The Great Gatsby a novel for most ages
The novel The Great Gatsby is a dated story that still has not lost its relevance in
today’s age. The novel raises many vital questions that most person must face in their
lifetime. Accordingly, the theme of the novel The Great Gatsby does have an instructive
effect on its readers. Some might suggest that the story if too mature or perhaps too
obscure for an average high school student in the United States, I believe this novel
should be taught in high school classes all over the country. In order to prove this
position, it is necessary to consider what deep effect(s) (if any) The Great Gatsby might
have on high school students.
In order to better understand why The Great Gatsby novel must remain part of the
high school literature curriculum, U.S. high school literature criteria should be examined
and placed under a microscope. High schools and other educational institutions have
been created to prepare students with a basic level of educational understanding and to
better prepare for an adult college life. In most books there is a hidden morality behind
the overall plot. Consequently, any book that is taught in high school English classes
with in the United States should bring the reader some basic life experience. This “book
experience” is invaluable because odds are that the

bit of advice
In 1925, F. Scott Fitzgerald published his book, The Great Gatsby. Since then, the popularity of the book continues to grow, is still taught in schools, and has been made into a movie twice. The book takes you through an adventure of a hopeless romantic who throws extravagant parties hoping one day he would discover someone to help him find the girl he has always loved. Gatsby puts his lover, Daisy, on a pedestal and believes she is larger than life. Everything he does to win her over is ideally perfect, but not realistic. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald highlights the concept of Idealism versus Realism throughout the book.

The novel The Great Gatsby (1925) by F. Scott Fitzgerald, revolves around the main character, Jay Gatsby, his actions, and his ambitions. The book tells of the twisted, corrupt love triangle that is formed between Gatsby, Daisy Buchanan, and Tom Buchanan. This develops when Gatsby is reacquainted with Daisy after not seeing her for five years. As the story develops, unfavorable aspects are demonstrated by Gatsby: his obsession with Daisy, his dishonesty with Nick and Tom, and his manipulation of Nick and Daisy. These traits portray him as a corrupt man, wanting only what is best for himself. Therefore, Gatsby’s actions prohibit him from being the hero of the novel.
I believe this novel has somewhat of a relevance for modern readers in today’s society.

In particular, the 1974 film decreases its effectiveness in representing the message that Fitzgerald was attempting to demonstrate in the book, which contributes to the book being significantly better than the film for various reasons.

Many consider The Great Gatsby a beautiful love story. A literary review site, for example, says about Fitzgerald’s most famous work: “The Great Gatsby is probably F. Scott Fitzgerald 's greatest novel […] Gatsby is really nothing more than a man desperate for love”(The Great Gatsby Review). Popular opinion paints Gatsby as such: A man desperate for love, devoid of any evil. But a closer look uncovers a new side of Jay Gatsby because Gatsby, underneath his glorious façade, is a sociopath.

Statement of Intent: While The Great Gatsby may not seem like a classic coming of age story, considering that the protagonist, Nick, establishes himself as an adult through his experiences. His overall character matures as he is exposed to the realities of new morals. With this topic I intend to combine the themes and experiences of the novel that ultimately change Nick’s persona.
When reading a book you should be transported into a world that you can both relate to but also learn from. In the Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald you are effectively transported into the early twentieth century. You see many things that people living in 1922 would have to go through as well as things that are still relatable to today. Throughout the novel, Fitzgerald shows you many images to effectively convey and highlight his themes of the innocence and lose of innocence, differences in social classes, and the american dream.
