Romeo and Juliet is a plat set in Verona, which is about two young, star-crossed lovers, whose love was immediately destined for destruction and tragedy. This ending was anticipated, particularly due to the conflict conveyed between the two feuding families-the Montague’s and the Capulet’s. Due to this, it is undeniable that the theme of hate, conflict and fate are significant in the play as the plot is partially driven by these key ideas. However, the strong and overpowering theme of love is a factors which overrides and has the ability to manipulate the outcomes and events within the play.

During this quote, the Prince is scolding the families, for the way in which their feuding has caused problems for everyone; in doing so, he uses an oxymoron and personification. The Prince refers to the death of Romeo and Juliet as punishment for their hate. However, the Prince says this without resailing that Romeo and Juliet’s love was so passionate, that it demanded that they die and in doing so, they unified their families.

In the end, it is inevitable that love conquers all. The two families were able to reconcile over a shared loss, rather than moral or societal pressure. The love that Romeo and Juliet had for each other was endless and strong, this was demonstrated when they both killed themselves to be with each other, in death. Therefore, it is undeniable that due to the events within the play, that Romeo and Juliet is more about love, than it is about hate, conflict or fate.
