The film illustrates the hero that can be likened to a representative of the American soldier who goes out to get information about a particular crime. During the movie, Ray gets to the point to understand the Indian culture by studying the problems the go through in the United States of America (Fusco 3). As Michael Apted directed the film, it is a fictional representation of a soldier who is wounded in serving the people. The central scenario is dominant of the Native Americans complaining about rights violation. Ray plays the part of the FBI agent who gets preoccupied with investigating the hilarious acts the people complain about in the society. The hero as portrayed in the film takes much time trying to figure out where the criminal lives. In fact, the FBI agent is an Indian native, but he has never lived according to his beliefs. He is the Sam Shepard 's partner, who has the responsibility of delivering the best service according to the duties attached to him. Besides, Ray became an option since his heritage was complicated making him suitable for the investigation (Alvarez, Jenn and Waawaate 95). By working with the government, he fails to represent the true heroic nature, who should defend his people against the ills and odds that they go through. He goes on the mission under the support of agent Frank, someone that he enjoys working with due to his previous successes in the similar incidence. While on the mission, Ray becomes so informed about the way of life of
The film, Mississippi Burning (1988), directed by Alan Parker and starring Willem Dafoe and Gene Hackman, delves into the story of two FBI agents who travel to the state of Mississippi in order to investigate the disappearance of three civil right activists. Two agents, Rupert Anderson and Alan Ward, utilise various different methods in order to obtain the crucial information needed to resolve this case and gain closure. It is prominently argued throughout the film whether these investigational procedures are deemed to be fair and morally just towards the people of Mississippi. Hence, allowing for exploration of the damage caused by the FBI’s methods, the acquired
“Heroes and victims are the product of the mood they were in when opportunity came or when circumstances were at their worst” said Orson Scott Card. In every movie or television show has a hero and victim but which one is going to have the fans and watchers vote? A hero is a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. As an anti-heroic is one who doesn 't act like a typical hero but often is a little villainous. Heroes are from many different cultures for example superman and batman. Chuck Bass is an anti-heroic main character, from the novel and television show Gossip Girls, where he is noted for his financial ambition, hedonism, and personal style. Bass is a huge
American Heroes were inspired by Greek Tragic Heroes, yet both are very different from each other, but American Heroes have very similar traits to those who are Contemporary Heroes. An American Hero is a person who seeks justice and always defeats the enemy which results in all people having the justice they deserve. American Heroes also tends to protect all and has the tendency to fall in love with the “ damsel in distress”. This type of hero goes about his daily life, just like anyone else would, until it is time to fight, and at that time, their “supernatural” powers shine through in their fighting techniques. On the other side, all Tragic Heroes possess a flaw that will change their life from a life of happiness to a life of pain and despair. Ordinarily, Contemporary Heroes have nearly the same traits as American Heroes. Contemporary Heroes save and protect many individuals from violence and harm and lives a normal life until they have to face another obstacle. Both American and Contemporary Heroes are able to celebrate their victories, while Tragic Heroes can not do so because they are not victorious.

In the speech, “Heroes” by Tim O’Brien, he discusses what a true hero is; likewise, he elaborates his story about how he met him. O’Brien’s message on heroism is a true hero is not someone who wins a lot of games; however, it is the ones who sit in silence as we succeed or fail and is always there for us. He advocates this message through his flashback and imagery.

Themes and symbols are key components to writing a novel. In the novel A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier by Ishmael Beah, Beah utilizes a variety of themes and symbols throughout the book some more dominant than others. Instead of using words Beah uses symbols to underscore his central theme of freedom because words just cannot explain the freedom he experienced in his life. Three symbols that he uses effectively include the guns when he realizes that even though guns are bad they can be used for good reasons, his cassettes when he realized that music means much more than just entertainment to him and lastly the moon when he realizes that the smallest things in life always guides you in the right direction.
“An Army’s bravest men are its cowards. The death which they would not meet at the hands of the enemy they will meet at the hands of their officers, with never a flinching.” (Ambrose Bierce 1) The author, Ambrose Bierce, was a first Lieutenant in the Union Army from 1861-1865 and wrote a short story called “The Mockingbird”, to reflect upon his life on the battlefield. He served his country on numerous battlefields, including Shiloh, the one he mentions in great detail within his story. It was clear early on that Bierce was driven to succeed. In his life, he dealt with many tragedies but he also proved he would never be deterred. To him, sustaining success was just as important as achieving success—perhaps more so—and it didn’t happen overnight. He continued to advance in life despite obstacles, and just like the character in the book, they both endured the same challenges. “The Mockingbird” reflects upon a main character named Private William Graylock, who aspires to be a brave war hero; however, he battles his own unethical character flaws by fabricating his own stories and his battles with his own psychological issues.
This source is talking about what it takes to be a hero, and the pressure that men have to be strong in difficult situations. The author states that men always have had the pressure on them even back in King Arthur's time, because of the sacred rules of the male honor code. When you're in a leadership position all eyes are on you most of the time. You have to carry yourself in a certain matter, while speaking in a certain tone. But what exactly is a hero, and what makes a person into a hero? We all want to believe when bad things happen and there's a need for a hero, we will act heroically, but maybe that won't be the case. I will use this peer scholarly source to stress the fact that Lieutenant Cross was expected to be a hero, but he possibly
This specific document titled “Heroes and Heroines of the War” was created by Thomas Nast in 1864. Thomas Nast was born on September 27, 1840 in Germany, but six years later his family moved to New York to start a fresh life. Even from a young age, Nast was an avid drawer who later in life would make his greatest ambition into an occupation. He began his career as a political cartoon artist for the Leslie’s Illustrated in 1855 and then in 1859 continued his passion of illustrating at Harper’s Weekly. His work as an artist made a profound effect on many individuals and impacted how America pondered certain subjects. Nast was a dedicated northerner who believed the southern people were enemies who did not care for anything else,
The cultural movement of hip hop music was created by African-Americans during the late 1960s and was composed of chanted rhythmic lyrics accompanied with a repeated beat, also known as rap music. Rap accentuated the syncopated, perpetual rhythms of percussion and other instruments. Its popularity continued in the 2000s and it transformed from being the music of choice of the predominantly poor and urban into conventional everyday music, bringing people from all over the world together (Blanchard). In the true story A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier (2007), a young, gentle twelve-year-old boy named Ishmael Beah reluctantly becomes a soldier during the Sierra Leone civil war. After Beah’s village gets attacked, he and his friends wander from place to place searching for food and shelter. They struggle to survive every day until Beah is enlisted as a soldier, brainwashed by the army to take revenge on the rebels who killed his family. He and the other soldiers get addicted to drugs, including cocaine, marijuana, and brown-brown, to provide them with the energy and courage to fight in war. The novel largely deals with Beah’s resilience -- he is one of the few children who has the resilience and motivation to overcome suffering from the war and preserve hope for a better future. Beah uses physical descriptions of his love of rap music, his family’s wisdom, and his affinity to nature in order to explain his ability to withstand and recover from the horrors of being

I just received a post card that said “The Anatomy of a Service Hero” and I thought of Zeph. Until I saw this post card I thought the service hero was just for those that worked the call center and maybe it is, but I believe Zeph deserves to be nominated. So I go to nominate her and I see there is a long manager section, so I wanted to check with you first. After all that looks like a lot of work for you. Or maybe that part is filled out by the manager if the person has been selected. I’m not sure exactly how it works, I just wanted to let you know I want to nominate her and below is what I intended on adding.
Born on June 20th of 1925 to a family of poor sharecroppers in small town Texas, Audie Leon Murphy had no idea he would soon be leaving for the deadliest war to ever plague the Earth. Fresh out of the horrors of the First World War, few would have thought that yet another, deadlier war was on the horizon. Even fewer would’ve thought that a farm boy from Texas would become one of the greatest heroes of the war.
