Global warming is one of the vigorously discussed topic on Earth today. According to a TechMedia Network, “Global warming is the term used to describe a gradual increase in the average temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere and its oceans, a change that is believed to be permanently changing the Earth’s climate.” (“Global Warming … Effects”). We have been witnessing the change in Earth’s climate since past few years, and we are well aware of the consequences of climate change as well. Global warming has managed to list itself as one of the biggest problem in the world, and according to the researchers and scientists, the ones promoting this problem are humans and their activities. Global warming is not listed as biggest problem of the world …show more content…
Those radiated light is supposed to leave the Earth, but instead they are absorbed by the greenhouse gases, and radiated back to the surface of the Earth. This continuous process of circulation of radiated heat within the Earth’s atmosphere causes the rise in the temperature of earth. ("Global Climate Change: Causes."). This process can be referred as greenhouse effect. The greenhouse gases that traps the radiated heat include water vapor, Carbon dioxide (CO2), Methane, Nitrous oxide, Chlorofluorocarbons (CFC’s), etc. The presence of all these gases in the atmosphere is the main reason of the greenhouse effect, and it is what that causes global warming. ("Global Climate Change: Causes.")
Researchers and scientists say that the greenhouse effect is the main cause of global warming. The greenhouse effect is a natural process which is necessary to support life on Earth. It becomes a problem when the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere increases. The greenhouse effect is caused by the uncontrolled emission of harmful gases in the atmosphere. The harmful gases are emitted on a daily basis while carrying out major human activities. Some of the sources of harmful gases include power plants, industries, vehicles, fossil fuels, etc. ("Global Climate Change: Causes.") We feel very proud of the advancement that we have gained in science and technology, and of all the wonderful inventions that helps the world daily. Although the
Global warming is caused by the greenhouse effect whereby solar radiation and sunlight are absorbed by carbon dioxide along with other air pollutants that have collected in the atmosphere.
Global Warming is caused by the Greenhouse Effect. The Greenhouse effect causes the sun’s rays to come in the earth’s atmosphere, and when it bounces back, more and more of the sun’s rays stay in the Earth, heating up the average global temperature. Greenhouse gasses cause the addition of the Greenhouse Effect. Greenhouse Gasses cause an increase in the Greenhouse Effect.
Global warming has become a world wide issue and an issue that is causing great controversy. It is an increase in the earth's atmospheric and oceanic temperatures widely predicted to occur due to an increase in the greenhouse effect resulting especially from pollution (Dictionary). Global warming is a natural process, but because of increase in certain activities this process is taking a faster and more dangerous route creating global problems. Global warming was first theorized in 1894 by Jean Baptiste Joseph Fourier a French mathematician, who noticed the earth was gradually increasing in temperature. He came to the conclusion that the earth’s atmosphere was trapping solar radiation caused by the sun and reflecting this radiation back to
Global warming was once speculative but, after much research, it has since been scientifically proven by a number of methods. One such method is that used by paleoclimatologist Lonnie Thomas who collects the cores from ice masses all around the globe for his analysis of stable isotopes found in oxygen as discussed on page 452 of the text. Essentially, Thompson and his team concluded from their findings that “…most ice cores indicate that the last 50 years were the warmest 50-year period in the last 2000 years and, in some places, for the entire Holocene! Our climate is clearly going to grow even warmer and less hospitable” (Larsen 452). What, exactly, is global warming? “The increase in the average temperature of the earth’s atmosphere
Global warming refers to a phenomenon occurring on Earth 's surface as a result of increasing global temperatures. Increased temperatures are as a result of the accumulation of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, water vapour, nitrous oxide and methane gas in the atmosphere. The greenhouse effect is a natural system that regulates the temperatures on Earth by trapping the sun 's heat to keep the temperature on the surface warm enough to support life. However, increasing levels of the greenhouse gases as a result of industrialization and rising population continue to increase the temperatures on the Earth 's surface causing various physical, environmental, climatic and ecological changes on
Global warming is phenomena linked to temperature rising because of emissions of carbon dioxide and other gases. It is one of the most important debates of today because of the seriousness of its impact on life on earth. The issue though is debated for its being just a reality or as a theory. Scientists are of the view and they provide evidence as well to support their argument that industrialization and energy utilization has the caused emissions of certain gases in our atmosphere. Those emissions are causing the temperature rise globally. So, in one way or the other, humans are cause of this trouble to the planet earth. They say that the rising temperature is melting glaciers and rising water level which would cause floods. On the other
Global warming is an increase in the Earth’s average surface temperature due to greenhouse gases that collect in the atmosphere like a thickening blanket, trapping the sun’s heat and causing the planet to warm up. (“11 Facts About Global Warming”) Gases such as natural and manmade are trapped in the atmosphere causes the Earth’s surface become warmer. The world is affected by the dangers of global warming, and the major contributor to global warming among the greenhouse gases is CO2 emission. (Chiroma) (CO2 Concentration (ppm)) Most previous studies defined global warming hiatus by making a comparison of the surface temperature change rates between recent decades and the last quarter of the twentieth century, just as they defined the accelerated warming by comparing the growth during the mid-1970s and the late 1990s with the rate of several decades before that. (Wei) Bubbles of air in glacial ice trap tiny samples of Earth’s atmosphere, giving scientists a history of greenhouse gases that stretches back more than 800,000 years. The chemical makeup of the ice provides clues to the average global temperature. (Riebeek) Over many years, the earth’s temperatures have increased and will continue keep increasing. Global warming may be caused by man or by nature, but with a great deal of research, an opinion will be formed.
There are many different causes of Global warming, and most of them are human induced, meaning that humans cause the problem or make a problem that was already there worse. The main cause of climate change is the emission of carbon dioxide in the earth’s atmosphere; this has unfortunately pushed into the
As technology continues to advance, and as the population continues to grow and the individual life expectancy becomes longer, the global environment is being negatively impacted by various human and natural activities that are detrimental to the environment. Unfortunately there are many global environmental issues that need the attention of world leaders today, and have become undisputed environmental issues in today’s society. However, the most important public health, environmental issue I would like to address in my discussion is global warming. Furthermore, global warming influences a great amount of climate changes in the global arena. Hence, its befitting to say that, most issues associated with climate changes around the world and global warming or increased atmospheric temperature are intertwined.
Global warming is the observed increase in the average temperature of the Earth's atmosphere and oceans. Higher temperatures threaten dangerous consequences: drought, disease, floods, and lost ecosystems. From sweltering heat to rising seas, global warming's effects have already begun. Many people still believe that since the earth is so big, human beings cannot possibly have any major impact on the way the planet operates. The truth is we have grown so numerous and our technologies have become so powerful that we are now capable of having a significant influence on many parts of the earth's environment (Gore 22). Without the help of the human race, and the listening ears of our politicians, we are going to leave this extreme crisis to the next generation.
As global warming, we understand that is the rise in the average temperature of Earth’s atmosphere and oceans. It has been an immense concerning all over the world for the past decades since the current cycle of global warming is changing the rhythms of climate that humans, animals and plants rely on. Scientists have studied the natural cycles and events that are known to influence the change in climate to discover what is originating the current global warming. However, the amount and pattern of warming that has been measured on the planet cannot be explained just by natural factors. Therefore, it is impossible to neglect the influence of greenhouse effect, brought about the increased levels of greenhouse gases, due to the effects of different aspects as the burning of fossil fuels, agriculture activities, deforestation and the growth of population (2007). These greenhouse gasses are endangering important and necessary aspects of life and its consequences will affect each one of us.
In these days Global warming is one of the major problems of 21st century in front of the world. The major cause them is carbon emission. Every time fossil fuels such as gas, coal or oil burn, it releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. The effect of all this extra carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is that the overall temperature of the planet is increasing. Whilst the average global temperature is increasing, on a day-to-day level the climate is changing in unpredictable ways. So it is necessary to control the emission of atmospheric carbon and for that people have suggested different kinds of ideas. Carbon tax is considered as one of the effective ways. Carbon price is the tax on the emission of carbon into the atmosphere than the decided level as well as it is a tax on energy sources which emit carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. It is effectively a tax on pollution (Wright, 2011). However, some people argue that there could be some ways to change the climate like energy conversation and planting trees, these ways could be good but a carbon tax’s environment effects such as reducing the amount of carbon in the atmosphere and decrease the temperature, increases in consumer product prices and inflation as well as an effect on the employment rate, putting a price on carbon is the best solution for climate change because it is the most effective way for climate change.
Global warming, the growth in world population and the continual increase in quantity of waste globally are serious environment issues and as a result, the public perception towards waste and waste to energy generation cannot be over emphasised. Improving public participation will go a long way to reducing the effects of waste combustion on the environment.
Greenhouse gases are compounds in the atmosphere that can trap and hold extra heat, which increases the temperature in the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases is the cause of the greenhouse effect that leads up to global warming. The greenhouse effect is the trapping of the sun’s warmth in the lower atmosphere that is due to the visible radiation from the sun. The solar radiation reaches the Earth’s atmosphere, then the rest of the sun's energy is absorbed by the oceans and lands which result in the heating of the Earth. After that the heat from the Earth goes towards space, some of the heat is trapped in the atmosphere by greenhouses gases which make the Earth warm enough to tolerate living life. The burning of fossil fuels and land clearing start to increase the number of greenhouse gases which travels into the atmosphere. The result of trapping extra heat cause the Earth’s temperature to rise. Scientist's has proven that the constant increase of heat in the atmosphere is caused by humans. The reason humans are proven guilty for the increase of global warming is because of the amount of carbon that is put into the atmosphere. Carbon is released from burning coal, oil, and gas or cutting down and burning forests. Carbon (CO2) is known as the main source of heat-trapping gas which is mainly responsible for the increase of warming over the years. The removal of trees is another cause of global
The greenhouse effect is when the temperature rises because the sun’s heat and light is trapped in the earth’s atmosphere. This is like when heat
