Adam Hogue, in his article “Why Do Americans Love Superheroes So Much?,” discusses the reasons behind the popularity of the superheroes. Hogue’s purpose is to instill the idea that superheroes are popular due to their static personalities. First, he illustrates his opinion with his anecdote about Captain America: “Sure, there were some slightly different nuances here and there, but for the most part, he was the same man…The superhero is someone we deeply trust” (para 9). Here the author describes how his personal attachment to Captain America was due to his unchanging personality and how the Captain “wasn’t going to be dead forever” (para 9). Not only this, Hogue demonstrates his ideas by using Spiderman as an example: “With
When it comes to reading comics, it takes patience and understanding. Since this was my first time reading a true comic book, I have a new appreciation for comic books. With the reading of Scott McCloud’s, Understanding Comics, there are many elements that go into making a comic book a true comic. Applying the teaching of color that McCloud taught in his book to the comic, Batman: Year One, the color scheme that is used in certain panels help bring the story off the page and is another form of emotions being expressed.

I love comics, especially superhero comics. I have been in love with them since I was seven, when my uncle introduced me to Superman and Batman. I was just so mesmerized by the plot, even if it was repetitive, I was so intrigued that I couldn’t stop. You know the plot, the one where a victim or victims are distressed and the hero swoops in at the right time to save them from any danger. Growing up though, as life got more complicated, so did comics. It wasn’t the same old plot anymore. More casualties occurred in the stories, heroes developed more weaknesses. It was as if the comic book creators were trying to make the readers realize that superheroes and an regular person are not so far apart. I will never be able to see it that way though. Why you ask? It’s because unlike a regular person, superheroes will never be a reality. No one will swoop in to save you in your time of need. The only person that can protect you, is yourself. If you are able to do that, maybe the next step is to protect people that can’t protect themselves.
Honestly they should be banned for children 10 or under so they don't have to find out that sort of stuff at that early of a age but it is mostly up their parents to decide what they read to and at their age group to decide how they have to handle for the parents all tho that would trigger an early puberty among their kids and children
Growing up I was never a big fan of reading, but as I got older I noticed books are very essential. They are filled with adventures and lessons that only exist in wildest imagination. Without books many of us wouldn't know half the things we know today. Books teaches us math , science, history ,and even how to use a computer or how to play a sport. With so many different genres to choose from and millions of books to read , the task of reading can never get boring, especially when you're actively reading
If you start to read graphic novels itll make you enjoy reading more and reading more decreases stress levels and mental simulation. Reading graphic novels also gives you a better sense of sequence in your writing. It also boosts your confidence therefore reading graphic novels are as beneficial as novels.
In middle school, I read thicker books; pictures were still in the reading because it was comic books. I didn’t not read the American types of comic like the super hero stories. Instead, my interest was drawn to the Japanese Manga (anime). I used to read “Doraemon”, “Conan”, “Sailor Moon” etc.; these books are in the fantasy and mystery genre. For example, in “Doraemon”, the story of a machine cat named Doraemon, who came from the future to the present. He has a pocket with a lot of magic items that a normal person cannot do such as fly and a time machine. There is a lot adventure in the series that grab my attention to continue reading, including the pictures is a part of the story. I also like mystery and solving books like in the manga “Conan”. It contains a new story line that I have not
A way to make reading more fun is to learn about the book genres before reading them. For example, legends are stories based on history. The facts and adventure of the protagonist are exaggerated (“Book Genres”). This shows the details about the genre, which can help the reader understand the stories
“Reading is important, because if you can read, you can learn anything about everything and everything about anything.”, said Tomie DePaola. Some book may have thing in them that someone people may think that it is not appropriate for some kids. Books and novels teach important lessons to kids even if they might have some bad content. Kids are able to access the internet wherever they go and they could be exposed to many things that are far worse than bad words written on a page. When someone reads a book they might not be appropriate, like they might be too depressing or too sexual but if you look at the main points of the book and really look and understand what they are trying to say you see that at the end they always have a lesson and
The comic books of the Star Wars Expanded Universe, like the novel and video game mediums, were also choc full of excellent story telling. The comics have the added advantage of showing us visual depictions of characters, places and other things we may have only seen in our mind's eye when reading the novels.
According to Dr.Seuss, “The more that you read, The more things you will know. The more that you learn, The more places you’ll go”. I was about seventeen years old, watching my little cousin “Autumn” , while my aunt was in the hospital. Every chance I get I would read a Dr.Seuss book to Autumn, because reading kept her quiet or either put her to sleep. Reading to your child at an early age, As a child, I was introduced to books that competition my interest, hobbies and had plenty of sources to receive books. “How to make your child want to read? Encourage your child to read, by raising your child to love to read.”
Ever thought how dumb comic books or graphic novels were growing up? Why such avid readers were called (myself included) nerds? Yet were smarter than you? Think back to how geeky their way of speaking was and they touched on such complexities even for a book! Shortly, reasoning will tell you why comic books are the best. Over the years, from the 20th to 21st century, research and documentation has been stacking up to prove that comic books make their readers smarter. Comics make you want to read, and they use complex language which progresses verbal intelligence. Like steroids for the mind, comics can take struggling readers and make them stronger!
My reading experiences have always been enjoyable. I love to read when I find an interesting book. It’s easy for me to be sucked into a book if the story catches my eye. I mostly like to read teen romance novels. They appeal to me simply because of my interest in a love story. My parents hate buying me books because they know I’ll be finished reading within a week or so. Reading has always been really easy to me. It seems almost natural to be sucked into other worlds. The words start to flow over the pages and suddenly it feels like I’m not even reading anymore. Unless I have to read a book for school or it doesn’t catch my attention, I might have a hard time bringing myself to read it.
From an early age I loved to read. At just two years old I would beg my mother to enroll me into school. I watched as my older sister meticulously picked out her outfit each night in preparation for the next school day. At such a young age I somehow knew that this thing called “school” was the answer to something spectacular. My home was chaotic and reading became an escape and helped distract me from the unpleasant family dynamic.
