Romanticism is not about romance, despite what the word may imply. It is actually a development that created a push for all forms of art, one of the main ones being literature. The era had one of the greatest impacts in literature, seeing as it unlocked a unique side of writing by using nature as a main theme. The evolution of the genre was heavily influenced by art as well as history of Great Britain as well as France, Italy, and America. A powerful push of feminism was created through this side of writing and as a result, many doors opened to women apart of movements to occur in the following years. The emergence of British Romanticism conveyed influences of history, unique characteristics, and as well as impacts future literary movements. The Romanticist era in literature occurred between 1800 and 1850. Leading up to this era, there were many wars and there was a lot going on that affected different parts of the world. Even though the main focus is British Romanticism, it is important to acknowledge some of the events that contributed to this movement in other countries. There was the American Revolution in the late 1770s and the 1780s, the French Revolution from 1789 to 1799, and the Reign of Terror that took place in the 1790s as well. Even though these events are not specifically directed towards Britain, they still had a heavy influence on the country.
