Have you ever wanted someone who is fast? Who can be an Olympic gold medalist? Who loves to run? Well, Hermes is your guy. Hermes loves sports and loves to win. He may be late to practice because he is stealing but he is great. So what are you waiting for? One important reason that Hermes is ready to be a sprinter is that he has shown that he can run fast. Hermes practices running a lot by delivering messages to other people. “He primarily served as the herald or messenger of the gods” (Greek and Goddess 6). Like I said before Hermes would deliver messages to other gods about news on a scroll. A scroll is a roll of paper that you write on like he did or paint on it. Another important reason why Hermes would be a great sprinter is that
Their determination, a great athlete will have to work their hardest. Depending on the sport they will need the strength, speed, and stamina to run longer than anyone
Homer’s story, The Odysseus revolves around Odysseus’s journey through many tribulations that he has to overcome. Odysseus, the main character faces many challenges in the battles at Troy and in the attempt to trace his way home to Ithaca. Odysseus is a hero is this story for numerous reasons. One of the major reasons is his escape, triumph over the trials he experiences and the way he maintains composure in the wake of tribulations such as his descent to the land of the dead, captivity, subjection to multiple marriage propositions, defying death, escaping the god’s wrath and the offer of immortality.
- Hermes: also known as “Hermes of the golden wand” or “the giant killer” is the messenger and son of the god Zeus. He was sent by Zues to inform Calypso of Zeus’s order to free Odysseus.
That day he won four events, set three world records, and he tied a fourth record all in forty-five minutes. He tied the world record by running the one hundred yard dash in nine point four-seconds. He then broke a world record by jumping twenty-six feet eight and one quarter inches in the long jump. Later, he finished the two hundred twenty yard dash in twenty point three-seconds for another world record. That same day, he broke a third world record by finishing the two hundred twenty yard low hurdle race in twenty-two point six seconds.(Shwartz 1) He was so outstanding at track and field, that during his junior year of college he won every single one of the forty-two events in which he competed. Three of those events were Olympic trials for the 1936 Olympics (“About Jesse Owens” 3) guarantying that he would be going to Berlin to compete for a medal.
I used to be able to run so fast I could fly. Racing through the woods behind my house I was untouchable, unbeatable; I imagined I was a graceful as a fox and as fast as a deer racing over bushes, logs, and ditches. Running served as an escape from the perfect student, perfect manners persona I adopted in the classroom allowing me to break out of my shy shell and go from being ¨the teacher’s pet¨ to ¨the fast girl.¨ My love of running-- as well as my parents-- drove me to play soccer; I ditched my goody two shoes for cleats and never looked back. I could chase down any opponent and outrun any defender, through sports I completely let my boundaries down.
As one of the many sons of Zeus, the famous, legendary god of gods, Hermes has been rather ignored, mostly because he is one of the very youngest Olympians. He is extremely qualified to win God Of The Year. After all, he does all of the dirty work for the gods! He is the messenger, the traveler, the most valuable yet overlooked god. Hermes is the messenger of the gods; a position given to him by his father. Even though he may have the winged shoes and helmet along with his very own wings that make him look a little bit funny, you shouldn’t mess with this guy. He once stole Apollo’s herd of cattle. Yes, he is also the god of many more things such as thieves, boundaries, travelers, and he is considered to be one of the smartest gods! Hermes has
Hermes was a god of fertility in Greek Mythology. He was especially concerned with the sheep and goats raised by his principal worshippers, the people in Arcadia, Southern Greece. In ancient poetry, Hermes functioned as a messenger of the gods. Hermes was also a guide for souls to the underworld and for travelers. Also, he was a protector of boundaries; a helper of heralds, speakers, traders, and thieves; and a bringer of good or unexpected luck.
Chuck Norris once said “I’ve always found that anything worth achieving will always have obstacles in the way”. I agree, and, for me, I will continue to reach my goal no matter what tries to stop me. Like Odysseus, I will face challenges on the journey of becoming pharmacist such as paying for college tuition, overcoming my distance from my family, and adjusting to my surroundings.

Track will increase speed, endurance, and agility. Speed, agility, and endurance are used in baseball, football, and basketball. All these sports are jointed together with track for cardio. I’m not for all the running and training that is included in becoming an outstanding athlete, but I pushed myself into going through the training.
Everyone knows about superheroes and everyone has a favorite if it begin superman or batman. Not all heroes have to be superheroes many people have heroes in their life too. Heroes could be anybody in someone’s life that helps them a for example many people's heroes are their parents because they help them in their life. The difference between a superhero and a hero is that heroes are normal people just trying to help while superheroes are just a made up character in a book or movie. Everybody makes mistakes we are all human but the difference between a normal person and a hero is that when a hero makes a mistake they work to fix it or overcome the problem.
when the Persia’s fleets of 20,000 soldiers and their top generals sailed across the Aegean Sea to reach the plain of Marathon, north of Athens. As a result, the Athenians sent Philippides, the fastest runner, “who ran approximately 150 miles in two days to request the help of the Spartans.” However, the Spartans insisted on “celebrating the religious festival of Artemis-Carneia” before going into battle. After the Athenians received the dreadful news, the Athenian general named Miltiades and his outnumbered Athenian soldiers marched to the top of the hills of the Marathon. The Athenian soldiers and Miltiades charged down the hills in unison using the hoplite technique as they smashed into the lightly armed Persian’s defense lines and they strengthened their two wings as they pushed the Persian’s soldiers around and back into the sea. Most of the Persian’s soldiers were either killed in battle or drowned in the sea, but some of Persian soldiers escaped back to their ships. The Athenian soldiers who fought heroically to try to climb over the side of the Persian’s ships were praised and honored for their amputated right hand when they returned home to Athens.
Hermes, the son of Zeus and Maia, was born in a cave atop mount Cyllene in Arcadia. A myth tells that after his birth, Hermes snuck out and stole Apollo’s herd. This shows how sneaky Hermes can be and his impulse to steal. “To keep from being discovered by the tracks, he put boots on their feet and led them to Pylos” (HERMES GOD ΕΡΜΗΣ). Cunning Hermes proceeded with his stolen cattle and Apollo went to search for them.
I was a late-comer to athletics. So when the distance coach recruited me in tenth grade, it was a pleasant surprise to be half decent. I was deemed the most improved cross country runner in the nation, dropping six minutes for a 4K, landing me in my first state race. I have since been a contributing part of my varsity team. I have been All-Conference and All-Section for the past three years. This past year, my cross country team won state and nationals. I, myself, was runner-up in the team division at nationals. In Track and Field, I also competed at state. Running has become a huge part of my life, teaching me many lessons, especially that there is always room for
In the 100-meter dash there were twelve preliminary rounds, which were all to be ran the first day of competition. In order to advance from there the top two runners of each race will go on to the semi-final. Owens's was scheduled to run in the last round, which was good for him because it let him see what he would have to race against if he made it to the finals. Jesse Owens didn't have to worry much about opposing team members very much with his speed.
