2. Impact of MTR Stations
Each district is different in terms of their physical settings, environment and population. Due to the different urban context, MTR stations have different impacts on the community of those districts. However there are some general and common benefits that it brings to the community, especially in terms of economy and the urban upgrading of districts.
2.1. Economy
It is an undeniable fact that MTR enhances the productive potential of the economy. It does not only allow the public to make cross-boundary trips, such as from Kowloon side to Hong Kong Island side, but also helps alleviate congestion on the ground due to higher demand for railway. It also improves the accessibility for people to reach their work on time easily, raising their productivity. One of the notable economic benefits is saving traveling time. During peak hours, the traffic congestion problem from Hung Hom to Yau Ma Tei is unbearable, causing delays and making people late for work. Besides, waiting in traffic consumes more fuel, which costs individuals higher fuel consumption cost. Hence MTR can help alleviate these problems and thus benefit the economy.
Moreover,

The construction of MTR stations attracts other developers into developing various projects, such as residential estates, commercial projects and community facilities, due to an easy access to the area with the development of MTR. For instance, the International Financial Centers (IFC) right above the central station. The development of such projects not only helps upgrade the city’s landscape by increasing aesthetic value through the architectural designs of those projects, such as the IFC which also rose to international fame due to its height, but it also enhance the quality of living as commercial buildings usually have malls for leisure and increased products and services, making their living more
Improving transit will reduce commute time and amount of cars on the road. Toronto is ranked 47th worst traffic in the world. This means that Toronto has a real traffic problem. We must improve the system. This means, having better bus routes and more buses, more subway lines. Toronto currently has only 4 subway lines. This is nothing compared to New York with 34 lines. If our transit
Transit time is an important element as well. Any reduction in transit time therefore reduces the overall cost of the delivered goods. Transit times can be improved by
As a student coming from Vaughan to Union it takes the train every 30 mins to come to the Vaughan. Having less transportation causes inconvenience which draws to another issue when it comes to waiting for a bus for twenty minutes. For a change, we should have trains and buses come frequently in times of ‘rush hours’ at popular destinations. It saves people valuable time and they can get home earlier to their family. The government should upgrade their system for express transportation for those individuals who live far, from Union to Barrie or Union to Brampton. It takes about 2 hours with few stops in between. Having an upgrade system on express trains will benefit because 2 hours can be reduced to an hour or 30 minutes train ride. It will make people want to go to trains because it saves their time. They don’t need to use their car as a result it helps lessens the traffic for buses and have greater improvement opportunities to meet the desired areas foe
Public transportation provides numerous positive attributes to the community at large. It enhances personal opportunities by providing personal mobility and freedom, gives people transportation options to get to work, go to school, visit friends, or go to a doctor’s office, provides access to job opportunities. It saves fuel and reduces congestion, provides economic opportunities and drives community growth and revitalization. Statistically, every $1 invested in public transportation generates approximately $4 in economic returns, every $10 million in capital investment in public transportation yields $30 million in increased business sales, every $10 million in operating investment yields $32 million in increased business sales, and from 2006-2011, residential property values performed 42 percent better on average if they were located near public transportation with high-frequency service. Public transportation saves money and reduces gasoline consumption. According to APTA’s transit saving report, a two-person household can save, on the average, more than $10,174 a year by downsizing to one car. Public transportation use in the United States saves 4.2 billion gallons of gasoline annually and households near public transit drive an average of 4,400 fewer miles than households with no access to public transit. Public transportation also reduces the carbon footprint in that its use
The Barisi Village project aims to establish a multipurpose living area designated for both residential and commercial uses. It employs the European-inspired concept of urban village characterized by mixed use zoning, public transit and public space. In specific, Barisi Village will replace the abandoned golf course and the vacant land next to Pharaoh Valley with a Portofino-styled estate, including shareable parking, tennis courts, nine-hole golf course, green space and extended lake. The multimillion dollar project is presently pursued by Blackard Global. Nevertheless, its construction has been postponed due to the escalating tensions, and rising concerns among the nearby neighbors. According to the recently passed law, the Barisi Village
This assignment will be based on Finch West Light Rail Transit (LRT). It is located in Toronto Ontario. The project will be finished in 2021. This LRT was made for residence dwellings and Humber College. The LRT distance is 11km long that would be on Finch West.
The firm can benefit from the California high spend rail (HSR). The HSR will result in economically growth and he environment will be healthier for the citizens of California. The conclusion is based on research from the HSR website, newspaper, and mazarines articles.
I believe that, it should be considered carefully, so that tax payers’ dollars aren’t wasted. Also, the disruption of the beauty of the downtown area would be avoided. I do believe that serious thought should be given to the implementation of the LRT route. All of the pros and cons of the LRT should be discussed and they should examine if it’s beneficial to build or not to build.
Railroads can be used human passenger traffic, or the transportation of freight and shipments from one destination to another due to the fact that “trains are four times more fuel efficient than trucks” (Association of American Railroads [AAR], 2015), and the fact that railroads also “reduce highway gridlock, lower greenhouse gas emissions, reduce pollution” (AAR, 2015). In fact railroad transportation according to United States Department of Transportation’s Federal Railroad Administration, “rail network accounts for approximately 40 percent of U.S. freight moves by ton-miles (the length freight travels)” (Federal Railroad Administration, 2010). With the reliance on railroads to transport freight and shipments from one place to another also
Centers of transportation tend to be popular spots for business. A popular phrase used by the Hyperloop team is, “When cities become metro stops, regions will flourish.” Since businesses would have quick and easy access to the rest of the nation, they would be able to buy/sell products and services easily with anyone in the nation. This will encourage many businesses to move to Delphos creating a large amount of jobs for people in the area. Also, with a large amount of businesses, the people of Delphos will have an increase in their income due to businesses competing for skilled workers in the area. Not only will the station help new business and factories, it will also help the many farmers sell their crops to new markets across the nation. When a break from work is needed, anyone who can afford a bus ticket can get on the Hyperloop and be almost anywhere in the nation within hours.
The more modern life, the higher traveling. One country cannot develop without traveling. Thus, governments should give more money, and policies to improve the quality of streets, roads, highways and besides, governments have to increase more public transportation such as buses, trains, subways.. to service the needs of traveling.
The tenant structure of the shopping center is an important factor in ensuring rent is adequate to make the project viable. The fact that Philipp conceded the hypermarket could have a negative effect on the overriding success of the project. ECE strategy typically relied on these large self-service retail stores. Hypermarkets are very desirable to customers since the warehouse structure enable the stores to offer a wide variety of products (i.e. fresh food, beverages, home supplies, electronics, clothing, car accessories, garden furniture etc.) at discounted prices. This lack of a hypermarket must be offset by assurance and
DIF has some issues with the economic efficiency. DIF is a charge for new development only for the benefits which they received from the existence of public transit to help the government recover a portion of the costs. Although, developers can see the economic impacts of public transit system, but in sometimes
Tourism will be the major money catcher on the lake and riverside areas. Tourists will be attracted to the city’s beauty and fun activities (see aesthetics). Although tourism brings in a lot of money, small animal and vegetable farms will be maintained, providing the city with some of its food portion. Gardens will also be kept at most of the homes. Not much food will be transported into the city. The city will try to be the most independent possible. Building will use the solar heat method for water and space heating on those rare occasions when necessary.
But today, cities are also place of production, consumption and distribution, due to which the focus of transport system has also got redefined.
