Dear, Mr Curley
I remember it as if it were yesterday. There I was in trouble for insubordination. I thought to myself , ¨ Damn, already causing trouble in high school. Well this guy has never dealt with a student like me¨. I remember the first words that you said were ¨ I don't want to hear anything but the truth, did you or did you not say the f word in class?¨. I said ¨yes¨ ands you said, ¨Alright honest man I like that¨ and you just sent me back up to class. I've grown up a lot since that day Mr.Curley, all thanks to you I have learned a lot. I remember the old me, god what an idiot right? My simpleton days are not far from over, I still have a lot to learn, but thanks to you I have been directed in a better path. I remember my old days, they consisted of me coming high to class off of cough syrup or the common drug “Marijuana”. This would interfere with my learning capability. Not only would my mental state be affected, but my physical state as well. I remember I gained weight, my GPA was close to a zero, I was considered one of the many “drop outs” of my generation.

All those who said that I wasn’t able to achieve my goal. It has been a lot of pressure this year, and with you keeping a close eye on me it has been a little annoying, but I am getting out. Right now I am planning to go to Montgomery College and then transfer to University of Maryland. I still haven’t decided what to study though: Whether or not it is a Fire science degree or a Business I am not sure. I am interested in the culinary arts as well, as you know I did work in a country club kitchen. I am still unsure. WHo knows? Maybe a little down the line of my future I will see you again, and maybe buy a drink or something that grown folk do. Maybe you might have me come back to EInstein as a speaker next year to tell people of my story? Who knows? My future is not really clear to me right now, but I do know this: I am going to continue my
It deeply saddens me to say we are all gathered here today to remember the life of James Gatz, or better known as Jay Gatsby. When I first moved here to West Egg a few years ago I quickly took notice of Jay and was determined to find out more about him. To my own surprise, Gatsby grew on me and as time progressed our friendship prospered. You see, Gatsby was different from the people of West Egg, he was better and he deserved better than what he got. He also threw the most outstanding parties in history. {chuckles lightly} Day by day, my respect for this extraordinary man grew and grew stronger. Jay had something special about him that many failed to notice and embrace.
Themes of hope, success, and wealth overpower The Great Gatsby, leaving the reader with a new way to look at the roaring twenties, showing that not everything was good in this era. F. Scott Fitzgerald creates the characters in this book to live and recreate past memories and relationships. This was evident with Gatsby and Daisy’s relationship, Tom and Daisy’s struggling marriage, and Gatsby expecting so much of Daisy and wanting her to be the person she once was. The theme of this novel is to acknowledge the past, but do not recreate and live in the past because then you will not be living in the present, taking advantage of new opportunities.
The written task is an eulogy speech given by Nick Carraway for Jay Gatsby’s funeral. It is based on novel for Part 3 “The Great Gatsby”. It talks about Nick’s journey with Gatsby, explaining his feelings towards Gatsby, and how it changes as he spends more time with him. It explores the character of Gatsby, explaining the social upper class at the time. Nick is also explored as an ambivalent character with conflicting view about Gatsby. In this case, he looks at the good side of Gatsby, since it is a solemn event where people who knew Gatsby such as his father, servants, and guests remember Gatsby’s life, and therefore he needs to portray Gatsby as a great man to those who have come to pay respects.

Gatsby’s wealth has an unknown secret because nobody seems to know where his wealth emerged from. Despite of having so much fortune, Gatsby’s true American dream has not been achieved. The story The Great Gatsby written by F. Scott Fitzgerald takes you through the life of the protagonist of the novel, Jay Gatsby, who is shot to death in the end. Who was really the reason for Gatsby’s death? There are many of reasons that lead up to Gatsby’s death and several people who are considered to have caused it. Although George Wilson physically killed him, Tom Buchanan, Daisy Buchanan and Jay Gatsby himself all take part in the death. Tom’s anger, Daisy’s carelessness, and Gatsby’s idea of the American Dream all contribute to his death in the end.
There are few men like himself. In measure of achievements, wealth, popularity, works, deeds, social status and many other things I will not lists, few came close to what Mr. Gatsby had. But how are these quantified? How do we determine if Mr. Gatsby truly was a great man?
“...he stretched out his arms toward the dark water in a curious way, and, far as I was from him, I could have sworn he was trembling. Involuntarily I glanced seaward – and distinguished nothing except a single green light, minute and far away, that might have been the end of a dock” (Fitzgerald 20-21). The Great Gatsby, by Scott Fitzgerald, is a story about Jay Gatsby, a popular millionaire, as told by Nick Carraway. Gatsby is deeply in love with Nick’s cousin Daisy and when he finally gets to meet her again, the love isn’t how it was. Gatsby is shot in the end by Mr. Wilson and was accused of the murder of Myrtle. Anthem, by Ayn Rand, is about Equality 7-2521 and his experiences in a society that didn’t allow any individualism. In the book “The Great Gatsby” there is many things that people say made Gatsby a great or a not so much of a great person. Gatsby was a great man because he became someone with almost everything anybody could and would want but grew up from with nothing, He made all this money from working jobs that were not so great and people envied him for it even though they did not know what he did, and he was just a very mysterious and many people found that very intriguing about him. person For people that didn’t know who he was when he was younger, they all expect him to be old money and get the money from his parents, but as we learn he made his money by working, good or bad jobs he still made money and he was successful and he was proud of it.
Another significant factor that contributes to this aspiration is seen through Daisy Buchanan. In Daisy's case, it is seen that she does not thrive for happiness and is handed all the wealth and beauty without putting in the effort. For her social class, however, she was only given one job which was to be a vision of beauty with a perfect husband and children despite not being truly happy. When Daisy marries Tom, she does so not because she loves him, but because he can promise her a more comfortable and reliable life than Jay Gatsby can. She is stuck between true happiness and being blinded by wealth and comfort. Even though Gatsby want her there for him she is so enclose by Tom’s wealth that she is blind to her true
“Is Tom most responsible for Gatsby’s death? Daisy? Myrtle? Gatsby himself? Give reasons why or why not each character is implicated in the murder.”
"They're a rotten crowd, I shouted across the lawn. You're worth the whole damn bunch put together"(186). One of the few words at the end of the story that Nick told Gatsby, he actually meant that was not a lie. This was also the last thing nick said to Gatsby before he left to his train.Gatsby was later killed before Nick had a chance to come back.. In the Great Gatsby.F. Scott Fitzgerald, demonstrates you can not relive in the past as the outcome will lead you towards an unknown place you never seen before, far from where you want to be.
Today was like any other Sunday I had before, except this time it was different in a way that I thought I would never experience. Today, Daisy, the love of my life, had came to my garden party. She was not alone though, she was with Tom. At first I didn't care, passed right over my head, for she is all I care about and by being in her presents I am utterly fulfilled. But it was as if like a cloud had been cased over the party. Tom was producing a negative energy which did not sit well with the rest of the party. I could even tell my old friend, Nick, was feeling quite uncomfortable with the atmosphere. All I wanted to do was ask him to leave but not with Daisy. He could leave her behind and oh! if that happened I would be satisfied with everything. I would have asked all the

For Nick, Gatsby's lies, his affectation and his fraud are no matter; nor is his failure to win back Daisy; what matters is the supporting belief in the value of striving for a marvelous object, not its predictable disappearance and meaninglessness. In a significant shift in of the novel's final sentences, Nick unites Gatsby's effort with a general, if unspecified, national collective.
