“The Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini is a book that allows his audience to witness the life and social differences of his characters in a different country. This book consist of such major use of narrative elements that it engages the audience into seeking and possibly understanding how one’s life may differ from the other but also be the same as well. There are many points in the story were the protagonist of the novel, Amir struggles with his past because of how he let his close friend and also servant in his home, Hassan, be treated in a way that you would not want a friend to be treated. At first it was a way to show Hassan that although he is Amir’s friend he is also someone who is below status and would accept to be treated anyway …show more content…

But because Amir could not reach that peace of mind, he had to find ways of ridding himself of his guilt and that involved accusing Hassan of stealing cash and a watch that Amir lied about being stolen. Of course Hassan took the blame for he knew there would continue to be differences between the now estrange friends and because he would do anything for Amir. People are always trying to make up for their mistakes and sometimes punishment is preventable, but in Amir’s case he knew his demons would always come back to haunt him regardless. And though people will do anything to avoid their punishments they will find ways of hiding from them. But unlike Amir his past seemed to define him as an adult and haunted him until he found a way to be good again. That guilt that Amir had within him would eventually drive to the climactic events of the story, which includes Amir’s journey back to Kabul to find Hassan’s now orphaned son, Sohrab and his confrontation with Assef.
