In this scene the point about civilization Huxley is trying to make is the newer and cleaner the more civilized. An example is "they've been doing this for the last five or six thousand years. So i suppose they must be used to it by now" pg. 105 he's showing that the uncivilized group of people are still stuck in the old times and haven't adapted any new ideas therefore they are uncivilized. Two other quotes that caught my attention are "cleanliness is next to fordliness" pg. 105 and "civilization is sterilization" pg. 105 and these two quotes show what they're idea of civilization
In act 3 brought into the court Proctor brings Mary Warren to testify against Abigail about her villainous plan that got Elizabeth proctor arrested.Confessing about the doll being in the presence of Elizabeth. Mary tells the court how Abigail pretends with the help of the other girls. On act 3 still Mary states “ It were pretense, sir.” Giving Abigail up about her plan to get at Elizabeth. “ I cannot lie no more. I am with God, I am with God.”Abigail states”.”I have naught to change, sir. She lies”.”: I—I cannot tell how, but I did. I—I heard the other girls screaming, and you, Your Honor, you seemed to believe them, and I—It were only sport in the beginning, sir, but then the whole world cried spirits, spirits, and I—I promise you, Mr. Danforth,
At the end of Act II of The Crucible, Proctor’s wife, Elizabeth got taken on suspicion of being a witch. The poppit that their helper, Mary Warren gave her had a needle stuck in it in the same place that Abigail Williams had a needle stuck in her. Hale assumed that abigail stuck the needle in but still accused Elizabeth. Proctor wanted Mary Warren to explain to the court what happened and to explain the poppet. Mary Warren seems like she wanted to defend Elizabeth and explain the poppet, but she doesn’t want Abigail to accuse Proctor of the adultery he performed. In the heat of the moment, Proctor didn’t care about the potential accusation that could occur, he just wanted his wife to be proven innocent. When his wife was being taken away, Proctor said his well known words, starting with “Now Hell and Heaven grapple on our backs…” This quote sums up what has
he mood and situtation that he was in. At the end (Act ]I[) John Proctor was
I gaze up at the golden moon. It is rare to see a night like this. Perhaps I should continue moving. It would be foolish for me to stop here.
In Act I Abigail says to Betty, "I talked to your papa and I told him everything." This line like the many others spoken by Abigail is a lie and is spoken with the intent of manipulating another character into doing something that will somehow benefit her. In his play, "The Crucible," Arthur Miller uses the character of Abigail Williams to exemplify the theme of deceit. This play is set in Salem, Massachusetts, in a time period when villagers were prone to accusing each other of witchcraft in order to save themselves from being hanged. Hence, a major theme in this play is deceit.
The Crucible by Arthur Miller is a play written in response to the “communist scares” in America in the 1950’s. Miller chose “The Crucible” as the title because the definitions of the words match the play perfectly. A crucible is a container that can withstand high temperatures, often used to melt, and change the shape of metals. The town of Salem can be compared to the container that melts metals. The witchcraft trials can be compared to the severe tests or trials. Also, the severe tests or trials can be compared to how people are fighting themselves, and making moral decisions. (Dictionary).
To start off I felt this was a good movie overall. One scene I felt that had stood out was when the black man was showed the pattern on the cloth showing that there was a house he can escape to with his daughter. This scene kind of gave us a hint that many people probably knew about the house but was too scared to escape in fear of being caught. I felt that the black man was very determined to get his daughter away safely no matter what so much that he went in to unknown water just to hide from the slave masters. I was a little confused at the begging because I thought slave work consisted of picking cotton or some other hardship. There was a scene that stood out to me on a personal note. The scene were the black man was hanged and his daughter was watching as this occurred.
Steinbeck wrote about many different characters who are full of dreams which sadly none of their dreams came true. Everyone has a big dream that would like to accomplish one day but sometimes , when we get lonely our dreams don’t come true. Through these characters John Steinbeck shows the effects about true loneliness.
It was a bright cold day in Salem, where the sun seeped through overcast skies above and the mist danced around in the street. The wind hissed and howled, and swept through the narrow streets. In the centre of the town, stood the proud house of Reverend Parris. But that day, Reverend Parris was not a proud man as the accusations of witchcraft drifted through the town, overwhelming him completely.
The sins of deceit and lust have plagued the human race since the dawn of time. These feelings and wishes can make people do some of the worst things known man. In Arthur Miller's play The Crucible, these two sins are applied to many characters one of which is Abigail Williams. The play revolves around the Abigail and her friends attempting to cover up their past transgressions against the Salem community while Abigail attempts to get together with John Proctor. Abigail suffers from the sins of lust and deceit most chronically which she uses to fulfill her agenda throughout the play. Due to Abigail's lust for John and her constant utility of untruths lead the people to fear for their lives leading them to hurt innocent people making Abigail the main transgressor of the Salem condition.

Ad Hominem: Latin for “against the man,” and refers to the logical fallacy (error) of arguing that someone is incorrect because they are unattractive, immoral, weird, or any other bad thing you could say about them as a person. (https://literaryterms.net/ad-hominem/)
In The Crucible, there were many important quotes that were said. Author Miller had a lot of highlighted scenes that made the play interesting. The play, in my eyes, is based on three important quotes.
9. What happened between Abigail and John Proctor prior to the opening of the play?
He had big wing and he was reddish blackish with three green glowing eyes. He began to fly towards me, then stopped and ask”You know who i am do you?” I answered saying” Your Orix the King The leader of darkness and you will stop at nothing till your son's murder was revenged.”
