Imagine yourself ready to leave the house to go to school, filled with workbooks and paper. You have seized your purse and start heading out the door, excited and set for a day of classes on campus. Unexpectedly, your mobile phone is buzzing. The child care provider is notifying you that your child has indications of conjunctivitis. You must transport them to a physician at once. For a student also playing the role of a mother, it made sense that I would throw aside school bags, run to the car and pick up an ill child, but I marvel how I did it all: dropping the children off at day care or school, taking on tons of academic classes, employed to make a living and arriving back home to six children needing fed, bathed, and played with and before …show more content…
I have found this is the prime method to conquer them and allude catastrophic errors. I drop the word try. Instead, I undertake. The decision seemed arduous at times; sacrificing my time and energy towards the pursuit of a different and better future. I decided that pursuing a nursing degree is worth it. There is a myth surrounding an animal known as a Phoenix. It devours itself in flames. It’s restored immaculate coming out of the fire. The legend almost certainly recounts the change that one must undertake trying to reinvent oneself. The symbol of the phoenix evokes the power of deep transformation and rebirth. The phoenix is the sign of transformation of one’s awareness that each one must experience in one level or another to produce the results one wants. This is the tale of my existence, mainly the piece about searing wildly in the fire. It was exciting to have my children grow up watching their mother continue her education, and for them to be able to watch me graduate with my nursing degree. Now my children are grown and my sanity has returned. I look out with fresh eyes. The fog has lifted. The dark clouds have moved on. People said I would value the season. At times all I could manage was to groan. When I was in the midst of it, it appeared to have no end. Now I can understand what I have
Greek Mythology refers to a phoenix as a long-lived bird that is regularly regenerated or reborn. In “This is what is means to say Phoenix Arizona”, Victor, the main characters’ father dies. Victor is faced with conflict; Victor recently lost his job and has no money to get to Phoenix to pick up his father’s remains and memorabilia. Victor runs into an estranged childhood friend, Thomas- Builds- the-Fire. Thomas offers to pay Victors way to Phoenix under the condition Thomas can accompany Victor to Phoenix. The main character Victor can be symbolically compared to a Phoenix; A transformation of character. The character’s identity and development engage the story. Throughout the story, Sherman Alexie uses flash backs to enlighten the past of Victor and Thomas-Builds-the Fire. In the short story, “This is what it means to Say Phoenix Arizona, the author, Sherman Alexie uses character and the occurrence of flash backs to develop the story.
The phoenix helped illustrate themes by symbolizing Montag’s spiritual rebirth, the cyclical nature of life, and the rebirth of society. The phoenix
I didn't visit the farm that year. Still, the fire never faded from my mind. I stared at the dancing flames, which now were not only blazes, but also unforgettable moments I had at my foster homes. I felt the cozy heat, yielded not by burning wood but by warm hugs. And I became truly fascinated by the blazing unpredictability - not the sudden sparks that lighted the night , but the uncertainties that made me grow
Cost-benefit analysis is used to help decide whether or not to continue with a project, essentially weighing the pros and cons related to benefits versus the cost of achieving the desired result. Cost-benefit analysis (CBA) is a technique used to compare the total costs of a program/project with its benefits (Oxford, n.d.).
Cost benefiting is a positive financial investment overall. Economically there will be less time and more productive work with less errors and stress put on clinical staff resulting in time off and time lost. Clinical documentation systems save in staffing costs bring down overall overhead costs. There seems to be a huge cost associated with medication expenditures and without missed documentation or wasted, missing, over medicating or duplication the electronic system would generate huge cost saving in this area. Another area of cost cutting would be decreased billing
In terms of policy design, the ACA does benefit the American population, expanding coverage and giving Americans better access to care. Moreover the ACA focuses on preventative health measures which is better for the population health in general. This falls in-line with our National Agenda on health as my health policy framework outlines. As mentioned before, the debate of health care reform has been going on for almost a century and it is agreed upon that something must be done to address the issues in the health care system, both in terms of healthcare delivery and health insurance.
Everywhere around the nation redundant federal programs are leading to billions of dollars in waste, and the government somehow, is slow to adopt reforms to fix the situation. The White House needs to recognize and be aware of the problem to propose an elimination of redundant programs in the Federal, State, and local Government.
As a warden, in order to lower medical costs at my facility, one recommendation that I would make is to add more physical activity that is geared towards mental and physical health. I would implement an activity such as making all physically capable inmates walk at least 30 minutes every day. According to the Mayo Clinic, walking daily helps to “maintain a healthy weight, prevent or manage various conditions, including heart disease, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes, strengthen your bones and muscles, improve your mood, and improve your balance and coordination” (Mayo Clinic, n.d.). All of the benefits that come from just walking would ultimately reduce medical costs since hypertension and arthritis are the most reported medical problems
It was another beautiful Sunday, dry, this young man just got out of church, and he got a page that there has been a fire. Leaving immediately he would never have prepared himself for the long night ahead of him. Arrived at the station and opened the doors this young man texted his mother telling her he was headed to a fire, things were going by so quickly. As the time progressed, all he could do is make sure the flames didn’t continue to spread, with nothing but boots, and a backpack sprayer full of water to put out the flames that were stretching for as far as the eye could see, not but knee high yet the effect it had mentally was petrifying. Through the trees and debris he could see flames as high as the trees, except there were no trees, what once was close to two hundred acres of trees has now been turned to ash by an extremely dangerous force. After all the men had left at about four in the morning, trying to sleep was impossible, he was worn, tired, couldn’t breathe because of smoke inhalation, and the images of the destruction caused by a single flame were haunting him. Silently he realized the true dangers of flames. He

An acute red eye is one of the most common reasons why children present to the pediatrician or adults present to their primary care physician. Although most cases of acute red eye are caused by self-limiting and benign conjunctivitis, it is important to distinguish when a more serious pathology is present that may require a non-urgent or urgent ophthalmologic referral. A thorough history of the illness is one of the most important tools that pediatricians have to determine whether the patient can be treated by the pediatrician or whether an ophthalmologic referral is indicated.
Explain the principles behind cost benefit analysis. Is the use of cost benefit analysis essential in the appraisal of public spending? Discuss this in the light of a transport capital expenditure project with which you are familiar.
To be rational is to understand and calculate the costs and benefits for each of our options and make the decision that maximizes the value and utility of of self interest. However, humans often behave irrationally due to our emotions, morality and desire for immediate pleasure. Given the above depiction, Dan Ariely argues that we will be acting irrational if we don’t commit acts of thievery since the expected benefits of committing the act obviously outweighs the cost given that “nobody would find out”. His definition of rationality is more or less similar to what most economists believe in, which is making decisions strictly based on the highest grossing financial benefits. Therefore, under his definition of rationality and irrationality, we would be acting “irrational” by succumbing to our morality and conscience, and not commit the act that would bring us the most economic benefits. Under his assumption, there is no cost or risk of committing acts of thievery, then to be “rational” under his definition would be to steal whatever there is out there as it’s practically the same thing as drinking water from a public water fountain.
Cost function refers to the mathematical relationship between cost of production and the various determinants of costs.
Today was hot. The sun’s rays wanted to cook me alive. I just knew it. Muscle and blood felt like the ingredients in a hot stew called my body. Sweat rolled down my arm and joined the other beads of the salty liquid. Why was the sun blazing? What did I ever do to you sun? Is it because I haven’t been out in so long to see you? I closed my eyes for a moment, hoping the sun would relent its harsh heat after seeing me leaning against the steps in misery. As if feeling sorry for me, a heavenly wind came across me. Even the clouds pitied me as they moved in front of the sun. I savored it. That brief relief of heat wasn’t enough. I needed more. I needed much more.
