The creation of Theogony of Creation of man on Greek Mythology.com shows how Greek Gods created man.
Chaos was the first God. The Erebus came and him and Night gave birth to the heavenly light, Day, the earthly light. Night alone created Doom, Fate, Death, Sleep, Dreams, Nemesis, and all things that dwell to darkness. Gaea married her son and they gave made the three Cyclopes, the three Hecatoncheires, and the twelve Titans.
Uranus was a cruel father and husband. He hated the Hecatoncheires and imprisoned them. Gaea got mad and turned against Uranus. Her youngest son, Cronus was not afraid.
Cronus cut his father and threw him into the ocean. Out of Uranus's body came Aphrodite. After killing Uranus, Cronus became the next leader.
Cronus
So Cronus told everybody he killed Uranus. Cronus was told one day that one of his children would be stronger than him and kill him. Chronus met Rhea and Married her.
There is a common theme in Greek Mythology of children fighting with, overthrowing, and often killing their parents. Zeus kills his father Cronus to rise to power as the king of the Olympian gods. Prior to this, Cronus had killed his own father, Uranus, which lead to the rise of the Titans.
and moreover a human's life. One famous mythology in Greek is a creation mythology. Greek creation mythology is concerned with the birth of gods belonging to the ancient Greeks. I chose this mythology because of its importance in the idea of how us humans are believed to gain consequences from a happy life. Also it displays ideas and beliefs of considering where people will go after death, and furthermore the value of forming connections with our ancestors through historical events. This mythology has been passed down from generation to generation. I'm going to analyze about the revenge of Cronus because I believe it has many humanistic traits. Also it influenced a modern society. The revenge of Cronus is a story where Cronus avenged his mother, as Gaia was unsatisfied with Uranus's affection towards the children. Gaia was known as a mother goddess who gave birth from Chaos. Uranus was one of the children of Gaia. Originally mother and child, they later became a couple. Gaia and Uranus had a total of six children. But Uranus didn't love his children. In addition, he confined his children to a hole. Gaia was uncomfortable with his behavior, so she asked her children to avenge her. No child responded to her, as a result of being afraid of their
Zeus was the child of the Titans, Cronus and Rhea, and was the youngest of all his siblings. Cronus , Zeus’ father, had been warned that one of his children would overthrow him. Cronus knew the consequences, for he had overthrown his father, Uranus. To prevent this from
Cronus was a titan and controlled the world along with the other titans when Zeus was born. Cronus usually swallowed his children after they were born, but Rhea took Zeus to Mount Dicte where he was hidden from Cronus. He then came back to Cronus when he was older and made Cronus regurgitate his brothers and sisters. His brothers were Hades and Poseidon and his sisters were Hestia, Demeter, and Hera. He ended up marrying Hera and had eight children with her. He was infamous for his affairs with other women while married to Hera. He had many children and some of importance were Ares, Apollo, Artemis, Athena, Aphrodite, Hermes and Dionysus Hercules, Perseus the Muses, the Graces, and Helen of Troy were only a few of his children. He had many children that were gods and he had a few that were heros as
However, Uranus was afraid that Cronus might overpower him and one day obtain all his power. Knowing this Uranus purposely tried to kill Cronus in multiply occasions, but Gaea would always protect him. One day Gaea and Cronus made a plan to have Cronus challenge Uranus and take over his power. So it happened, Cronnus challenged his father and was victorious during their battle and Uranus was left to rot (Bernard 1) "Now Cronus had become king of gods by killing his father Uranus” (Bernard 3). In both Greek and Roman Mythology, the relationship between parents and children are distorted, strained, and bizarrely transformed, because of their greediness for power and obsessiveness to be better than the other.
Zeus was the son of Cronus and Rhea. When Cronus heard someone say that one of his sons would overthrow him just like he did to his father he got very angry and scared. This led to Cronus swallowing each of his children to make sure he stayed in power. Only one of the children got out by having Rhea feed Cronus a stone wrapped in cloth instead of Zeus. After Rhea saved Zeus he left and trained because he would one day come back and overthrow his father and force his to give back his siblings.
Uranus- He is a early Immortal who was the sky and heavens and mostly considered the ruler of the universe. He had mated with Gaia to spawn the titans. Later when his son Chronos other throws him and cuts him, his blood foams in the water and birthed Aphrodite. He is accredited for the beginning of the Universe.
Cronus smirks and then says,” Go ahead and try “. They then both summoned their armies and went to fight a war. Orpheus went to fight Cronus solo and their armies fought. Though at their peak Cronus’s army was unstoppable they grew weak and frail waiting for him to come back and were easily overpowered. The only fight that was close was Cronus and Orpheus this fight took many years. The world was still engulfed in darkness when they fought and all the humans on earth started dying off slowly. None interfered with Cronus and Orpheus because they were too powerful to stop.
Uranus states he fears them and so he locks them up in the earth. This is where everything goes wrong and the war starts. Gaia gets upset because they are her kids that she locked away and she demands the Titans to free them. With this being said, Cronus was the leader of the Titans and felt responsible. He gained all of his power from his father Uranus. Cronus begins to fight Uranus near the ocean and Cronus makes Uranus bleed. The blood from Uranus then goes into the ocean where the ocean then gives birth to the God Aphrodite. Aphrodite is the God of love and beauty. Now that Cronus is the leader, he goes on to marrying his sister Rhea. Rhea gives birth to Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, Poseidon, and the greatest of all
Cronus is the primordial (which means first) god of time and the king of titans. He became the king of titans after his mother gaia convinced him to over through his father uranus.
Uranus tried to block any successors from taking over his supreme position by forcing back into Gaea the children she bore. But the youngest child, Cronus, thwarted his father, cutting off his genitals and tossing them into the sea. From the bloody foam in the sea Aphrodite, goddess of sexual love, was born. After wounding his father and taking away his power, Cronus became ruler of the universe. But Cronus, in turn, feared that his own son would supplant him. When his sister and wife Rhea gave birth to offspring—Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon—Cronus swallowed them. Only the youngest, Zeus, escaped this fate, because Rhea tricked Cronus. She gave him a stone wrapped in swaddling clothes to swallow in place of the baby.
Cronus was now lord of the universe. Every time his wife Rhea had a child, he would swallow it, for fear of one of them becoming more powerful than him. Rhea gave birth to her sixth child, Zeus, and hid him in a cave. She gave Cronus a rock wrapped in a blanket and acted like it was Zeus to fool him.
The Norse creation myth, also known as cosmogony, is considered one of the best accounts of such literature in the world. Initially, there was only a cavernous gorge which was known as Ginnungagap with no soil, sky, nor vegetation. Two homelands existed which were Muspelheim and Niflheim. Niflheim was full of elemental ice while the other was the exact opposite having the elemental fire. Fire flames from Muspelheim blew towards Ginnungagap where it met ice from Niflheim causing it to melt. The drops formed a giant god named Ymir, one of many to come. Ymir could reproduce since it was a hermaphrodite and could asexually reproduce, creating more giants (McCoy, Daniel). Through this process, the first woman and man were created named Embla and Ask who were formed from tree trunks. The two created a fence name Midgard to keep them away from the other giants who could harm them (McCoy, Daniel). Consequently, cycle of the cosmos originated. Norse creation mythology is full of dark chaos, murder, and transition.
He was the father of all the rivers and lakes of the world. But then the Olympians rebelled against the Titans, Zeus drove Cronus into the western ocean. When Zeus had taken his place as head of the gods, not even the oceans tides could defy him.
