Global warming is the continuous increase in temperature of the earth surface, land, water, and atmosphere that is a huge natural phenomenon that has a tremendous negative impact all over the world to animals, people, land, and earth because of human activity being a big factor such as the excessive burning of fossil fuels, nitrogen-based fertilizers, deforestation, and automobiles thus causing negative effects to earth such as the polar ice melting, the sea level rising, melting glaciers, agriculture.

It would be a rare week indeed without hearing about global warming on the television or radio, or reading about it in the newspaper or an online blog. There have been many opinions from an abundance of points of view on the subject. Scientists, politicians, and environmentalists have all weighed in on the debate, and each of them is passionate about their beliefs. Some issues brought about due to global warming are polar ice caps melting, glaciers receding more and more each year, and rising ocean levels. These problems can lead to dwindling food supplies, fewer drinking water sources, and coastal flooding, to name a few (Miller 58). Essentially, the primary issue with global warming is whether humans are causing the planet’s climate to warm to damaging levels. Contrary to what the mainstream and social media would lead people to believe, global warming is most likely a natural cycle that planet Earth witnesses.

We hear about it on the news, we read about it in our textbooks, and it’s happening now. This “it” is global warming that is slowly tearing our earth apart. Mankind itself has been causing the earth’s temperatures to rise approximately 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit since 1880 due to constant emission of carbon dioxide from carbon based fuels. This includes industrialization, deforestation, and pollution which has greatly increased atmospheric concentrations of water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide which result in trapping heat near Earth’s surface. Humas are putting themselves at risk as the world’s temperatures rise every year and is expected to raise 5 to 10 degrees higher by the end of the century, which is faster than it has ever been according to the National Resource Defense Council’s website. Global warming has been affecting the world at an alarming rate in various ways, one major impact is the melting of permafrost.

Twenty thousand years ago, during the height of the most recent glacial period, ice sheets stretched from New York state across the Great Lakes to Wisconsin northward through most of Canada (Schneider 39). Mile-high domes of ice tied up so much fresh water that the oceans were some 100 meters lower than today. Global warming, according to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, “refers to the recent and ongoing rise in global average temperature near Earth 's surface.” Effects of human influence on the environment has long been a cause of concern regarding the disturbance of the “natural order.” Although a cycle which results in the periodic increase and decrease of the average global temperature has long been known to exist, due to new data suggesting the substantial and relatively recent spike in global temperatures, the idea that humans have become major contributors to the increase of temperature is now widely accepted. Our inability to find a solution to the effects of climate change has resulted in the evident deterioration of our environment.

Lately, I’ve been really interesting in the global warming’s affects, because the city where I live back in China is suffering a really bad pollution, people call it as Toxic Haze, not only in my hometown, but all the China’s eastern coast were blanketed by this toxic haze, a famous geographer in China bring forward a perspective that this terrible pollution is related with the effect of the Global Warming. Thus, I think the Global Warming have already involved or threaten our living quality and health. Global Warming’s situation is getting worse and more serious.
