Visiting us…
Mount Vernon is a church that loves worshipping together. Whether its Sunday mornings, at study Wednesdays, small groups, or special events throughout the year, we strive to provide powerful environments and experiences that allow us to come to Christ in worship.
Being our guest is a great way to get to know us! Make plans to visit us soon!
AT MOUNT VERNON HERE IS WHAT WE BELIEVE…
ABOUT THE BIBLE
We believe that Bible is the authoritative and inspired Word of God. It was written by men under supernatural guidance. They were inspired by God and therefore the Bible exists today without error. – 2 Timothy 3:16, Psalms 119:105, Proverbs 30:5
ABOUT GOD
We believe that God is the creator of the universe and is Triune in His nature—meaning that He is one in essence and has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. – Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; 1 Peter 1:2, Psalms 90:2
ABOUT THE FATHER
We believe in one God who exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. We believe that God is infinite, which does not always make sense to our finite understanding. God is not limited by time or space. God is creator, eternal, all-knowing, ever-present, and all-powerful. His character is multi-dimensional, but no facet of His character diminishes another. In other words, His grace and wrath, mercy and justice, love and jealousy all work together for good. – Psalm 103:19; 145:8-9; Romans 11:36; Ephesians 3:9
ABOUT JESUS
We believe that Jesus
The Trinity; There is only one true God, and He has eternally existed in three persons – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1: 26; 3:22; 11:7)
According to Genesis 1:1 (New Living Translation)”In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”. This states that God is the creator of the universe and all living things. Not only was he the creator of the Universe, but it is vital to have the knowledge that he was the sole creator in this act. By God being the sole creator this shows that he is a sovereign God (Diffey, 2015). The Trinitarian, also known as the Trinity, the understanding of God is a crucial part when it comes to the Christian worldview (Diffey, 2015). The doctrine of the Trinity refers to the Godhead- God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ who is fully God and fully man), and God the Holy Spirit- three persons, same substance, one God (Jesus Christ, 2015). Regarding the Trinity, God is the first person in the Trinity, which is the Godhead-God the
God loves his Church and Jesus is the one who builds the Church. Then, it goes without saying that God loves the local church and Jesus builds the local church. Unfortunately, there are many factors that come into play, causing churches to become complacent or stagnate before entering into a season of decline. Yet this can be avoided through the process of revitalization.
Throughout this semester I have learned many of the different christian doctrines. Many of them were challenged and also accepted in my weekend trip throughout Saint Louis. I think one of the most important topics that was discussed during my weekend was the consideration of the Trinity. In the Christian thought the word “trinity” is a term used to talk about the Christian doctrine that God exists as a unity of three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Three of the staple thoughts include; God is three person; each person is divine; there is only one God. In their relations to one another, they are stated to be on in all else, co-equal, co-eternal and consubstantial. With these three thoughts about the Trinity you also must remember that Christianity is a monotheistic religion.
I believe God and human authors wrote the bible. I believe the Holy Spirit is the divine co author (1Cor 13:14, Eph 3:4-5, 2 Peter 1:20-21). God: I believe that our minds cannot fully grasp the knowledge of God, which is incomprehensible. The reason for this understanding is that God is an infinite being while we are finite creatures created by God. Trinity: I believe that the word Trinity is a word that can help capture the Godhead. I believe the Trinity does not speak of three Gods, but the Godhead is one in essences who is three persons(Deut 6:4). Humanity: I believe that God created humans equal but with distinct roles as male and female (Gen 1:26-27) . I believe that we are not created by random or by accident or by some impersonal force. I believe it was out of Gods divine nature and love that he created us uniquely for his glory and joy.Sin: I believe that sin is real and it is a real and serious offense to the character of God, which is his moral law we see in scripture. This is why I believe that the bible to call sin lawlessness (1 John 3:4) and if anything is inconsistent with Gods character it is sin. The person & Work of Christ: I believe Jesus Christ was fully man and fully God ,and that Christ existed in eternity past before His birth as Jesus.I believe in the deity of Jesus as Him to be fully God while being fully human. Holy Spirit: I believe the Holy Spirit to be the third person of the Trinity. I believe he has always eternal existed and had a major role in the creation and redemptive plan of the Father. I believe the Holy Spirit regenerates and sanctifies man so that he/she can live a holy and Godly life Salvation: I believe that not all human beings are children of God but what scripture teaches us that by nature we are all children of wrath (Eph 2:3). I believe for us to be called a child of God there needs to
Trinity is one God. Each of the persons of the trinity, Father, Son, and Spirit “is God whole and entire”. I believe that the trinity of persons consists of one substance and one essence. Each of the persons is that supreme reality, the divine substance, essence or nature. Each of the three persons are distinct from one another, but known to be related to one another.
Human minds cannot fully understand the eternal nature of God, but the doctrine of the Trinity affirms that the God who was revealed in the economy, through the incarnation of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, is the same God who is eternal (Rae). Therefore, the God who is revealed in three manifestations is the God we all know of and there is not another Being that exists
Christ Tabernacle values Jesus, people, prayer, and the Holy Spirit. The institution believes in the Holy Bible, Trinity, and salvation. To connect with people, the CT uses Jesus as a message and the Holy Spirit as a guide. To connect with God and Jesus, the church utilizes prayer. Christ Tabernacle’s approach in worship is something modern and up-to-date. It incorporates new released songs to share the word of God. The institution does not rely on a traditional setting of a church to serve God and help people. Instead, the sermon is infused with live music and dancing that make the old members reconnect with God and the new members be comfortable in seeking Him and Jesus.
The Bible clearly speaks of God the Son, God the Father, and God the Holy Spirit, but insists that there is only ONE God. If we were to be mathematical about this we’d say 1 + 1 + 1 = 3 but no, it would be 1 x 1 x 1 = 1 because God is a triune. God is three people in one. The word trinity explains a lot about this. The word trinity has two origin words, “tri” meaning three and unity meaning one, thus makes the Trinity. Since the beginning we have never seen God as one identity, Jesus and the Holy Spirit have always been
4.God is triune. God is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit all wrapped into one.
Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit: one God in three persons. The three persons are distinct, yet one substance essence of nature. The Fourth Latern Council declares it is the Father who generates, the Son who is begotten, and the Holy Spirit who proceeds. Accordingly, the whole work of creation and grace is seen as a single operation common to all three divine persons, in which each shows forth what is proper to him in the Trinity, so that all things ae from the Father, through the Son and in the Holy Spirit. Included in the doctrine of the Trinity is a strict monotheism which is the teaching that there exists in all the universe a single being known as God who is
The UUCC has monthly worship themes which revolve around “core spiritual values” which are celebrated by the Unitarian Universalists faith. Every month they focus on one of these values, and as such, each is approached with the question “what does it mean to live a life of____?”. They focus on the deep commitment ensuring that its practice makes a difference within their daily lives. The Church offers “soul matters” which is an opportunity for an
The three statements that summarize the biblical teaching are: God is three persons, each person is fully God, and there is one God (Grudem, 106). The Trinity is revealed to us when Jesus speaks to the disciples and says, “The Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name...” (John 14:26). This is a revelation of God in three persons by the Son of God himself (Grudem, 107). Matthew 3:16-17 also shows us that each person is fully God and yet one for example: Jesus is standing there having just been baptized; the Holy Spirit is represented by the dove ascending; and God the Father speaks in a thunderous voice from heaven. We know that they are each distinct yet one, since Isaiah 45:5 God tells us, “I am the Lord, and there
Christians believe the image of God to be three Gods merged into one. The Trinity’s components are the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit and they are all equal. Each form of God has the same attributes of all-powerful, all-knowing, always present,
It is important to begin by stating that there are many different doctrinal views of the Trinity. However I believe that the doctrine of Trinity defines one God who is eternally existent as three distinct Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. “These definitions express three crucial truths: (1) The Father, Son, and
