AFTER THE first round of racing was completed, after the sun had set on the first day of the festival, Rubio, Julia, Aurelius Falco and Alfidia and her two daughters, retired to the Domus Aurelia. Rubio was rather weary from his injuries and wished only for his bed and concrete cubicle. But Julia was having none of that. She prepared one of the villa’s many spare bedrooms and had Rubio brought in, so she could watch over him and care for him personally. He was bruised and body sore but would recover in a few days, so said the Lageum’s head surgeon. And once he was comfortably situated, Falco brought in the stable medicus, and he too gave a favorable diagnosis; Rubio would be up and running in few days time, and well-enough to participate …show more content…
So, the letters were tempered with legal propriety and probity, just as they’d always been written. When he finished, he rolled them up and franked them with his personal wax seal, then had them delivered, posthaste, by a special night courier. After that, he summoned Titus Buccio. It was time for a late night confab. “Come hither, Buccio,” Falco said, motioning to the empty chair in front of his large desk. “Take a chair, will you?” “Many thanks, Dominus,” Buccio replied, sitting down in the chair offered. “I got your summons and I came right over.” “And I thank you for prompt response, Buccio.” Falco poured Buccio a cup of wine and slid it across his desk. “Have some wine?” Buccio took up the cup of wine and took a little drink. “Mmm... excellent wine this,” he remarked, sighing pleasurably, suitably pleased. “Falernian, is it?” “It is.” Falco nodded. Buccio reclined more comfortably, crossing his legs. “I’m surprised you called me in so late, Dominus. This is quite unprecedented. Must be important, eh?” “Yes, quite important.” Falco clasped his hands in his lap and leaned back in his chair. “I bid you, Buccio...” he began. “What make you of today’s calamity, hmm? Any observations as to why Rubio wrecked—and so soon after starting? What say you, my man?” “Alas, Dominus,” Buccio replied, a grim look on his pudgy face. “Young Rubio was in a bad mood today before the race, as I recall. Nearly bowled me over when I ordered him to the starting
“I know. It does not seem possible. As I could not find you I was just going to talk to Luchresi. If anyone understands wines it is Luchresi. He will tell me…”
The novel The Art of Racing in the Rain, by Garth Stein, is both an emotional and an intelligent read portrayed through the author’s use of flashback, humor, and intellect. Through these, the author tells a meaningful story about life and death and the importance of both.
“We just hit a bit of a lull through the year, we lost a couple of players to the NRL, a few injuries. You can never expect them to be up every week, I knew there would be a time that that’s going to happen, so I’m happy it was halfway during the year.”
The riveting journey of Enzo and Denny takes place in Seattle, Washington. The two main characters of Garth Stein’s The Art of Racing in the Rain are a unique dynamic duo made up of a smart yellow Labrador named Enzo, and a racecar driver named Denny. The story of their experiences is told through the analytical eyes and nose of Enzo. I found this approach intriguing and captivating because it differs from the traditional way of story telling. Enzo is different from other dogs because he believes he is a dog with a human soul. “I’ve always felt almost human. I’ve always known that there’s something about me that’s different than other dogs. Sure, I’m … the shell. It’s what’s inside that’s important. The soul. And my soul is very
Dracora shot him a glare. "I can handle it, thank you. Now, who is waiting for me in the throne room?"
Blistering heat, rushing adrenaline, and a lost voice are all ways to describe one example of a leadership experience that I had was during my junior year at my second CBL Cross Country race. I remember that at this time, instead of putting in our top seven runners at this varsity race, we actually instead put in our number eight through 14 runners on the team due to our coach playing a gamble and seeing if we could still possibly win the League Championship while sitting out our top racers.
Chris Peterson is racing in the biggest and the frist race of the year as his frist cup stock car race. The cup level is the highest level of stock car racing competition. THis race was oe the best races of all time because everyone was racing ont eh edge of chaos for the race. Chris though everyone was racing like idiots because it look like they are going to crash for the race. On the last laps of the race everyone is so close it look like anyone will crash and burn or win. SO everyone is racing really hard and it looks like someone will crash. that is why it wasn't surprising to anyone that there was a big major wreck on the last lap. Chris Peterson cut right in front of another car and that cause that car to spin hit another car. That

The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein vs. Life of Pi by Yann Martel
“Thank you Chief, we very much appreciate that. I’ll go call my team and let you know when we will start.” I walk out of the room to go call Moretti.
Sebastian held back a chuckle at the suggestion that him and Ciel would ever chat. "You've received a letter from the Queen," Sebastian said, handing over the envelope. "I suggest you read it now, young master, the messenger implied that it's urgent."
1. The protagonist of book was Enzo. Enzo is the narrator of the book and he is a golden retriever dog. 2. When Enzo dies, he wants to be reincarnated as a human and be friends with Denny.
In The Art of Racing in the Rain, Denny, Eve, and Enzo were characterized by the major roles in filling this great novel with action, emotion, and drama. Many people can learn many things from this book, whether it be good or bad. It was filled with life, death and new beginnings that played a crucial role in the story. Denny showed his determination and love for his family throughout the story. Eve showed the transition from life to death in the most beautiful way. Finally Enzo showed how precious life is and how much you can learn on the way.
“Well, it was. You’ll understand once I will tell you the reason why you are here at the moment, my dear.” he quickly said, as if that was the answer he was waiting for.
Throughout the last two weeks, I have been reading Garth Stein’s The Art of Racing in the Rain. The Art of Racing in the Rain is 336 pages and I finished the book. This book was written from a dog-named Enzo’s point of view. The dogs owner, Denny, was an amateur racecar driver, a dad, and a husband. His wife eventually died from cancer, so all he had left was his dog and daughter. Denny’s daughter, Zoe stayed with her grandparents and mom while she was dying, so Denny could continue to work and his wife could be with her parents. After his wife’s death the grandparents thought it would be best if Zoe stayed with them because Denny was very sad and they didn’t think he was capable of caring for a child. Denny was not happy with that at all
