According to scientific studies, Salinity is the saltiness or salt which is dissolved in a body of water . Salinity is an important factor in determining many aspects of the chemistry of natural waters and of biological processes within it and is a thermodynamic state variable that, along with temperature and pressure, governs physical characteristics like the density and the capacity of heat in the water. Under researchable conditions, pure water contains only oxygen and hydrogen molecules, but in the real world, many substances are often dissolved in water, like salt and other tiny atoms. There are a lot of ways to measure the salinity level of water. The salt water of the sea in the open ocean is amazingly constant at about 35 ppt. Salinity in an estuary varies according to one 's location in the estuary, the routine of the tides, and the volume of freshwater flowing into the estuary. In this science fair project. we will be using the salinity level to see if it rusts a Steel wool, also known as wire wool or wire sponge, is a bundle of very fine and flexible sharp-edged steel filaments. It was described as a new product in 1896. It is used in finishing or repair work for polishing wood or metal objects, cleaning household cookware, cleaning windows, but is very useful to sand surfaces. Water is the oxidation of iron so freshwater will also cause rust. But then agian , the salinity level of water
