Romeo and Juliet is a plat set in Verona, which is about two young, star-crossed lovers, whose love was immediately destined for destruction and tragedy. This ending was anticipated, particularly due to the conflict conveyed between the two feuding families-the Montague’s and the Capulet’s. Due to this, it is undeniable that the theme of hate, conflict and fate are significant in the play as the plot is partially driven by these key ideas. However, the strong and overpowering theme of love is a factors which overrides and has the ability to manipulate the outcomes and events within the play.
‘The Balcony Scene’ (Act 2, Scene 2) and ‘A hall in Capulet’s mansion’ (Act 1, Scene 5) are two important scene’s, which both play a pivotal part throughout the play, as it is when Romeo and Juliet first meet and are able to express each

During this quote, the Prince is scolding the families, for the way in which their feuding has caused problems for everyone; in doing so, he uses an oxymoron and personification. The Prince refers to the death of Romeo and Juliet as punishment for their hate. However, the Prince says this without resailing that Romeo and Juliet’s love was so passionate, that it demanded that they die and in doing so, they unified their families.
In the end, it is inevitable that love conquers all. The two families were able to reconcile over a shared loss, rather than moral or societal pressure. The love that Romeo and Juliet had for each other was endless and strong, this was demonstrated when they both killed themselves to be with each other, in death. Therefore, it is undeniable that due to the events within the play, that Romeo and Juliet is more about love, than it is about hate, conflict or fate. After all, it was their forbidden love, which had a forever lasting impact on their
Romeo and Juliet first met each other at a party at the Capulets house. They fall in love with each other at the first sight without knowing that they are from families who hate each other, and when they do learn about it, it is too late. Juliet realizes that it was a mistake to fall in love with Romeo, because he is one of the people she should watch out for. He is her first and only love, but he is an enemy of her family. Lucky for Romeo, Juliet is smart, and such dumb thing as hate between their parents wouldn't stop her from loving Romeo and getting married with him. She is sorry that their families are enemies, though, because everything would be much easier if they weren't. So this is the first time when the hate between Capulets and Montagues becomes problem to Romeo and Juliets happiness. Only after their children die, the Montagues and Capulets come to their senses. The Prince accuses them of killing Romeo and Juliet. The Prince makes them see how wrong they were all the time, that all because of their hate, because they couldn't let their children love each other, Romeo and Juliet died. After that, Capulets and Montagues decide to call it quits. No more fighting, and Montague even says that he will make a gold statue of Juliet, but what is that going to do? It is too late, nothing will bring them back. It is totally Capulets' and Montagues' fault that Romeo and Juliet died. If they didn't hate each other so much,
In conclusion, the parents’ of Romeo and Juliet were at fault for the death of their children. The lovers wouldn’t have had to hide their love if they weren’t afraid of their parents’. Both Romeo and Juliet’s parents’ grudge and selfishness hurt their children. These 2 lovers had a future, but old grudges and pure hate ended it before it
“Love is stronger than death even though it cannot stop death from happening, but no matter how hard death tries, it cannot separate anybody from love” (Cousins). William Shakespeare wrote The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. This story tells about how Romeo and Juliet, from two feuding families, fall in love. Unfortunately, their love for each other led to the untimely end of both of their lives. While Romeo and Juliet physically committed the acts that ended their own lives, fate and the long-standing family feud should be blamed for their deaths.
Shakespeare manifests the final scene of Romeo and Juliet to illustrate how love triumphs over the terror of death and depicts how the Capulet and Montague parents’ mutual love for their children dismisses the ancient feud. The protagonists, Romeo and Juliet’s preference of being killed rather than “death be prorogued, wanting thy love” (Page 91; Act 2, Scene 2), indicates they would rather die than death be delayed without the fulfilment of each other’s love. Romeo commits suicide as he is unaware that Juliet’s death is fiction, which results in Juliet finding his corpse when she awakens and stabs herself as they both do not wish to live with the absence of each other’s love. Again, Shakespeare portrays that love conquers the most feared prospect of life:
In Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet the lovers are being kept apart by the hate their families share. While Juliet is on her balcony, she starts to express her frustration by saying “O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name, Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, And I’ll no longer be a Capulet”(II,ii,36-39). Juliet’s feelings are all over about Romeo and why Romeo has to be the son of her family's enemy and why she loves him. Even though Romeo is the son of her family’s enemy, she is still in love with him, she displays her love for him when she considers disowning her family to be with him. The love one has for somebody has to be so compelling in order to think about leaving their own family for that person. The two lovers soon decide if they cannot be together and live they will die together “A pair of star-cross’d lovers take their life” (Prologue,6).
Once love is found, any obstacle presented will neither diminish nor terminate that love, even when tragedy strikes with the loss of a loved one. Tybalt, the cousin of Juliet is one of the Capulet’s that despises the Montague’s and he will do anything in his power to kill them all, and once he confronted Romeo, he met his fate and died by Romeo’s sword. The Prince arrived to the scene and said “Romeo slew him, he slew Mercutio” (III.i.181), him referring to Tybalt, and once realized, he banished Romeo out of the city. Once Juliet discovered the truth about Tybalt’s death and Romeo’s banishment she said in grief “Romeo is banished- to speak that word is father, mother, Tybalt, Romeo, Juliet, all slain, all dead- Romeo is banished” (III.ii.122-124). Her heartache for Romeo’s banishment more than her cousin Tybalt’s death shows that he is her life, her world, and her breath, and without him she would be nothing and life as she knows is would end, even through tragedy and anguish.
A society’s beliefs are often shown through its stories. Beliefs about love are no exception. While not a modern or American tale, William Shakespeare’s play Romeo & Juliet is an outstanding example, as its messages about love are deeply ingrained in both American culture and storytelling. In fact, some have even called it the most iconic love story of all time. But is that a good thing?
A play named Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, introduces us to a romantic tragedy about two infatuated lovers that are unable to reach each other’s love. The two lovers are appropriately named Romeo, a Montague, and Juliet, a Capulet. Their families, Montague and Capulet are at a feud and this troublesome quarrel makes their attraction towards each other a forbidden love. However, this barrier does not break off their connection and instead they fiercely chase after each other while problems arise that keep them apart. As they desperately try to cling on their love interest, the audience are able to conceive themes in regards to their decisions.
Because if the two families can be friendly by each other, that Romeo Juliet can have a good love ,doesn`t need to clandestine marriage or love .Because two families refused to give ground, leads to hate so deep, that Romeo and Juliet cannot aboveboard fall in love ,to make the ending so imserable.
Romeo and Juliet learn to put anything after their love, because love for these two was always put before anything. Love in this story makes a lot of feud between both Romeo’s family and Juliet’s family, but their family’s feud didn’t stop them from loving each other. At the end of the story Romeo and Juliet's love for each other is what stops their families hate and feud towards each other.
Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet portrays themes pertaining to love. The main conflict is caused by opposing families– the Capulets and Montagues. The prologue shows that the conflict is derived “from ancient grudge where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.” The family is described as having an aging, long conflict, most likely losing its integrity and purpose, which suggests that the conflict should be resolved. By the end of this prologue, Shakespeare foreshadows Romeo and Juliet’s death and proceeds by saying, “their children’s end… doth with their death bury their parents' strife.”
It is sad to think that Romeo and Juliet could have lived if the families did not hate each other. Although, the families resolve their differences in the end of the play, it was too late to save the duo. The young lovers died, but possibly not in vain. In the final closing of the play, the Prince expresses, “See what a scourge is laid upon your hate. That heaven finds a means to kill your joys with love... All are punished” ( V.iii.292-293). He reminds the families that Heaven or God has now had to intervene and give them real consequences that will make them consider changing their behaviors. Verona is left in despair, but also in hope to become peaceful and not have something this destructive happen ever
Love is just a word, until someone comes along and gives it a meaning. But what meaning they give the word is up to them .there are many different types of love in this world. Love comes in many different ways and they are not always pleasant. Love can make you happy or sad it depends on the way it comes to you. Love is tricky and can be confused with all of the different types of love. Love isn’t just one thing there is many different ways to show in and have it. In this play by Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet the word love is shown in many different ways. There is the love that Romeo and Juliet fell in which you can actually put into many different types of love. Then the way Romeo loved Rosaline is another way. And the way the nurse cared for Juliet is yet another type of love shown. In William Shakespeare’s play The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, these types of love are romantic, unrequited, and parental.
In modern society, love is thought of as a tender sentiment that stems from a passionate, mutual attraction between people. Oftentimes, movies, books, and other types of similar media depict a representation of love that fails to acknowledge the physical aspect of it by concentrating more on emotional connections. In Shakespearean literature, many times used as educational material, love is more often portrayed as an everlasting emotional connection and union between two people. The physical aspect of love is embedded in a more subliminal message because of its risque nature. For example, Romeo and Juliet, written by Shakespeare focuses more on romantic love, in which Romeo is “ready stand/To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss” (“Quotable Quote”). The benevolent and sentimental aspects are love are highlighted by emphasizing more the tenderness of the kiss, than the actual kiss. This is accomplished by the airiness of words like “smooth,” and “tender” (“Quotable Quote”). The tenderness of love that is often associated with Shakespearean literature, and seen throughout the current pop culture, is what oftentimes is viewed as love. The failure to acknowledge a more physical aspect of love is in part because it highlights human need and desire, which is often negatively viewed as lust or infatuation. Seeking to deviate from societal norms, in part III of ‘Bright Dead Things,” Ada Limon broadens love’s definition to include the physical aspects of it by accentuating its
