Is there any hope for the human race, every day that goes by some is harmed from another being. Whether the violence was intended or not, life still goes by. In the everyday life for those in Ender's Game, they were pretty much born into the hands of the government to fight the buggers. Taken at a young age those of Ender's Game was given no personality and were molded by the games of violence and training. In the early pages of Ender's Game, Peter was on top of Ender, while playing a game of Buggers and Astronauts. Peter loses his cool nearly killing Ender. “Ender could not speak; the breath was being forced from his lungs. Peter might mean it.” (12) Peters hatred for Ender goes out of control as Peter nearly suffocates his own brother. In …show more content…
A quote recorded shows how Ender risks himself to save a fellow squad member . “Ender had positioned himself so that when he launched he would rendezvous with that frozen soldier, he had just used as a missile. The boy wasn't frozen now, and he let Ender catch him, whirl him around and send him toward the door, unfortunately, the necessary result of the action was for Ender to head in the opposite direction, and at a reduced speed. Alone of all his soldiers, he was drifting fairly slowly, and at the end of the battle room where the older boys were gathered he shifted himself so he could see that all his soldiers were safely gathered at the far wall.” Ender shows what his squad members mean to him by sacrificing himself for the team. Not only did Ender sacrifice himself, but he proved himself as a leader to protect and serve his squad. Is there any hope for mankind? On a daily basis many people are harmed physically by others. It’s Obvious violence is an over occurring issue in Ender’s Game but does that stand for us? Indeed it does, but this can all be changed. We could be the dream generation that may fix violence and come together as
Ender has a lot to think about towards the end of the book. He had became a captain earlier then a lot of the other captains. Ender was a smart kid and his brother Peter was jealous of him because he got accepted to battle school. Ender also had a sister that was sweet and he loved her. Ender is kinda like both Peter and Valentine they kinda are the same in a way. Ender He killed a lot of people but he isn’t anything like peter. He also have a good heart but he’s also isn’t like valentine. He’s kinda mixed with both of them because he is violent but has a great heart.
2 major and reoccurring themes throughout Ender’s Game is manipulation and deception. Much of this novel is about how adults manipulate Ender into fulfilling their needs. They trick him, lie to him, and tell him just enough so that he can defeat the buggers. Ender pretty much sums this up when he says, “I've spent my life as someone's pawn" (Pg. 97). On one hand, it seems wrong to lie to and cheat a kid. On the other hand, the adults manipulate him to ensure the survival of the human race. Besides the manipulative relationship between the adults and Ender, there are a number of other relationships full of manipulation: Peter manipulates Valentine, Peter and Valentine manipulate the world, and
Throughout Ender’s Game, Ender has a constant inner battle between the wrong that he is forced to do and the good that he naturally possesses. Ender
Peter talks very seriously about how he could kill Ender by slowly crushing the air out
A huge part of the theme of Ender's Game is saying that life is just a game. This is proved by the concept that Ender has to succeed through different 'levels' of life in order to achieve what the battle school has set out for him-killing the buggers. This is proved by the quote,”-Because most boys in this school think the game is important for itself, but it isn't. Its only important, because it helps them find kids who might grow up to be real commanders.” This is the real point of the book in which Ender fully realizes that The Battle School is really just a game. The symbols of this main idea is the armies, friends, enemies, and leaders that Ender comes in contact with in the Battle School. All of the friends, enemies, armies, and leaders that Ender meet are all part of Ender
Ender does not want to be Peter, who was a cold-hearted killer. Ender was beginning to understand the buggers and find out their reasoning behind the war, but before he could fully understand, the I.F. made him defeat the buggers without even knowing. It also made Ender upset when he found out that he not only just killed one queen, he killed an entire colony and world of queens. Another situation that also upset Ender was when Ender killed Bonzo. Ender didn’t mean to hurt him, but he had to, for self-defense. “’Why should I want to beat anybody?’ Ender pressed his palms against his eyes. ‘I hurt Bonzo really bad today, Bean. I really hurt him… I knocked him out standing up. It was like he was dead, standing there. And I kept hurting him… I just wanted to make sure he never hurt me again’” (222). Although Ender disliked Bonzo, Ender loved him because when he truly understands his opponent to defeat them, he also cared for them. This not only disconcerted him, it made Ender despise the
What if the world had no violence? In the scientific novel Enders Game by Orson Scott Card, Ender trains for a "game" to fight against invaders. In this narrative, the main components include exposition, rising action, climax, and resolution in which Ender's journey goes through a beginning, middle, and end.
At home Ender's surroundings include his parents, his brother; Peter, and his sister; Valentine. Peter is obnoxious, rude, and an extremely violent character. His jealousy of Ender's superior intelligence often makes him bully Ender physically as well as psychologically torturing him ( telling him he is a third). Yet at the end of the day Peter just wants to be a leader and he
When Ender finds out that he killed a whole race he is angry and says “’I didn’t want to kill anybody! I’m not a killer!”’(297).Throughout his journey Ender thinks that he is a replica of Peter. This is one of the many instances where Ender feels his whole persona is being manipulated into a copy of Peter by leaders at Battle School. Once Ender recognizes that most of his choices have been influenced by commanders such as Colonel Graff he decides to make a decision of his own by finding the buggers a new home.
From his whole time in this stage, this event stood out the most to me. ‘”Stay there!’ he shouted at his friends, who obviously were forming up to come and rescue him” ( 115).It shows how Ender would react in these situations, and it seems very heroic to me. If his battleship was stranded in between a bunch of bugger ships he wouldn’t want his crew to come a rescue him when he knows they will die. He would rather die compared to the rest of his team dying.
In Ender’s Game, by Orson Scott Card, Ender Wiggin is compassionate, which enables him to connect with people, understand others, and repay his debt to the buggers. Ender is very compassionate since he understands others, even his enemies, like when he gets into fights with other people. For example, when Ender defeats the Giant in the game by scratching his eyes out, he realizes that he is “doing it again…[He’s] hurting other people again, just to save [himself]” (Card 115). The quote shows that Ender does not mean to hurt people like Stilson and Bernard. He just has to deal with them because that is what has to be done. He definitely regrets his actions and wishes that they would just leave him alone so that he would not have to hurt them. This shows
Ender Wiggin was unlike most of the children in his school. He was known as a "third", the third child in his family. He, like both his brother and sister, had a monitor in the back of his neck, so the military could see what they did. Ender had his longer than his siblings and because of this, Peter, his brother, hated him. He constantly threatened him and picked on him and at school, the kids verbally harassed him. He got so fed up with it that one day, he beat up the main bully, not stopping until he was lying on the floor, weeping and in his own blood. Ender didn't want to do it but in his mind, it needed to be done. Valentine, his sister, loved him, despite everyone else's opinions. She was constantly sticking up for him and
Ender is constantly thinks about turning out like Peter and he does not want to fall into Peter’s evil footsteps as he is heartless. There is no part of him that desires control, and when he has it, he wishes only to avoid the abuses that he sees others commit. But Ender learns that in life we are sometimes forced to play games that we would rather not play, and that sometimes winning must be second to nothing else. Still, he manages to retain his humanity and his compassion wins out in the end, as he sets out to repay his debt to the buggers. The government plays all sorts of schemes like manipulation to acquire success. The government manipulates Valentine, the students of the battle school and especially Ender (SparkNotes). The narrator says, “He toyed with the idea of trying to be like the other boys.” (Card 121). Most of Ender’s identity problems come from his worry that he’s a bully and a killer, like Peter.
At the beginning of the novel, Ender was a shy, lonely 6 year old. He was scared and unaware of what he was capable of doing. Ender didn’t realize how much power he had in his own hands. He was most afraid of his older brother Peter. He does not want to be anything like Peter.
Ender is six when he is taken to the battle school, and once he get there he is contently in simulation battle in the battle room or play games on his desk when he in the barrack. This is like in Carr’s essay where you are on the internet contently skimming article. He is competing in Battle with his team in the battle room at any time of day or night, and on his own desk computer playing a game when he is not fighting battle. . Ender is contently monitored without his knowledge in whatever he does. Ender is contently isolated from making friends with other children at the battle school. Every time he get close to someone on the army he commanded, Ender is transferred to another army where he know nobody. We he start try to make friends he is move again and again. This is done so he will concentrate all his energy on how to get better in each battle simulation that is develop by Colonel Graff and Mazer Reakham for Ender to compete in without Ender knowledge. As the battle get more and more difficult, like when Ender squid has to go up against two squids at the same time, but Ender always fines a way to win by figuring out the pattern in the Battles and using them to his advantage over his opponent. This isolation from
