The Drop Box. Dir. Brian Ivie. Focus on the Family, 2015. DVD. The film itself is a documentary, meaning every moment has historically happened. The film is full of facts and elements that touches the heart. A reliable christian company has produced the movie, and has won many awards making it trustworthy. Though there are some facts there are also drama and opinions. Glady the movie uses facts to prove their opinions. The design of the movie feels very organized and formal. The film is a reliable source for the movie itself is just a visual record of historical events.

"A Korean Pastor Inspires Us to Love Without Limits - Crisis Magazine." Crisis Magazine. Sophia Institute Press, 12 Mar. 2015. Web. 27 Oct. 2015. Due to the release of the famous movie, “The Drop Box”, Scott Ventureyra explains of the drop box. Decisively, she exactly points out when the first drop box was installed. Ventureyra explains more of how the drop box effected society. The site is commendable for a great layout and a whole lot of facts available to access simply through cyberspace, the internet. The purpose to supporting the movie possibly could be because of the site being Catholic.
Tuttle, Stacy. "The Drop Box Quotes." Shepherd Project. N.p., 4 Mar. 2015. Web. 28 Oct. 2015. Stacy Tuttle, has briefly mentioned that the quotes aren’t exactly from Pastor Lee, but rather from him and his wife. Tuttle takes the setting and the background into a play script format. Then she gets into the quotes Pastor Lee and his wife say. Tuttle uses a pattern, by saying the question first and then proceeding to Pastor Lee’s answer to the question. Tuttle includes a few facts after the interview. The quotes are credible for they hold Pastor Lee’s opinions which are then supported by
In the short time of six and a half minutes the film .The movie successfully narrates of finding your own path while listening to your elders. It clearly depicts that being different brings out the best in people. This is especially evident towards the end when the boy solves a problem on his own proving to his father and grandfather that there is more than one right way to do something. Not only did I find this movie stunning visually but I found that the movie made me feel like I was there in the moment with the boy following his discoveries and exploring the new land which made me feel more connected to the story and the timing of interesting plot twists and new discoveries was perfect. Even though there was no dialogue I was caught up in the animation and the emotions that are
The film is arguable a film about torture, and portrays torture as contributory in the finding of Osama bin Laden. The film portrays the real account of events which follows the Navy Seal Team 6 who ultimately kill Osama bin Laden. The film doesn’t provide the audience with any historical or political context, besides the mention of the 9/11 attacks. All the viewers need to know is that these al-Qaeda terrorists want to destroy the US because they hate the values and freedom which Americans hold, no other clarification of their reasons is
This challenge is unique to Korean churches with many immigrants, as American churches do not need to consider the first language of the members in providing the service. Through the interview with Pastor Choe, we can extract two important traits for the effective ministry. The church leaders should be aware of the fast changing paradigm of college ministry and be willing to improve the system according to the change if needed. Furthermore, an effective and smooth communication between the church leaders and between the members is one of the crucial factors for revival and growth. Even if he is a leader of the position, he is willing to resign and give the position to the new leader if it benefits the students’ faith life. Unfortunately, the significant change cannot occur unless the whole church members and the leaders agree to modify the church
Modern Technology. We live in such modern time that technology develops almost every day. Our whole life is built on technology and we depend in some way on them. People think that we cannot live without technology; moreover, our lives have become so busy and stressful that people are looking for any ways to make daily routine easier, and more people cannot imagine working day without a smartphone, TV, navigation systems, and the Internet. On the other hand, if analyze, people have become addicted, dependent to new technologies. The more we use technology the more people change. We expect more from technology and less from each other, and I believe that we gain many advantages from modern technology; however, we lose reality of our world. On film by Henry Alex Rubin “Disconnect”, author opens to us main idea of the film in the face of three stories. The film explores how heroes experience the negative effects and sides of modern communication technology by following three stories.
High modality, photos, captions and adjectives were inserted in the film and just like the documentary, those four will be the selection that I will be reviewing from. Documentaries are a better form to manipulate/ persuade an audience, as it’s more visually appealing, with the structural and language features contributing to the success. The purpose of me speaking is to voice out my opinions on the matter of ‘bias in media’ , while providing evidence and or facts to support this.
This film was a lot to take in due to is very unconventional use of mise-en-scene, cinematography, and most of all editing. I can honestly say that if I had not taken this film appreciation course, sadly I would not have made it through the first 10 minutes of pure madness. Had I not been able to better recognize the meaning or reasoning behind the editing style and use of artwork I would have been uninterested. Now, with all of that being said the movie over all is a fantastic piece of artwork. From the beginning scenes with the perfect use of illuminated blue lighting, to the use of cinematography to really bring us into the character’s perspective, to the creative use of hyper-kinetic style editing to give the feeling of freedom. It all comes together to really bring the audience a true feel of what the 1899 bohemian revolution would have been
The movie illustrates the life of the time, when it was made, what brings the audience closer because they felt this on their skin. In the beginning of the 21st century, people in Bosnia rebuilt their country after the bloody wars. In the early 1990s, after the downfall of Yugoslavia, countries started the fight for independence. New governments
Sandra Comerie-Smith lectured on Pastoral and Spiritual formation in global setting. During the lecture she gave several key points. There was one particular one that stood out to me. Rev. Smith said, “Sometimes as Christians we are not ready to face the full impact of what is happening in the world.” To be mental fit for ministry in a global setting one must possess a healthy and strong mind that allows us to handle the challenges and opportunities that life puts in from of you. With the new administration in place in Washington D.C. we are facing many challenges. The challenges of discrimination, the challenge of seeing a family separated as a result of deportation, and the challenge of individuals losing health coverage. With the new issues arising people will look to the church for direction. When this happens we must be mentally prepared to minister to the fear people are experiencing. Ronald E, Peters says, “Urban ministry must also reflect the potential love as the most effective alternative to fear.” As leaders we must demonstrate the heart of compassion to show the love people need in such a time as this. The best way we can be mentally fit to demonstrate the love of God is through self-care. As leaders we need to manage our situation better to prevent possible burn out. When we don’t take time out to equip ourselves mentally it would be difficult to help others through their ordeal. The plenary reminded me the importance of self-care to help keep me prepared for my Jonah
It’s literally just a plain cardboard box that has been sitting in the basement and unused for eons. The box is probably dusty and stinky by now since it has been dwelling in the basement for years, and it’s most likely home to some sort of creepy critter. No one dares walk into the basement, so no one has ever even opened this box. It could be any variety of things inside, but will anyone ever know? No one will ever know because even the owners of the house do not visit the basement. There’s an ominous feeling around it, that no one cares to hang around in. Why wouldn’t someone along the line open the box? Because the basement has an eerie feeling and because the box is tucked away in a dark corner that even light can’t touch. Plus the story of the box has been a local tale around the town for ages.
The movie “Kingdom of Heaven” tries to portray the crusades that occurred in the 12th century while at the same time describing the middle age era. Some of the movie content contains truth of that period as well as fiction. The movie follows Balian of Ibelin and his journey from being a blacksmith to defender of Jerusalem. Although the movie has manipulated some of the real events to appeal to a broader audience, make it more Hollywood like, it does a decent job in portraying the battle over Jerusalem and some of the circumstances around it.
I smirked because now comes the good part. “Heh heh heh. That may be true only if the capsule was really inside the capsule!”
The film is beautifully arranged unlike any other film about Jesus’ life. When the director, Mel Gibson, set about to put together this movie, he did it with the intention of showing you, to the best of his ability, about Jesus’ death. Many films focus on the miracles, the life, the ministry, and many other things.
The message of the movie is that Christianity has a voice and it is a unique one because initially it is counter cultural and looks offensive and it is never adequately understood until bears its fruit, many who reject
I didn’t write this review to get on a platform and preach, but I would like to say that this movie is about, what some might call tolerance, I would like to think of as love. Because when you love your neighbor as yourself you don’t speak fear, distrust and division. You try to overcome obstacles, you try to reach out to people and build trust. You try to live in the best way
This movie is first and foremost diaristic. It contains my life: the places I've been and the way I've responded to them, and the ideas I've had along the way. It is a work of spirit.
