“Being fearless doesn 't mean being hundred percent without fear, it 's being terrified but still deciding to jump anyway”. Fear triggers the “fight or flight” response which is a survival mechanism that occurs in the brain that instinctively tells humans and animals to either escape or engage in life threatening or stressful situations. Through the “fight or flight” response, you choose to either prevail or back down from threatening yet “scary” situations such as speaking in front of a crowd, taking a major test, talking to your crush, or even competing in the ring. Being fearless is defined as a person 's openness to accept difficult challenges, their ability to generate positive and uplifting thoughts, and willingness and …show more content…
Despite my uncertainty and concern, I decided to accept the fight because I believe that regardless of not knowing the possible outcome of obstacles in life , I should never back down but instead remain positive, embrace the challenge, and focus consistently on my intense martial arts training in preparation for the fight.
As time passed, before you know it fight night was just a few days out and I felt ready yet unprepared, but the thought of winning and having that medal around my neck kept me striving for greatness. One of the most important aspects of overcoming fear is maintaining positive and inspiring thoughts when encountering problems throughout life. From training vigorously, eating a clean diet, and getting enough rest, I still felt mentally unprepared for the challenging fight to come. My coaches and teammates notice how tense I became overtime and asked me if there was anyway they could assist me in easing my nerves but I was speechless. My head martial arts master, being Buddhist, decides to take my teammates and I to a local temple to get prayer for upcoming fights. My head instructor, teammates, and I travelled to a temple in silver spring and once we enter the room of worship, we faced a enormous statue of Buddha and received blessings from Buddhist monks for my fight and future life 's challenges. The wise words and blessings from the monks from the
Courage is an important quality to have, because everyone can’t always be afraid of everything and let their fears hold them back. Sometimes people have to do things that they don’t want to do, or they have to face their fears.
Bravery is often defined as having courage or being intrepid, but it’s much more than that, it’s having strength to face danger.
The fight-or-flight response is a very important reaction of the human body. It can help us decide whether a situation is suitable to fight back or flee for safety. In many ways the fight-or-flight response can be useful in a stressful setting that would be difficult to decide for ourselves. Think of it as a bodyguard, it protects you when your body is faced with a risky situation. Likewise, it can tell your brain if a setting is too dangerous to fight in and would be better to just run. The fight-or-flight response is a real thing and not an excuse to act cowardly in dangerous situations. Studies have proven extensive research done by Walter Cannon on the autonomic nervous system and noticeable side effects such as: the chills, increased
Nelson Mandela once said “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” This quote explains how we must overcome our fears to become courageous and brave. She had to go to the store and grab pants for a party. Sounds like an simple task, but not for Beth. As she was shopping she left all of her belongings in a changing room and was going to look for a shirt. She told a friendly salesperson named Hanne where she was headed. On the way she was
Fearless, something that doesn’t come by often. I usually see people who fear something, but these people fear nothing. One time I was fearless when I was doing a group project. We all had to present in the front of the class and i was worried, but I did it along with the rest of my group. I presented and it wasn’t so bad. I was no longer scared to go up there which made me fearless. The story “Thief Eyes” shows the character is fearless doing brave actions.
Whether it’s standing up for a kid who’s been made fun of, talking in front of a large crowd, or even engaging in a new experience, courage is an impeccable character trait which is greatly admired. Courage is what can get you to go places in life, and set you apart from the rest of the crowd. Bruce, a famous martial artist, once said, “Courage is not the absence of fear. It is the ability to act in the presence of fear.” You don’t have to be fearless to pursue your goals, you just have to learn how to push through your fears and weaknesses. This quote can be connected to my life, the arts, and even the world around us.
You may be asking, what does the word truly mean? Fearless doesn’t only mean having an absence of fear, or being completely confident. You still have your doubts, being fearless is just moving on in spite of the concerns that you have. It means having the courage to say goodbye to your fallen

The meaning of courage is not being fearless but being able to face our fear even though we feel scared inside. I first realize the truth of this sentence when I faced my first chalenging situation in personal life. I was in elementary school when I almost drowned. The trauma of it makes me afraid getting into a large body water for a long time. And that fear kept me from learning how to swim. Since I live far from ocean and river, I did not think it was necessary for me to learn to swim. Funnily enough, I choose a major in University that require to do some swimming in a subject course for one semester. Of course I never anticipated that and I flunked in that subject. My inability to swim resulted on me getting E score at the end of second
One of the oldest forms of survival is the fight or flight response. Numerous examples of outrageous feats performed by people can be found, but the most pure form can be found in those who still use it daily, and actually use it for survival. Animals utilize their fight or flight response to survive in nature, where a delay or lapse in judgement could result in their death.
They key year of my journey from white belt to second-degree black belt were arduous! It took a lot of discipline to stand and sit still, and physically give it my all to do it right. After all if Ralph Macchio could do it for a mere movie, I should be able to martial arts for my own sake; this is my life after
Courage is a necessity to overcome fears and achieve a desired goal. Fear is something that exists in all of us. There is no hero or any particular courageous figure that is without fear. The deaths have taken the place of reason in my mind; they have made the decision to leave Novi Templi for me, and have murdered the voices of reason and common sense, and left only the screaming voices of revenge in my tortured mind saying but one word: RUN. The journey to Veteribus will be long. The voices tell me so, but they have been tortured by what my eyes have seen throughout my long 17 years in this dreadful excuse of a country. So much so that nothing remains of the original, innocent, and human thoughts of the babe I once was. The fight or flight instinct is now my trained response. Always on guard, always alert. Is it possible that, rather this is all real, I’m insane? Could it be that I’ve made a reality in my sick mind
Some of the reasons why human cannot be fearless are “Fear is healthy”, “You don’t need to be in danger to be scared” and “Fear is not as automatic as you think”.
