Reading is not just a fun and great pastime, it is a great way to make your mind explore the great unknown, push boundaries and survey what surrounds you. According to Josep Dalmau, MD, PhD, he did a study on life-span cognitive activity, neuropathology burden, and cognitive aging which reading helps your brain activate. With other proven facts that reading does help the brain to stay sharp and can even go as far as to say it can prevent Alzheimer’s its no wonder that I fight for the knowledge so everyone understand the importance of reading a good book. As once said “So avoid using the world ‘very’ because it’s lazy. A man is not very tired, he is exhausted. Don’t use very sad, use morose. Language was invented for one reason, boys – to woo woman- and, in that endeavor, laziness will not do.” Not just does the topic help a couple communicate but teacher each other to use more dynamic words to woo the other. Reading is just another way to be able to learn more words and how they are used so you can use them in your personal life. Most people though don’t read books a lot even if they have been proven to be helpful. My mother says that she does not read a lot of books because it takes too long and she’s not that fast at it. In truth reading a book does take time and unlike movies you have to imagine what everything looks like. For some this is just too much to be able to do so they go back to watching movies without ever trying to push the limits on their mind. Reading is something that takes time and not everyone has the patients for it but for those that do it is quite rewarding. Reading a good book is a great idea to think about the next time you have time and need to distress from the day-to-day problems. A good book can help you to understand others at a deeper level without actually asking them any questions. You might relate to them because of a

Research indicates that reading leads to better comprehension of daily tasks. This was shown in the Emory University studies, as they studied the effects of reading on the brain the neurologists also noticed increased understanding. Being able to better understand how to complete common tasks leads to better judgement. These new skills can increase a person’s functional ability which can improve the chances of you getting into a career. The University of Buffalo conducted a study that showed how reading can increase a person’s empathy levels, leading to them being more considerate to others feelings. Reading books teaches people very important lessons and morals in life. They found that this was because when a person reads, they are thinking in the perspective of the character’s point of view and overcoming many obstacles. The stories within the books also contain many morals that are taught to the reader. Since the reader is usually deeply invested in the book’s story, maybe because it’s relatable, the lesson will imprint on them strongly. Reading teaches a person many different skills and lessons that can be applied to normal life, and improve
Growing up I was never a big fan of reading, but as I got older I noticed books are very essential. They are filled with adventures and lessons that only exist in wildest imagination. Without books many of us wouldn't know half the things we know today. Books teaches us math , science, history ,and even how to use a computer or how to play a sport. With so many different genres to choose from and millions of books to read , the task of reading can never get boring, especially when you're actively reading
There is a beauty in books. Each book opens up your mind to a world unknown. Each page of a book makes you think to yourself "what's going to happen next?". Books give you thoughts and opinions. Books teach you things you never knew. They allow you to escape reality and enter someone else's world. Books
While I believe reading is an extraordinary task that allows passage into worlds outside one’s mindset, can there not be danger in it as well? Books hold so much power and knowledge within them that they have the ability to render our minds incapable of processing thoughts. There is also the risk of someone who mentally is not all there getting violent ideas, paranoia, and submerging themselves too far into the story line. Because of all of the potential threats caused by reading, it being good for your health is debatable.
Even if you don’t like to read it’s important to know how, and to possibly even find a book you do enjoy. I strongly agree with the saying that there is a book for everyone because I truly think there is. Literary reading can show you how different people can think and their perspectives on certain things. It gives you knowledge on other people and things you didn’t even know about but do now. It informs you on topics and past
I want to discover why it is good. When I read, I am able to embark on a personal journey. It helps me control my levels of stress and it brings me happiness. With To Kill a Mockingbird, I, a lover of books of all shapes and sizes, would grow frustrated and frankly, bored, whenever I was assigned to read it. I craved for the opportunity to share out my thoughts and feelings about the book but was unable to. Instead of growing as an intellectual, I became preoccupied with remembering character’s names and certain events in the book so I could pass the next quiz.
We all know reading is boring, time consuming, and compulsory. All though, most kids would agree with that statement, some may disagree. Some can say that if one does not read they can lose knowledge and become less smart. If you don't read there can be consequences for stopping. Reading is valuable because it gives readers the power to escape, to maximize their potential, and to strengthen their mind.
In the article “Reading Literature makes us Smarter and Nicer” written by Annie Murphy Paul discusses many different opinions about the effects that reading has on you as a person. For example some psychologist are saying that reading does improve your mind and ability to comprehend things, and it also will improve your behavior, moods.
Reading is something that is taught to everyone in their early childhood, the time I learned to read I was very fond of books. I loved to read novels to myself and to read them out loud to my sister. I like reading action, thriller, historical fiction, and mystery. During my early childhood we would have challenges of reading such as wrapped up and reading, golden dragon. These were reading challenges for students to read 20-25 specific grade novels during the school year and at the end you got a party if you read at least 5-10. I used to love reading and at that time I would read at least 20 books because I wanted to go to the party and win something with the lottery tickets I got. My childhood was fulI of reading, even if I read because I was greedy and I read because of the party, it still improved my reading level. As I grew and grew my reading
Many people read for fun but they are also learning while doing it. They are learning new words and expanding their vocabulary. Learning is a necessity in life and people learn the most by reading. Reading is one of the most beneficial activities a man can do. Out of reading, man can be able to discover new things, concepts, places and people. More so, reading is a way to relax our mind and soul, going deeply through the world of story and improves our thinking and internalization process.

Reading has at all times and in all ages been a source of knowledge, of happiness, of pleasure and even moral courage. In today's world with so much more to know and to learn and also the need for a conscious effort to conquer the divisive forces, the importance of reading has increased. In the olden days if reading was not cultivated or encouraged, there was a substitute for it in the religious sermon and in the oral tradition. The practice of telling stories at bed time compensated to some extent for the lack of reading. In the nineteenth century Victorian households used to get together for an hour or so in the evenings and listen to books being read aloud. But today we not only read, we also want to read more and more and catch up
