In the beginning of The Great Gatsby, the narrator Nick is critical of the upper class, but hopeful. Toward the end he is disappointed because he realizes how the lifestyle they live is unrealistic. During the novel, the upper class is disrespectful and full of themselves. When he gets to know the characters he notices how the upper class is so unfriendly and snotty. This easy and luxurious lifestyle that they are living is unattainable to everyone because nobody can get there. The American dream is described as making a ton of money and being snotty about it. Happiness is a dream people chase but most fail to reach. Some choose to accept the fact that they cannot have what they want but others persevere and force their way into having it in one way or another. People who are determined enough do not mind using unethical means to achieve their goals, which is demonstrated by the protagonist of The Great Gatsby. Jay Gatsby is a character who is not deterred by his dreams being almost impossible and manages to achieve his goals, although he does not enjoy them for long. Gatsby is a modern tragic hero because of his class background, tragic flaw, and reversal of fortune.
Baz Luhrmann’s interpretation of the final chapter from of “The Great Gatsby” works very well. Even without the scenes that Baz had originally shot, but later removed. The ending is still coherent, it is not missing any vital parts that would leave the viewer confused. The scenes that Baz Luhrmann decided to include also help to demonstrate the things that Nick Carraway says about the New Yorkers at the end of the novel. And the removal of some scenes also helps with Nick’s re-internalization which a major part of the ending of the last
The "Twenties" was an exciting time in American history, when being a "flapper" and rebelling against the common say of society was all the rage. As in The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Jay Gatsby is a popular yet mysterious "flapper," whose image is created through the life of Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald portrayed his life, problems, and triumphs, through his image of Jay Gatsby. The correlations between the life of F. Scott Fitzgerald and the life of his character Jay Gatsby, is that Gatsby and Fitzgerald were both brought up the same way, both used their popularity the same way, as well as signifying the life he wanted through Gatsby.
Luhrmann’s reveal of who Gatsby really is could have outclassed the reveal of Darth Vader to Luke. The turning turmoil of the dialog between Nick and Gatsby leads to an explosion of color and climax of music. Luhrmann stuns the audience with motion and has them clinging onto their seats as the reveal occurs:

Thomas, the protagonist, had no idea what was going on. But when he reached his destination the top of the box opened and he was being looked down upon by an estimated 60 boys, all around his age. The book Great Gatsby is about love and how society worked in the roaring 20s. In the book Nick Carraway (narrator) who moved from Minnesota to New York to work as a bond salesmen. He talks about how he helped his neighbor named Jay Gatsby get his love Daisy back. Gatsby is a man who has a mysterious past, and secretive side that no one knows about. Jay Gatsby used to be called Jay Gatz before he met his mentor Dan Cody, a wealth man who took a poor farm boy under his wing. Cody took Gatz on a trip around the continent to learn, and by the time of Cody’s death Gatz had become man and changed his name to Jay Gatsby. After Cody passed away Gatsby was the person who will get Cody’s wealth. With his new wealth Gatsby bought a house in West Egg right across for the lake where Daisy his lost love leaved. When Gatsby found that Nick and Daisy were related, Gatsby asked Nick if he could help him get Daisy back. Throughout the summer Nick and Gatsby became really good friends. After a big dispute between Myrtle and her husband about her having a secret affair (Daisy’s husband), Myrtle decided to leave, but Wilson wouldn’t allow it. One night Tom decides to invite Gatsby and Nick to dinner in the city, where Daisy and Tom get in a big fight. After the fight Daisy leaves in anger and Gatsby goes with her to calm her down, but while Daisy was driving she did not see Myrtle on the road and the car hit Myrtle where she died. Nick went over to the mansion and asked is Gatsby was sick and the butler at the door no and then Nick tells him to let Gatsby know that he had stopped by. Nick then was informed that Gatsby fired all of his servants and replaced them with a dozen new shady individuals because he wanted to prevent gossip. The next day Gatsby had called Nick on the phone and he explained that all the new servants were connected to Meyer Wolfsheim. Gatsby then told him that Daisy wanted him to go over to her house the next day for lunch. The next day Nick took the train to East Egg. He arrived at the house to see that Daisy, Jordan and Gatsby are all there. Tom was on the phone with someone then came into the room to greet everyone. He left again and Daisy kissed Gatsby and told him how much she loved him. A nurse then brought Daisy and Tom’s daughter into the room where they all were. Tom shows Gatsby his house and he points out that he lives across the bay. During lunch Daisy explains that she is bored and said that they should all go into town. Daisy and Gatsby lock eyes with each other and then Tom realizes that they love each other and something is seemingly going on between them.
