When the stock market crashed in 1929, the economy plummeted over the next few years, into what they now call the Great Depression.The Great Depression caused devastating effects to everyone in America. Many people during the Great Depression lost their jobs, their houses or farms, and struggled to just put food on the table. In to Kill a Mockingbird, it shows the many effects of the Great Depression in America.
