The Green Party The United States is commonly known as just a two party system but there are third parties that affect the government just as much. The first form of the national Green Party organization was founded in 1984 as a party that discussed the importance of community involvement and peoples rights. Since then, some of their ideas and opinions have changed but they still believe in the United States people 's rights. The Green Party now discusses such topics as Immigration, Zero Waste, National Debt, Fair Taxation, Criminal Justice, and Political Reforms. Immigration is one of the most controversial topics regarding U.S. Government and is still greatly debated. According to The New York Times the number of illegal immigrants in the United States is 11.7 million people and rising. The Green Party thinks that, “Countries do have a right to know the identity of persons seeking to enter,” (go.org) but at the same time they also believe that, “[People should be able to] freely choose [where] to live…and work,”(gp.org). They are addressing this issue because illegal immigrants are taken advantage off in several ways. Employers, since there employees aren 't legally in the country, end up not fairly paying their workers. The deportation of immigrants also leads to family 's being broken up which often times creates problems among making enough money to survive. Like people
