The eightfold path, in the essence of Buddhism, is the path to achieve nirvana, a state in which there is neither suffering or desire/selfishness and the individual is liberated from the effects of karma and the cycle of death and rebirth. In other words, nirvana represents the final goal of Buddhism. The eightfold path itself is the fourth truth of The Four Noble Truths, also known as the four central beliefs, chronologically, for one to become enlightened or achieve enlightenment. The eightfold path consists of eight aspects for an individual to become free of suffering, which are the right understanding, thought, speech, action, livelihood, effort, mindfulness, and concentration. To depict the eightfold path, I have composed a series of visual figures that initiates my experience of the eightfold path. Throughout my journey, the suffering I have dealt with is “harassment” about how I am bad at particularly anything, most notably sports and education. Growing up, people have mocked my abilities or the very few skills I possessed because “it was not my thing.” An individual, part of a community whereas their self-esteem is very low, had to go through so much to end this form of suffering. In Buddhism, when one’s suffering ends, they achieve nirvana. However, in my case, when my suffering ends, I will prove doubters wrong. The path to my nirvana starts from the Right Speech.
