Lastly the Gettysburg Address was one of the main turning points in the war. In Document D Lincoln talks about how the soldiers on the battlefield were holy for fighting in Gettysburg. President Lincoln gave the Gettysburg address, during the address Lincoln talks about the soldiers that were fighting in Gettysburg. Also Lincoln addressed slavery in the Gettysburg address, Lincoln asked his supporters to help the slavery problem.(document D). The supporters tried to help Lincoln by giving freedom to slaves.

The historian David Blight says that Lincoln’s message in the Gettysburg Address was to help the people recover from the deficit from the Battle of Gettysburg and the casualties that were caused by it. Lincoln simply wants to rebuild the country.

The Gettysburg address was announced by Abraham Lincoln after the Battle of Gettysburg in the civil war. His main goal was to remind the nation that the soldiers who fought this battle did it to create a country where everyone is equal and to unify America. We as a nation proved how strong we are and how we are going to last. We will do whatever for equality and freedom. A lot of lives were lost, becoming a very historical memory and time period that we will forever remember. We dedicate this land to the ones who fought for this country and what they believe in. This is the right thing to do, the fighters and survivors of this war deserve this honor, but losing these many lives can not be rejoiced and celebrated. This can not be a sacred, holy place.
