incident of celebrities private and personal data being leaked. Everyone was so confused about how the attackers got access to the information and later found out that it was accessed through the cloud. Since cloud computing is growing rapidly to accommodate every users needs and wants this now made users of the cloud become skeptical. Every technology has its pros and cons but having others access your personal data without your consent is a huge con. Users of the cloud operate at a higher level of abstraction. This results in users spending a substantially less amount of time creating an IT infrastructure and teaching/hiring IT professionals to manage it. The resources offered for cloud computing now are valued higher and priced lower. Cloud computing can be defined as a collection of services, software, hardware storage and interfaces that 4 are provided to a client through the Internet. The Internet is very important in cloud computing in order for cloud services to be accessible to users whenever and wherever a user desires.
Some disadvantages of cloud data storage are Performance, Security, as well as Data orphans. Performance is seen as a disadvantage because it is connected over the internet and cannot challenge with the speed of possessing a local drive. Security has always been seen as a vast issue or concern with users. Matter of fact some users will never feel safe storing their data there. Lastly, there is the disadvantages of Data orphans, the main concern is that users may abandon their data in a cloud storage facility. Possibly leaving private, confidential or company data at risk of access.
While there is an extensive amount of files on the Internet, not all are valuable enough to be saved. Companies have to choose what’s most important in order to save space in the cloud system they have (one of the many ways businesses and/or users have kept their documents safe and backed up just in case they were to ever lose the original location in which files were saved). Employees use mobile gadgets not only to be accessible to many things at once but to stay connected in the system that the workplace may have set in place for fluency during work hours. People have items such as phones and tablets that are also subject to hacking. Although these gadgets are very efficient, they place a huge threat to companies at
Cloud computing has set a trend in the information technology arena that has sparked the interest of all who utilize the internet on purpose and unsuspectingly. Initially, the primary purpose of cloud computing was to provide a centralized data bank that organizations could use for quick data access. Its use has been quickly adapted, however, beyond business use to become the first option for personal use. The advantages and disadvantages of implementing such a shift from business to personal are varied, yet, statistically, according to the CISCO Global Cloud Index: Forecast and Methodology, 2014-2019 White Paper, its public use is on the rise. The report notes that “by 2019, 56 percent of the cloud workloads will be in public cloud data centers, up from 30 percent in 2014 and by 2019, 44 percent of the cloud workloads will be in private cloud data centers, down from 70 percent in 2014”. Though disadvantages with regard to data security is prominent, users have deemed that its implementation will still promote greater benefits than loss.
There are two different types of cloud storage. Public cloud is what can be accessed through the internet and companies loved this because they only paid for the amount of storage needed, they gained office apace since they did not have it installed in their own company, it can be used by multiple customers and did not have to be worried about maintenance responsibilities. The risk factor for public cloud storage was too high as all the company’s information was held at a third party location. Private cloud is similar to public storage except that it is hosted by a private service provider site, supports one customer and can be used to store highly classified material without risk of being stolen. Lastly, integrated backup systems were the best solution to backup information. Though the price was very high for all the equipment you needed to buy it came with a strong performance and quick recovery of compromised data.
Having a backup of data is important because if the data becomes corrupted or lost you will have it copied and stored so that you will still have it in future for if something goes wrong.
User can store their data on cloud and reveal from the local data storage and its maintenance. Cloud is in a distributive in nature includes shared pool of configuring resources both in hardware and software. As an increasing number of clients who store their
Use of several computers to make one system such as logging onto a database as well as other storage locations and emails has relation to cloud hosting. All these activities are carried out online and have protection and management with online services as provision.
Backing up refers to copying information to a secondary source in case of a failure or other kind of error. The process of having a backup system can be essential to a successful system. There can be countless reasons to back up your information such as theft, failure, or you need a document that was on an older device. You should always have a secure and up to date backup of your documents. Larger systems that businesses use back up their information frequently to prevent any loss. The process is administered by predefined backup policies that tell how frequent the data is backed up and how many copies are made of the data. You can have your data backed up locally or cloud based online.
Bowles goes further via looking at numerous cloud companies and declaring their importance in cloud computing. Bowles indicates that there 's a bright destiny in cloud computing inside the ending of the bankruptcy. He states: “an increasing number of, we will find that our information and packages aren 't residing on our personal computers however alternatively somewhere in our on-line world” (Chap. 9 summary).
Cloud technology links remote computers to a network of data servers that contain user data. It serves to increase efficiency in data access, increase user convenience and lower costs. It also has created efficiencies in terms of user hardware requirements necessary to access files and programs in multiple locations. A system designed in only 2006, it has already become a $68 billion global industry, with an anticipated $17 billion per annum growth rate. With such a growth rate, cloud technology is rapidly becoming an increasingly important aspect of individual and corporate data storage. While cloud technology provides an expansive range of possibilities of use for individuals and businesses alike, it has also posed challenges for its effective governance and privacy.
This help to users think that the data being access by one person in one
: Cloud computing is the well-known model used for storing huge amount of data over the internet and provides the convenient mechanisms to access the information. Since it is keeping up enormous measures of assets, its protection and security are the major issues. The cloud administration suppliers are not trusted and unethical, so information is to be secured. Still, some information might be accessible that the data proprietor does not wish for progress data to the cloud unless query confidentiality and data privacy are assured. On the other hand, protected query processing services have to grant efficient query processing and drastically reduce the internal workload to fully understand the benefits. “Random space perturbation (RASP) processing” method provides security and various query processing services to provide confidentiality in the cloud. The (K-Nearest Neighbour) KNN-R algorithm is used here to convert the range query to the KNN query. Users have been certified by using the randomly generated key value provided by the administrator subsequent to successful registration by the client thus maintaining privacy. Queries from users are retrieved within the least period of time i.e., less than a second. In future using RASP statistics and KNN queries to investigate supplementary applications of RASP perturbation for protected data concentrated computing in the cloud.
Cloud computing is a topic of which much is assumed. The average person recognizes the term “cloud computing” as having to do with their storage from their iPad or iPhone on the online storage area which syncs their Apple devices to their computer. This common cloud is called the iCloud. That is where common knowledge ends about this topic. However, upon further exploration, a deeper understanding is gained with greater explanation, and it is realized that cloud computing is something that is used all of the time on many levels of everyday technology. While the terminology remains cryptic to the mind of most people, the concepts behind the practical uses of cloud computing become quite clear. It is relatable and understandable. Upon this revelation, the iCloud is recognized as the tip of the preverbal iceberg when speaking about cloud computing. It is important to discuss and further understand the many types of cloud computing as well as the various applications to life through technology. This affects how information is stored online, computers are protected, information is secured, emails are processed, and many other factors that are taken for granted in the world of technology. Cloud computing is a general term used to describe how information is stored, utilized, and accessed over the internet. There is no cloud, but the word cloud gives the connotation of an abstract place which is known to exist but is too vast to touch or contain (Griffith,
Information can be in a physical or electronic form. When it is stored in computer it is called as Data. Collection of processed data then called as Information. Information Management is a methodical approach of managing information using technology to collect, process and concise information. These days we have lot of information available stored in different formats and places. The rise of social media, smartphones and tablets are creating urgent information management in the IT industry. Unfortunately, most organisations do not have good IT infrastructure to deal with large amount of data and as result IT professionals are under pressure to upgrade the infrastructure, processes and technology to meet the demand of the growing information with efficient management. For many organisations, the answer to the above challenges can be found in the Cloud.
Users do not need to take it with them but it will follow users everywhere. Also, the cloud is social, and allows users to communicate easily. Therefore, cloud software is very useful for today’s business requirements.
