Hunting people is “The Most Dangerous Game”. The Hunger Games is the most difficult game to win. Rainsford was shown to be a witty, resourceful, and patient person. He even outfoxed General Zaroff in his own crazy game. Katniss was shown to be a quick thinker and had a determination to get back to her family. The creators of these characters developed the protagonists through the use of man vs. man, man vs. nature, and man vs. fate conflict. Katniss is an excellent hunter with a little sister and a mother. Rainsford was an intelligent sailor who fell off his boat accidentally.
One of the ways Katniss and Rainsford developed is when they had to go through man vs. fate conflict. Such as when in The Hunger Games, Katniss and Peeta end up winning and going home together. There is supposed to be only one winner in the games yet she defied her fate and came back home with Peeta. Also In The Hunger Games, Katniss survives the games and becomes a victor and gets to come back to her family. This is surprising since Katniss, being from district 12, won the games even though people from district 1&2 usually win. Tributes from district 1 & 2 usually win because they usually are the most skilled and dangerous tributes. However, The Hunger Games isn’t the only story where the protagonists fights man vs. fate conflict because in “The Most Dangerous Game” it states that “The general sucked in his breath and smiled.’I congratulate you.’ You have won the game’”(46).
