Zeus, he was the king of the gods and the supreme ruler of people. He originally was a god of the sky. In time, the Greeks regarded him as the only god who concerned him-self with the whole universe. They also associated Zeus with justice and believed that he punished the wicked and rewarded the good. He belonged to the race of Titans, and was the son of Cronus and Rhea. After overthrowing Cronus, Zeus took his father's place and ruled from Mount Olympus. He headed a family of twelve major gods, called the Olympians.

Zeus was considered to be the leader of the Olympian gods of Mount Olympus. He was the god of the sky and thunder. He had many powers but the most significant was the power to wield lightning bolts. He could hurl lightning bolts at people who defied him or other gods who he was displeased with. He was the youngest child of Cronus and Rhea and was planned to get eaten by Cronus like all of his brothers and sisters before him, but he was hidden from Cronus at Mount Dicte. He then went on to overthrow Cronus and control the gods. He had twenty-four children and some of them were powerful gods. He also had some half god children like Hercules. He lives on the top of Mount Olympus with Hera, his wife.

In ancient Greek times, Perseus was considered a great hero because he exemplified great empathy and great determination. Empathy was one of Perseus’ most prominent traits. He exemplified this on multiple occasions, one of which being when he felt bad for the titan Atlas. The Titan was punished with having to hold up the heavens for all eternity by the gods for being the leader of the Titans in the war against Zeus. Perseus felt empathy for him and turned him to stone because earlier in the myth, Atlas begged to be turned to stone so that he could rest from the great burden. This shows empathy because of Perseus. While he did worship the Greek gods, he still felt that the punishment that was bestowed upon

Zeus was the son of Cronus and Rhea. When Cronus heard someone say that one of his sons would overthrow him just like he did to his father he got very angry and scared. This led to Cronus swallowing each of his children to make sure he stayed in power. Only one of the children got out by having Rhea feed Cronus a stone wrapped in cloth instead of Zeus. After Rhea saved Zeus he left and trained because he would one day come back and overthrow his father and force his to give back his siblings.

Zeus, his name is synonymous with Greek mythology and religion. God of the weather and sky he used his powers of wind, lightning, and thunder to uphold the law and keep order. He ruled Mount Olympus as well as the pantheon of gods who lived there. Watching over mankind he would punish those who defied him and help those who were wronged. However, Zeus did have his flaws. His quick tempered nature combined with his lust for women made him relatable to the common man. From his coming to power until the beginning of Christianity, this complex god would have no equal.

Uranus- He is a early Immortal who was the sky and heavens and mostly considered the ruler of the universe. He had mated with Gaia to spawn the titans. Later when his son Chronos other throws him and cuts him, his blood foams in the water and birthed Aphrodite. He is accredited for the beginning of the Universe.

Atlas was one of the strongest, and most respected titan of them all. Close friend and a follower of Cronus. He would partake in the danger provoked by Cronus’s son Zeus. Atlas is the son of Iapetus. A brother to Prometheus, and Epimetheus. Atlas leading a battle against Zeus. Unfortunately even though Atlas was one of the strongest Titan, he had a punishment that no individual could bear. Zeus was the supreme god and ruler of Olympus. He was known by many names: Lord of the Sky, the Rain-god, the Cloud-gatherer, and Zeus the Thunderer. Zeus was the sixth child born to Cronus and Rhea behind Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Dementer, and Hera. The high soaring eagle was sacred to him, and to the Romans he was known as Jupiter. Zeus was a strong, mighty, awesome, glorious, and wise god. Although, he was very foolish and naïve with hiding his love affairs from Hera.

Zeus’ affinity for being the main character of a myth is no different in the epic myth about his fight against Cronus and the Titans or the “Titanomachy.” In this larger-than-life battle Zeus has to overthrow his father Cronus and take his predestined place as king of the gods. In this myth however, Zeus has to grow and overcome many challenges that stand in his way to greatness. Zeus has to ask for help from his mother in order to be able to free his sibling from his father Cronus who had swallowed them whole. After Zeus frees his siblings he has to face the mighty Titans, so he asks the Cyclops and the Hecatonchires to aid him in this battle that lasts

Zeus was the winner of the draw and became the almighty ruler of the gods, as well became the lord of the sky and rain. Zeus was one who was easily angered which was not a good thing sometimes.. He also easily fell in love and had affairs with various women. Some of the abilities he possessed was the ability to throw lightning bolts. He had a winged horse called a Pegasus which carried his lightning bolts and he had trained an eagle to retrieve his lightning bolts.

Zeus was god of the sky ruler of the Olympian Gods. Zeus overthrows his father, Cronus and then drew lots with his brothers Poseidon and Hades, in order to decide who would succeed their father on the throne. Zeus succeeded in the winning of the draw and became the superior ruler of the gods, as well as lord of the sky and rain. He is a powerful God and his symbols reinforced this sense of power. His symbols were the Thunderbolt, Eagle, Bull, and the Oak Tree. His weapon was a thunderbolt which he launched at those who made him angered or disobeyed him, especially liars and oathbreakers. He was married to Hera but was infamous for his many affairs.

Zeus is the God of the sky and thunder. He plays important role in the Iliad as he is the God that many mortals pray to and rely on for help. Even other Gods look up to him and ask him for favors. In the Iliad Zeus along with other Gods are overlooking the Trojan war and using his God like powers to sway the results. Though others look up to him he feels an obligation to please others which causes him to influence the Trojan war on both sides. I chose this character because of how he appeases to mortals and Gods, though he makes promises to help the other side he stays loyal to the Trojans, and mortals and Gods pray to and look up to him.

He was the father of all the rivers and lakes of the world. But then the Olympians rebelled against the Titans, Zeus drove Cronus into the western ocean. When Zeus had taken his place as head of the gods, not even the oceans tides could defy him.
